Too easy!
The ease of the installation is pure bliss. The sounds is impressive. I also purchased the sub and even without it the house get filled with impressive sound. It works seamlessly with other Sonos products. The system can be expanded to a true wireless 5.1 system by adding two Play3 speakers. The Playbar does amazing job with virtual surround effects, making it sound like you have more speakers than you actually do. I wish all the speakers and the Playbar had also Bluetooth connection to cimply connect another Bluetooth enabled devices.

Very reliable
I have had my sound bar for about 4 years and have it connected to my T V and sound system it impresses a lot of people so much so that 3 of my friends have bought one. Their are a lot of cheaper sound bars out There but I highly recommend the Sonos . The after sales service from this company is also very good

Completes a 'whole house load' of sound
There are only two types of people in the world - those who love SONOS, those who don't know what it does. I'm in the first group - and the SONOS Playbar completes our set up perfectly. For those in the second group, SONO is a high end wireless sound system that you can control from your smart phone, laptop or PC. There's a range of speakers - from small to large and the Playbar and Sub. We have a number of speakers scattered in various rooms and in our outdoor entertainment. area. The Playbar and sub run off the TV when we have it on - and p...Read more
lay music/streamed radio at other times. The real beauty of SONOS is that you can have the whole house pumping out the same music - beautifully synced - or play different TV/music in each room. If you want, you can even send the TV audio to each room on your house. And the quality is really, really good. The Playbar and Sub do a great job - event with regular TV. And if you're really keen, you can bring some SONOS speakers from other rooms and set them up as rear surround speakers for those high action movies where you need to feel the sound as well as hear it. Over all, I think SONOS is amazing. We first bought a couple of their small speakers (Play 1 x 2) because we moved to a two story home and wiring it for sound was going to be really difficult. Since then our system has grown and we are super happy with every cent we've spent on our SONOS set up. It produces great sound and being wireless, running off it's own network or your existing home wireless set up, it super flexible.

Fantastically versatile but problematic to repair
What is lacks in true audio quality is compensated for by ease of use and general functionality. Have found it useful to have the soundbar connected to my tv and stream the tv sound to a pair of Play 5's in the open plan kitchen some 18 meters from the tv - I don't have to blast the soundbar to hear the tv in the kitchen. Generally agree with other reviews and I've been happy with my Sonos units to date, of which I have 13 in total. After 29 months however, my Sonos playbar died on me without warning. Simply does not turn on and is lost to my s...Read more
ystem. It could be an internal fuse or it could be a faulty component. Here's the problem - you cannot get it repaired. I asked JB HiFi and Harvey Norman where I could have the playbar repaired in Perth and both were unable to assist. I eventually contacted Sonos in Melbourne who advised that there are no repair agents anywhere in Australia for their products. They offered to exchange my faulty playbar a replacement "remanufactured" - not new - unit for $350 including freight. They've offered to collect my unit for inspection via a courier company, inspect it in Melbourne. and if acceptable, ship a suitable replacement back to me with a 90 day warranty. I'd like to know what's wrong with the unit. Is it a 50c fuse which needs replacing and which can be done in minutes or is it something more onerous? I'll be without the playbar for 10 odd days according to Sonos, unless they consider the unit has been tampered with or abused in some manner, in which case I have no idea how we will proceed. This also implies that they don't want me to have the unit looked at by a local electronics store as this will negate their offer. I am concerned with the uncertainty and the (assumed) one price fits all repair option. I installed my player on a wall under the tv originally and it has not moved since then. An apple tv unit and a Samsung TV share the powerpoint and have no damage, so a power surge is unlikely. Is a $350 repair justified and should my options be limited in this manner? Purely on this, I'm re-considering Sonos with my future music plans.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Expensive but well worth it
I purchased the soundbar speakers and I'm so glad I did. Amazing sounds. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it. We connected it to our tv. You can Bluetooth your music through and the sound is crystal clear. I wouldn't buy any other having tried this one now. Well worth money spent.

Great part of home sound system
Love the ease of setup of the Sonos system and the soundbar is a major component. The soundbar fits in nicely with the full system and makes the overall sound system sound great from any part of the room. Certainly makes for a home cinema sound at a reasonable cost with minimal set up required

Sonos Playbar = Wow Factor
Do yourself a favour - Go & listen to one - Such a rich deep & open sound from the Playbar + it's easy to add other additional speakers easily - then again, the one does the job extremely well by itself!
I was a bit hesitant to purchase one at the start, as I thought when I got home it wouldn't perform as well as in the shop - shop being small compared to home (open living)
In 3 words - just get one

Great sound
Fantastic unit sleek and stylish. Very easy to set up and use with Bluetooth and operated via iPhone. Sound is excellent. Yes these units are dearer than others but when you use the unit you can hear the difference. Easy to add to system with additional speakers and can easy play different things in different part of the house.

Great sound
Great sound on it's own, but put it with the Sub and it truly fantastic. Deep, clear and crisp sound. This is quality and very easy to set up. Australian based customer support if you have any issues. I love it so much, I bought more SONOS speakers to fill my house

Love our sonos system
After plenty of deliberation and scouring reviews I decided Sonos was the way I wanted to head when updating our sound system, Our Bose system had served us well for close to 15 years and was looking for something easy yet with clean quality sound, Purchased the soundbar & sub to test the waters and also act as the hub for our setup with expectations of building the setup throughout the home, also grabbed a sonos 5 to move about the home, The set up was quite easy once I understood the somewhat simple instruction booklet provided, The quality ...Read more
of product is amazing as is the sound, The playbar & sub work so well together for music or tv sound and the app works on both tablet & phone no problem. The Sonos 5 is great no matter where we place it indoors or out, we certainly will be adding more sonos speakers to the system in the new year & highly recommended the products.Similar opinion? Awesome
I have the Playbar (also have the Play:5 & a Play:3 in different rooms) which I bought before the Play:5 & 3. Its been great, I really like the sound quality, however it does vary depending on the source. Originally it was connected to a new Samsung TV and the sound was great, then moved it to an older Sony TV and you can tell the difference. The streaming services deliver a better quality sound as does my playlists. All in all, I'm happy with it. Its a little expensive. I like the ability to group the speakers together or play different things by using the app. The app could be a little more intuitive, but I see that as immaturity, it will get better over time. Happy to recommend Sonos.

Awesome Sonos
I had a new Sonos soundbar and surround system installed into my new house. The quality is awesome. Highly recommend them. I have it wired up to my 55" screen and my outdoor audio system. We can split the music from room to room. LOVE IT.
I was not paid for this review.

Sonos Play Bar underwhelming
The Sonos Sound Bar provided an improvement on the speakers in my new Hisense TV but did not really meet expectations in excellent sound quality - especially for the price of $950. Perhaps it would be better had I bought the sub to go with it for another $950 making it a very expensive purchase. With hindsight, it may be better to spend $950 on a sound bar that comes with a sub. On the plus side, the volume on both the sub and the TV can be adjusted together with the TV remote.

Great Soundbar, Great Speaker System - But $$$
Bottom Line: If you have the cash (or can justify it haha) get one, I love mine (4/5 for price, nothing's perfect)
I managed to pick one of these up on Gumtree for $800 nearly brand new and that was still pretty expensive in my books. That said, it's a great speaker, has excellent sound for both watching TV and movies as well as acting as a stand-alone stereo speaker. I was initially put off by the size and look fearing that it would obscure the bottom of my TV (Sony Bravia KD55-x8500c) but I barely notice it in front of the 55" screen an...Read more
d actually find that I really like the look of it. IR repeater works perfectly so even though the bottom of the screen is blocked (~1cm) the remote still works perfectly. The Sonos system is very well organised with good user interface and a huge range of music services to choose from (I use mainly Spotify and my own music, Telstra gave me a 12-month subscription to apple music so I'm playing with that too but you certainly don't need to pay for anything to use it). The ability to add a full 5.1 surround system is nice (but again very expensive) and the Sub which costs as much as the Playbar gets a minimum of 9/10 on every review I've yet to come across. We have a small 2 bedroom apartment and the TV is up against the same wall as our bedroom, the night and speech enhancement modes are great for taking the bass out while still being able to clearly hear what's being said (no complaints from the girlfriend).Similar opinion? Fancy but very disappointing sound
Bought the player for 950 $, as the sound of the Samsung TV speakers itself is very hollow. Turns out the player has exactly the same sound and there is no improvement whatsoever. I like the fact that I can stream my music from my iPhone dire try to the sounder, but am EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of the soul, which is not any better than the in-built speakers from my TV itself.
When I asked about the fact that this is just a hollow sound speaker system and no surround sound effect at all, was told to get some bass (as there is no bass at all in the sounder) by buying their sub for 950 $ again. But i do not trust it. Will I really fork out twice 950 $ and be frustrated as I am today ?

Brilliant product. loving the sound and flexibility.
I have recently purchased six Sonos components, play 5, play 3, bridge, two playbars and wall mount.
The equipment is simple and fast to setup. It guides you through the process with no mental rigour required. The sound is fantastic. Decent dynamic range and warmth and clarity is present across the entire spectrum.
I love that I can sync numerous devices and control the entire system from either my phone or my tablet.
The only downside has been the mounting of the play 5 and play 3. Both speakers required the additional purchase of mounting brackets not easily accessible or cheap.
I love my Sonos equipment and wouldn't mind buying more.

Clean, SImple, Quality Product
I started out with a Play 3 in the kitchen and was blown away by the tight and full sound given the box size, but more so how quickly music was brought back into the house from any sources that I could think of.
Moved onto the play 5 for the TV, and thought that was pretty good, but wanted more than stereo for the TV down the track. I had to wait a little but then the Play bar was born, and I had bought into the Sonos universe so wasn't ready to mix brands.
Turns out when I got the Play bar I no longer needed the surround, nor the sub as th...Read more
e sound was tight, full and powerful for the space I had setup. It would end up just upsetting the neigbours. Features: - The key features as with all of the Sonos systems is the ability to play directly from web sources, local nework sources including samba (window shares), iTunes and like - To me this box clearly features good sound engineering - Good WiFi connectivity and simple setup (also well engineered) - Optical Input (the only input for direct connection to other non-Sonos devices)Similar opinion? Currently I have 5.1 running in the lounge. It’s big and bulky. I have no doubt the quality for theatre will be good. Music wise, I use a Bose sound dock in the loungeroom, which I would like to get rid of. How’s the sound quality on this? I won’t be heading out to buy the sub super quickly due to initial costs. Many thanks!

The sound from the sonos system is awesome we have the sound bar in front of the TV a sub woofer and two surrounds. The sound bar connects to the TV with a optic cable and the whole sydney runs on WiFi and you can add lots of apps like Spotify, iTunes and your favourite radio stations from any where in the world. I do however get very frustrated with the system when the Internet goes out as you can't do anything with it then other than user it with the TV
Great. Thanks for the info

I have the sound bar downstairs with a mini speaker at opposite end of room, sound is great very full. The speaker upstairs in bedroom sounds like 1/2 of a stereo system...getting predominatley background music and faint lyrics. Will adding another mini speaker in the bedroom give me fuller sound? At times I cannot even hear he lyrics....
2 answers
I suspect there is interference between the mini speaker and the music source. Wiring or insulation material perhaps? Have you tried moving the equipment around? SONOS are very supportive so you could call them for advice.
You are comparing a commodore Hsv SSV supercharged to a base model 6 cylinder in this case.
The playbar has more speakers, lower Hz and better response rate plus you have another speaker for the rear.
So of course you will think the speaker sound in the bedroom is less than it should, because it is!
You are best to tune the smaller speaker to your room.
Or a stereo pair of play1 will most probably suit your needs in the bedroom.
