Horrible customer support
Just adding another bad experience with Sony customer service. Had TV functioning for almost 6 months and now it's not working. Been to service centre twice and still have issues. Customer support does not care and they don't care even if it's under warranty. Would stay away from this brand.

Worst is the worst
Bought Sony Bravia 65" KD65x8500 at Harvey Norman 1 year ago. Product is still UNDER warranty.
Need to call Sony Centre 4x times to be able to speak with someone that can organise a repair.
Asked for a refund due to major failure of product (NOT WORKING) - Sony rep said not possible.
Piece of advice: get as far away from Sony - company is dying.

had to engage a solicitor
In 4 years i have had 3 sony bravia 65 inch smart tvs have panel failures, at first they would not fix or replace the first set that was 4 months old so i went to a consumer law solicitor .One phone call from the solicitor and Sony replaced my tv. My advice is get representation or Sony will just not help at all even though they are obligated to under common warranty.

Brand new Sony tv... guide useless - support useless - probably sorry I made the purchase
I'm unhappy with my just out of the box Sony Bravia HD tv. The support offered on the net is even more useless. All I want to do is discover how to delete unwanted channels. Terribly simple on my last tv, but not on the Sony Bravia. And asking support means paying for an expert to assist me. Ha! What the hell did I buy? What I got is a big, beautiful tv picture with a multitude of channels but support? Answers to me "how to..." question? Nope. Am I happy? Nope.

8 month old TV with numerous problems and little support
I purchased a Sony Bravia 65" Television in March 2022, convinced by advertising that this was a reliable and good quality product. At that time I believed that Sony was a byword for quality.
Within a few weeks, the television was switching itself off, taking over a minute to start from standby, losing sound. The television was replaced with a new one in April 2022. The second television functioned well for for 7 months and then there were issues with the panel- this was completely replaced and so, within a matter of months, I have my third t...Read more

Horrible customer service with warranty...
Bought an 85 inch Sony TV 6 months ago. Poor picture clarity. TV turned off completely all of a sudden and contacted customer service for support.. very bad service and I did call them every day for a week and finally the service centre contacted me exactly after a week and the lady who talked was very rude and told it will be another 7 days as they ordered the parts with out no one actually checked the TV. Still waiting to get it repaired on the 11 th day of reporting.

Terrible customer service
Bought a TV three weeks ago (via the Sony Ebay store) and from day one it hasn't worked. I've been waiting and waiting for a fix but still nothing. Considering a refund.
Do yourself a favour, go elsewhere.

Sony brand is dying out
Sony brand is dying out.
I used Sony products for year but will totally stop from now. I bought a sony tv (49X7000e) last year, Jun 2018. Sony company just removed Vewd app (previously opera store) which is one of the main store app that make it a smart tv. I now cannot use various essential app from Opera store in the tv anymore which is like using an iphone without apple store, or like using a samsung without google play app. I bought a smart tv, but it is now not a smart TV anymore, just after 1 year purchasing. I did contact Sony for any solution. Their only solution is that they said sorry & suggested me to buy a TV box such as apple TV which cost me at least another $300 NO MORE SONY PRODUCT FROM NOW.

Bad Customer Service
Ordered wireless noise cancelling headphones Model WFSP700NB on 28 Mayember 2022 over the phone and was advised I would receive them within 5 business days
On 3 December I was advised by courier company that the goods were damaged and I would have to lodge an insurance claim for goods I never received.
I rang Sony and was advised I would need to get the email from the courier company and send it to Sony.
I cancelled the order and am now $147.00 out of pocket. I was advised I would not get the refund until the goods were returned?
It is now 12 December and I am still out of pocket
Sent an enquiry to Sony and was advise would receive a response within 48 hours? I did not receive a response.

What a horrible company to deal with
I placed an order for headphones (for my husbands xmas present) during black Friday sales. They charged my credit card the $349 then send me an email saying they were "reviewing" the order. I called the service desk, the first person I spoke to said the order had to be reviewed . to ensure they had stock, when I questioned this because the website said it was in stock she said the review was to make sure they were not broken ?????? I asked if she could guarantee the order would be processed she couldn't so I waited a few hours and when it st...Read more
ill was not processed I called back and asked for the order to be cancelled and refunded. I was assured by the person I spoke to that the cancellation and refund would be processed immediately and to call back within the hour if I had not received an email. I called back because I did not receive and email and I was told cancellations were processed within a day (which means I miss buying the product from another supplier who has it on sale for Black Friday). I asked for the matter to be escalated and the person I spoke to escalated it but told me customer support were all on the phone and someone would call me back when they were free. I said I would hold and he said no because he had other things to be doing then he hung up on me. I called back and was told the normal people could not help me because I had escalated it but someone should call "within the day". No one has called and I still have a $349 charge on my credit card for a product they could not supply and I have no XMas present for my husband. It is amazing that a technology company can't do something as basic as process an online order. I don't recommend relying on Sony for customer service, support or resolution of any problems. As for their products - I won't be buying them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sony XAV-AX5000 Zero Support
I used to be loyal Sony customer, I loved their products. They were always high quality and had terrific aftermarket support. So when my parents bought me a Sony XAV-AX5000 as a birthday gift I was extremely happy. First few months I had zero issues, however out of nowhere the physical buttons stopped working. I couldn't change the volume or anything. I asked my parents for the receipt, but they didn't have it, most likely misplaced it. I contacted Sony and they referred me to a repair shop in Melbourne, I contacted them and they flat out refus...Read more
ed to help me without a receipt. I didn't want a new unit just repair an obvious manufacturing fault. I contact Sony again, however they ignore my concern and again referred me to the same place. Even though I explained my situation. Mind you, this is $750 head unit with 3 years warranty, although I don't have the receipt, it is pretty obvious it is still under warranty. I don't know if Sony are simply too lazy to deal with my concerns or basically made a defective product and want zero responsibility. But today they lost a life long customer.Similar opinion? Sony MDR-XB650BT wireless headphones - Broke in warranty period through normal use No repair service available
Given headphones as present for Christmas. No special care instructions or storage case provided. Earpiece broke away in my work day pack under normal daily use as a commuter. Sony would not warrant as classified as customer misuse. They offered to sell me another pair at a discounted rate. Will now have to pursue my rights under consumer law.
SONY AUSTRALIA DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR WIRELESS HEADPHONES PRODUCTS LOCALLY SO CANNOT BE REPAIRED ONLY REPLACED.
Shame on Sony Australia

Don't Buy a SONY Android 4K TV
I bought the latest sony android TV from my local store and within 3 months, it started to restart automatically while watching. Reported this loop restarting under concierge warranty. It's been a month now and still they waiting to get the parts to repair it. It is bad that such a reputed Sony tv brand product is this much trouble even within 3 months of purchase. Go through all available reviews and think before you buy a sony product. Model: KD65X7500F ANDROID 4K UHD TV.

Pathetic Customer experience!
Bought Sony 65" KDL65W850C TV.. and within 2 yrs time one of the part is broken nd TV wont start and blinks 6 times red lights. As i read lot of reviews for the same issue faced by customer.
Called sony cust. service and its been a week since no response. This is Unfortunate that even you buy branded stuff, you still have to experience this all.
I have made complaint to ACCC any one reading this thread and have same issue please make sure to take this to ACCC as i will not be paying any penny to fix my TV.

Simply horrible!!!
I bought Sony Bravia (model No: KDL65W850C) around three years ago for around $2000. Had 12 months factory warranty. After around 9 months the TV unit broke down. As it was under the warranty the technician fixed it. Two years later the TV unit broke down again. The SSS Electrotics technician came and charged $100 (5 minutes assessment). 3 days later I received a quote for $918. I had no choice but throw the TV unit out and buy a new one (different brand). A friend of mine had similar problem with Sony TV. Never will buy anything from Sony!!!

Sony does not stand by its products or customers
Sony 55 inch Bravia TV stopped working within 3 years of purchase (initial cost $1,000). Contacted Sony who offered a 20% discount from their online store which is significantly more expensive than other stores. Then offered shared repair costs, I pay labour and they supply the part (main board) free of charge. The costs of labour would be $319 through a contractor, about a third of the cost of a TV. But most disappointing is that if I agreed to the repairs, Sony would not categorically cover the new part. So if the part broke down again within...Read more
3 months only, they would evaluate the situation to provide the "best resolution" (their words). They would not even guarantee a replacement part if it broke down within 3 months! This appears to be really poor customer support. Sony does not stand by its products or customers. I would NEVER buy nor recommend Sony.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Extremely poor service and sending broken product
Our Sony Bravia TV (bought new 3 years ago) suddenly broke and no chance of repair. Discussed with sony online store and a rebate was offered for a new bravia TV, which we accepted. Unfortunately new TV arrived faulty, image kept dropping out intermittently and eventually was gone completely. After hours on the phone to sony online store and escalating the case it was agreed that we get a replacement sent and faulty tv collected. 8 days later ( still no working tv) letter arrived with sticker to send tv back for assessment, no replacement tv se...Read more
nt....We demanded a refund and will never buy any sony products again. When paying premium price for a popular brand you would expect either reasonable quality or at least a decent customer service if things go wrong. Sony provided neither.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Questions & Answers
Damien J.asked
Sent my Sony Xperia can ultra back for repair under warranty, they could not repair so they sent a replacement phone a refurbished phone made from used parts, was so disappointed, why not a new phone??
1 answer
Hi Damien, I feel you should get a new phone & not a used phone. Contact consumer affairs for ?possible? help. I'm disheartened with Sony. They make some great equipment BUT should own up to their responsibilities when problems happen! I'm certain if they did they would win back MANY a customer who left them rather than making life difficult for customers like you & I who have supported them. Makes good business sense but it's also the right thing to do as life's to short & it's time for corporations to do the right thing. HEY? Good luck mate!
