Most users will simply leave it in Auto mode but if you want to get creative, it can expand your options. I liked the light weight, the feeling of quality and compact portablity. Using AA batteries with a life of about 300 shots it is a reliable travel companion. If you want to achieve better photographs than possible from a cell phone without going the DSLR route the SONY Cybershot DSC-300 is in a class of its own. On special at Aldi for $199.
