Really cool pair of headphone
This is my first pair of over ear headphone after my 10 years old wired ear buds snaps in 2 pieces due to old age of the wiring. Was skeptical whether I should spend this much on a head phone but I really wanted a true wireless good quality headphone or earbuds but don't want to worry about battery which this headphone excel along with many other features.
the noise cancelling is good and comfortable, I can still hear some noise but it's won't distract you from what you are listening ( note: i don't blast with high volume ). It sounds great wit...Read more

Great sound and bass
Love this headphones, after tossing up between Bose and these I finanly bit the bullet and choose the Sony .
They have a rich bass and great mids
These arent high end headphones but they are perfect for everyday listening
Noise cancelling can be a bit uncomfortable as they are quite firm on the head

I don’t understand how people rate it highly
My 5 year old daughter saw how much I loved my Bose quiet comfort 35s and bought me this product as a present thinking I would love it. She’s gets very disappointed when I can’t hide how much I dislike the headphones.
Can’t connect to more than 1 device, that’s a deal breaker. why the hell do I have to power off and hold on for so long to the device to connect to another device? Battery last 1/10th of the time as the QCs since the auto off is useless.

Great sound quality, good connection distance, great build quality and great noise cancelling (barely able to hear a plane taking off). No regrets of purchase at all, if you're in the market for Bluetooth headphones, definitely recommend these

Confused.
I'm comparing these Sony's to a set of Sennheiser 4.50hd headphones that I "lost" a month ago on a trip interstate. Considering you can get a set of my old Sennheisers at JB hifi for about $130 at the moment you would hope that the Sony headphones would be a big step up.
So, I guess I'm going to pick out the features of the Sony headphones and compare them to the much cheaper (now) Sennheiser headphones.
1. Sound Quality
The most important thing with any set of headphones is the quality of sound.
For me it's a tie, the Sony's have a richer sound but overdo it on the bass.

Great noise cancelling
The best!
I bought these before some overseas travel recently and they work perfectly on a plane.
They sound great and are very comfortable to wear.
It does sometimes get annoying when pairing between multiple devices, but I can live with it.

Good sound and great noise cancelling.
As many other reviewers have noted these headphones do sound great, and the active noise cancelling works fantastically well.
Call quality is only OK - good enough but not great, but really - who cares? As long as I can hear them and they can hear me, then that's all I really need.
Sound quality is pretty good, but not as good as, say, my Sennheiser Momentum 2 cans, (as a comparison). Bass can be a bit muddy at times.
Also, as with all Bluetooth headphones I've tried, they don't really go very loud. Certainly nowhere near as loud as a pair o...Read more
f headphones plugged in to your home stereo system. The only other gripe is I do find them a little tight on the head - the "clamping pressure" is a little too firm for my comfort. Overall I really like these headphones - they are pretty comfy, sound pretty good and are very effective at noise cancellation.Purchased in March 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for $399.00.

Manufacturing defect
My headphones had a faint, white noise in the left ear cup that appears after 10-15 min of noise cancelling use. It is super obvious when in a quiet environment, and gets super annoying when listening to music while studying.
After researching online, I found others who had a similar issue and it seems like people with sensitive hearing tend to notice it. Some people said the XM2s had this issue as well.
I sent my product back to get it repaired under the warranty, however sony's technicians claimed they couldn't hear the noise and that ther...Read more
e was nothing wrong with it. On the plus side, the warranty process was pretty easy and straightforward - the negative was that my issue was not resolved. Before buying this product I would recommend researching this issue and thinking about whether it would bother you.Purchased in August 2021 at Toby Deals for $380.00.

12 months on...5 days a week public transport...Great headphones
I done a lot of research into My first pair of noise cancelling headphones ..was going to buy the bose but at the last moment bought the Sony's... I'm so so happy with them..as people have said your ears do get hot wearing them as they fit so close but the advantage is you don't hear back ground noise.. I ride the Sydney trains to work every day and it's like your at home listening to music...One key thing I would say is...don't use the preset equalizer.. go online and see what other people recommend....it makes a huge difference .
I'm hearing things in songs I have been listening to for over 40 years I have NEVER heard before with these headphones ... Yes really..

High Quality Noise Cancelling H/P
They have been great for my interstate flights.
Easy to use and effective at cancelling out the aeroplane noise, both via Bluetooth and the detachable 3.5mm cable. It's also easy to control with the touch pad on the outside of the earphone and very comfortable to wear.
Having said that, I have used them when mowing the lawn, and once again, noise cancelling is great, except they're not the best when you work up a sweat.
But definately reccommend spending the money on these.

Insane noise cancelling
Listen to music and video audio, wouldn't personally bring them running! Awesome noise cancelling function, when you turn it on it's like you have turned off the outside world (I can't hear my wife or my child ;) ). No lag with video audio.

This is perfect, should have done this years ago!
I love everything about these headphones. (we'll not everything - after I turn them off they do seem to turn themselves back on chewing up battery). But the NC is phenomenal. I loved the price point, lots cheaper than bose. So comfortable. Can't live without.

This model dethrones Bose as the king
I bought these headphones as an upgrade from the original MDR-1000X which I bought because I preferred the sound to the Bose QC35 headphones, but they weren't as comfortable. Now two generations later I think Sony has cracked it and is the best set of noise cancelling headphones around, perfect for long stints on panes.
These headphones have moved to USB C charging, like most modern phones, and you get a reported 30 hours battery life form it- which I haven't tested. If you're caught short though you can get 5hrs worth of charge from it in 10m...Read more
ins, so no problem as I carry a portable battery. They're also more comfortable to wear and have a better noise cancelling quality than my existing pair, so worth the upgrade. I have no hesitation in recommending these headphones, particularly for travelling on planes where you might need an extended battery life.Purchased in November 2021 at The Good Guys for $316.00.

Setup from hell
My Bose MC35 was getting old and I decided to get the Sony after checking reviews. The good: sound quality is excellent, fit over ears is confortable BUT ; if you think setting it up (except for iPhone/iPads) should be easy, you are wrong. Controls are awkward to access, barely protruding from the lower rim, I need to hold the headset in my hand and then try to listen to messages. Instead a providing a simple tutorial how to pair and connect the headset, Sony opted for some awkward graphics, forcing you to search for the manual online which is ...Read more
of no use at all if you run into difficulties. While connections to iPad/iPhone went OK, I have now spent 3-4 hours to get it to connect to three different Windows 10 PCs without success, the closest I have come is pairing but on Connect, it drops almost immediately out. This is not my first experience with Sony devices, great quality but next to impossible to install when it doesn't get smoothly the first time. And being an experienced user does not help either, I have 30 years of it....Purchased at Amazon for $400.00.

Worth every cent
These things are absolutely unbelievable. The ability to instantly optimise the noise cancelling under varying conditions is second to none. We have a neighbour who plays VERY loud music every now and then and these completely nullify out his horrible tunes. The sound quality is faultless. Exceeded all expectations!

Bluetooth and App
Connecting them to my phone was easy as, all I had to do was turn them on and go into the sony app (has lots of features) to connect, and that was it! For those unaware, these headphones support LDAC which is sony's proprietary Bluetooth codec, supported on most new Android phones, otherwise, AptX or AptX HD (sorry Apple, you don't support any of these) and it had me a bit confused on how to set it up. Turns out all you have to do is go into settings and enable it manually (in my case at least). This will stream a higher quali...Read more

Wonderful NC Headphones
These headphones take the cake in the NC headphone catagory. Wonderful piece of device. They are better than the Bose in both NC and sound quality. The Sony app is also much better than Bose connect app. You can actually control base mids lows and highs which is a huge bonus. Great!

Amazing product
These headphones have amazing build quality. I wear them while on public transport or while walking. The sound quality is top notch with nice heavy bass (which you can modify using the app).
These have the standard bluetooth 'issues' where it can only be connected to one device at a time however if you manually try to connect to the headphones, it's easy to swap them around.
