Peace and quiet at home
WIth the current distance learning situation, I needed something to allow me to continue with online studies at home with my kids. I didn't want to experiment with others so I chose these top-of-the- range ones. They are perfect in every way, and well-worth the cost.
Purchased in March 2021.

One of my 1st world essentials
I love music but I hate noise!
Actually I must suffer Misiphonia look it up and laugh). With this diagnosis in mind and having two young and very noisy children I was getting agitated not being able to enjoy my rather expensive and dearly loved hifi system. I needed a solution and noise canceling headphones were the answer.
I have 2 sets of nose hifi speakers I’ve had for over 20 years so Bose was where my heart was leaning but reading reviews and a little test driving and Sony was the winner.
I love these things, the noise canceling means I ca...Read more
n play with my kids while smiling in sonic bliss listening to my favourite music (please don’t judge me). The sound quality is not as awe inspiring as what comes out of my $6000 yamaha speakers but it still allows me to get lost in the beauty of structured sounds some call music. There’s some neat sound modification things easily accessible via an easy to use app but I find I don’t need to fiddle much unless the recording in substandard in the first place. I got the silver colour as black was out of stock and they are really pretty but as I (and the kids) drag them around a bit they have attracted some stains and discolouration but that’s my fault and by no means a complaint against the product. On that note my kids are amazed at this magic sound device so it works well to relax them too and has held up to their supervised handling. Oh and I was a little concerned that while lost in noise canceling bliss I might miss any emergency situation but it seems true screams are still audible. I have tried wearing while out and about and find it potentially dangerous if crossing roads as traffic noise is non-existent. My only bugbear is that I can’t simply link up to my Hisense TV. I am yet to decide on what Bluetooth device I need to purchase for this so haven’t been able to test if there’s any delay with video yet. Lastly, they are comfy! From memory this was a big choice factor, although chunky, these just disappear as soon as you put them on. The Bose look more sleek but just didn’t feel as nice or as absent when wearing.

Could not be happier
These headphones work perfectly and are durable considering I use them daily.
The sound quality and noise canceling is top notch and the Bluetooth connectivity is very reliable.
Only could be easier to connect to a few more devices, but thats hard to complain about.
Purchased at JB Hi-Fi for $395.00.

Great noise cancelling wireless headphone!
Can't complain about this headphone. I use it at home when I'm relaxing and listening to my favorite songs. The noise cancelling feature is great. It completely blocks out other noise. The wireless range is pretty good and quick to charge. It's very comfy as well!

Great noise cancelling, only problem is...
Great pair of headphones with amazing sound, deep bass and world class noise cancelling. Top in class headphone. Few issues... Firstly it doesn't have capability to pair with 2 devices simultaneously which is a slight hassle when switching between devices. Secondly, I personally feel it gets quite warm after 45 mins of continuous use, depending on how sensitive you are to heat - may or may not be a deal breaker. Overall the best noise cancelling headphones in the market now hands down.
Purchased at eBay for $330.00.

Best NC headphones I’ve owned
I’ve never regretted this expensive purchase.
I collect quite a few headphones in a number of varieties but these are the ones that I use every single day.
Pros:
They sound excellent to me. I’m no audiophile but I know what I like. They have plenty of base without sounding boomy or muddy. The sound feels very neutral/true without overemphasising any range of tones.
They connect flawlessly and I’ve never had a dropout.
Battery life is just amazing.
The quick hear function is very convenient (activated by placing palm against right ear piece...Read more

Very Good but could be improved
I've owned (and still own) Bose Noise Cancelling headphones - the QC-15 (now 6 years old) and the QC-35-II, and love them both. Bought the QC-35's because they're wireless, but the QC-15 is still going strong. I use them for work (phone calls) and listening to music, including on flights.
A colleague has the WH-1000 and was lyrical about it. I saw them at at JB-Hifi so tried them on, and they immediately felt very comfortable: evidently my ears are large, so they don't quite fit inside the QC-35's cups. The Sony's cups are a tiny bit larger so ...Read more

Better than Bose QC35ii
Sound is superior to bose, the features and control on the app is better and more flexible, the noise cancelling and ambient sound are fantastic, light to carry. Build quality has held up so far but not fully convinced at this stage hence the four stars

Great for listening, but microphone is average
As I use headphones for hours on end a day, I decided it was worth investing in a high quality headset.
Based on the reviews, I decided on the Sony WH1000X m3.
Pros
- Material appears to be high quality
- Noise cancelling (ANC) is excellent. It also has a feature where it will block out ambient noise, but allow you to hear voices. Very handy for when someone wants to speak to me and it works extremely well.
- You can quickly enhance the outside noise by covering your hand on the right cup of the headphones. This essentially reduces the stream to minimum and enhances the sound around you.
- Has an equalizing pressure feature for when you are on planes.
- Easy set up....Read more

Tons of features, worth the money
I've owned these since December and in the 3 months I have had them I have almost nothing but positive things to say.
Positive things:
Noise cancellation is pretty good, easily up there with the best.
Audio quality is pretty good, but lacks the insane bass levels I crave so much (even when toying with the equalizer in the Sony app) - still, the overall audio quality is very well balanced and unlike many other brands, you have a good balance of low/mid/highs at all volume levels.
Call quality is good for the listener, not so much for the rece...Read more
iver - the headphones are not good at isolating your voice from the background noise so even in quiet areas like an office you're often asked to repeat a sentence. The app to control the headphones is great - it's all fairly simple.Purchased in December 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $389.00.

My Favourite Travelling Headphones
At the time of writing, the Sony MH-1000XM3 have only been out on the market for three weeks and already lives up to all the pre-launch hype and raving reviews on the internet. I had a 7.5 hour international flight coming up and knew that that would be an excellent opportunity to test the comfort of the headphones and its noise cancelling capabilities.
After reading so many impressive reviews of the Sony WH-1000XM3, I was convinced to buy a pair even though I'm not a huge fan of over-ear headphones. I have found most uncomfortable to wear ...Read more
over extended periods due to the heat buildup and pressure on the ears. So I have opted to sacrifice sound quality (of over-ear headphones) for the comfort and wearability of in-ear, noise-cancelling buds. I purchased a silver model (not white) which comes in a silver padded case that houses the (folded) headphones, USB-C charging cable and 3.5mm to 3.5mm phone cables (if you need to use a wired connection). There are only two buttons on the bottom of the left hand ear speaker, one for power on/off and the other for switching off noise cancelling/ letting in ambient sounds. Both unobtrusive and easy to use. Pairing via Bluetooth (4.2) worked extremely well and range is good and even indoors. The headphone gives you an audible "power on and bluetooth connected" voice prompt when connected. The headphones worked flawlessly as I walked in and out of rooms at a range of at least 10 m. But what really impressed me the most was how comfortable they were to wear. I put them on an hour into my flight from Singapore to watch a movie on my iPhone and basically left them on for over 4 hours. A record for me ! The sound quality was excellent but the noise cancellation was absolutely superb. I left them on even after my 2 hour movie to drown out the endless drone of the engines and cries of neighbouring babies. I have even worn them in my TV room to watch my own show on my iphone while the TV was on. In the four hours, I did not have to do my usual "headphone shuffle", adjusting each ear cup to either cool off my sweaty ears or relieve the pressure from the ear cups pressing on my ears. Simply amazing! I also downloaded the Sony "Headphone" app from the AppStore which lets you connect to the headphone to customise and adjust some of its settings such as enabling "adaptive sound control". This feature automatically detects your activity such as travelling, walking, and waiting, then adjusts ambient sound settings to you. You can also run a "Noise Canceling Optimizer" which analyses the wearing condition such as your face shape, hair style, and presence or absence of eyeglasses to optimise the noise cancelling performance. Sony recommends that you perform this function when using the headset for the first time. The App also allows you to optimise the headphones due to changes in air pressure e.g. 1.0 atmospheres at sea level and 0.8 atmosphere when cruising at 30,000 feet. This is a pretty cool feature but I didn't really discern any noticeable difference. The other settings you can adjust include sound position and turn on/off surround sound and equaliser, auto power on/off and a few more options. The one area I have not tested is the sound quality and microphone quality in receiving and making calls from my smartphone. I will update this review after I have had the chance to do this. Although quite expensive, these have quickly made me a convert of "over-ear” headphones With noise cancelling to boot. The Sony MH-1000XM3 sound quality is comparable to the best in this class but its comfort factor and noise cancelling capabilities are what sets it above the rest. These are now my favourite travelling headphones now and I won't leave home without them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
