Hi there Sharon,
if your machine is agitating but not spinning it could be a part called the helix is worn, or if its neither agitating or spinning but the motor is working it could be the belt or idler. All are very much repairable. Contact 1300washer and they can assist.
a technician came and change the belt .it's washing and spinning but there's a noise when it is letting out the water.

How can I get my new Speed Queen top loader to siphon back the rinse water in order to save water? Used to be able to do it wit my previous Kleenmaid.
5 answers
Hi Neri,
The machine I have does not have a suds saving option. To find out wether your machine has this feature best to contact Speed Queen on 1300 927 437
Dianne
Thank you for that.
Not sure how to do that. I wouldn’t want dirty water to re rinse my clothes. You could move the outlet to siphon outside to water your plants if you were wanting to conserve water though.

Can you tell me what the high efficiency setting is for?Im assuming its to save water? Also the fabric softener is often left in patches after the clothes have been washed?

No need to use softer it sticks to your clothes,,not really good for fabrics,,,only use half quantity of powder or liquid,,,forget the softness but if need be dilute with water only 1/10 of recommended
cheers the other question I don't know but just look it up on their website or phone them.
This is from the Owners Manual. "The high efficiency setting includes an Eco-Wash Soak during the agitation portion of the cycle. The IN USE, RINSE and SPIN status lights will flash one after the other during the soak periods". Your High Efficiency wash cycle will take 106 minutes whereas your regular cycle takes only 35 minutes. I never use fabric softener in my wash. I add a quarter of a cup of vinegar to the last rinse cycle. Shannon Lush (the Queen of clean) recommends this.
Craige C.Speed Queen
Hi Helen,
Thank you for your question. The high efficiency cycle is specifically designed to save water while still achieving a quality wash result. It does this by having several wash & soak modes with multiple sprat rinses instead of a deep rinse. The instruction manual on page 12 indicates that to use the fabric softener dispenser that the machine should be set only to the regular cycle. This allows the fabric softener to be flushed from the agitator during the deep rinse.

where in new zealand can I buy a Speed Queen Top loading washing machine?

Hi, yes you can speed queen number is 080077337 or +61 95285600. These people are in NZ agents for commercial laundry. When u contact them or look up the web site choose the basic one tell them it is for home use so no coin slot is required. You honestly won't go wrong purchasing any of their models...put in speed queen NZ in your search and go from there..good luck
Thank you for that information. I have had a heavy duty Hoover 600MD for the last 30 plus years and there is no equivalent replacement for it !! Evidence is found at the local recycling yard !!

Hi I have a top loader speed queen. The machine is letting water in, but then the wash cycle doesn't start. I can hear the motor humming but there is no movement. If I forward to the spinning cycle, it spins and then drains the waters. Any ideas?
2 answers
Hi. It needs a service call. Tell the service guy to give u a estimate of repairs. Cheers
From what you describe, you could have a faulty timer switch which is not starting the wash cycle. These machines are not very complex in their set up and much of the functionality revolves around the timer switch. I suggest you contact your local speed queen service provided. http://www.speedqueen.com.au/contact/ is a good place to start.

I have a new Speedqueen for about 2 weeks...all is fine, but when cycle is finished, I can hear a very quiet humming from control panel, so therefore I switch it off at power point. Why is it humming?
2 answers
I have the same issue and there is nothing else that can be done but switch off at powerpoint. We had the technician look at it and he said that's the way they did the control panel. I don't think it hurts the machine if you don't switch off at powerpoint.
Craige C.Speed Queen
Hi Josie G,
Thanks for the question, yes the low level hum from the control panel is normal and switching the machine off is the only way to eliminate it. The hum is caused by a small power transformer that is mounted in the control panel that allows the machine to operate the adjustable controls on lower voltages thus protecting the machine from fluctuations that can occur from the mains supply.

Hello, I want to thank all the people that have submitted reviews, I have read them, I am interested in the 7.5 kg, model AWNA62.
I am uneasy about the delicate cycle, eg delicate tops, lingere, (I use a bag) - that it will stretch delicate clothes as many people have said that it washes dirty work clothes well, so does this mean it's a machine that is rough on clothes? I really appreciate any opinions about how their delicates have gone in this model and thankyou in advance.
2 answers
I use a bag also and put it in normal wash cycle and it has never damaged anything, so I would think it's safe to do the same on delicate cycle.
Hi there Marie. I have this model Speed Queen and yes, it does wash dirty clothes very well indeed but I haven't had a problem using it for more delicate items - I put those in a wash bag and use the delicate cycle without a hitch. I have used that cycle and the wash bag when laundering very delicate items such as a - washable - silk top and it's fine Hope you get the machine/model you want - Speed Queen is great, both the company and the products.

Can I save water by adding borehole water in buckets as we are in a drought?
2 answers
Hi Bridget - so sorry to hear that you're experiencing drought and hoping that you might soon get some longed for rain.
We've only ever used bore water (which is fed directly in to the washing machine) and over a period of 16 years it's never been a problem. It sure saves water and in your case the extra effort with buckets would certainly be a saving. The only thing that you might need to keep an eye on would be sediment of any kind (it happens occasionally) and possibly be aware that your bore water might be a bit hard. The bore water here is quite soft so I don't have to add extra washing powder - and yours might be the same. Best of luck and let's hope you get some rain SOON. cheers from Kim
Hi, Bridget, I think Kim who also uses Bore water has the answer - as I live in a City I can't imagine the difficulty you experience - hope it rains for a month for you so you can capture the much needed water. Evelyne

Hi I resent have been having problems with my machine. It seems to be leaving fabric softener on my clothes and doesn't seem like it spins clothes that well anymore. What should I do? I love my machine other then that

Hi Diane,
I sounds like you could have a blockage somewhere, please contact us asap on 02 97482155 and we can get it sorted for you.
PS: We are glad you love your SQ.
Hi Diane, I can't help you as I only used Fabric softener when I had babies more than 20 years ago. So I can not help you as I do not remember ever having this problem. Maybe you are using too much softener and/or it dispenses at the very end of cycle and does not mix in with the water.
Hi Diane, I've been told to never use fabric softener in any washing machine because it causes clogging up issues over time. If you need your towels to be soft put them in the dryer, that does the trick every time. I never use fabric softener, it's not necessary and you save money!

I am very happy with my Speed Queen but it appears I am unable to restart a program cycle if for some reason I need to. (For example if I forgot to put the clothes in. Ha!). Do I have to wait for the whole program to finish before adding clothes and restarting? Thank you.

Would really love to have an answer to my posted question. Is there really no way to stop and restart a program from the beginning? Or am I missing something obvious.
Thanks.

I have a Speed Queen front load washer. It is one year old. I find that it does not ring out clothes as well as my Maytag bravos top load did. I had a technician look at it shortly after install, he said everything was fine as far as speed on spin cycle. Could there have been something not installed correctly? I was told to wash fabrics separately, and also stuff the washer full (I do not bc clothes then hold on to more water). Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with the Speed Queen front end loader, I only used top loader for many years.
Craige C.Speed Queen
Hi Sarah,
Your Speed Queen front load should spin your clothes better than your old machine as it has a much higher 1200RPM spin speed. I would suggest that there is a technical issue, possibly with either a restricted drain hose or a blockage. Please contact us on 1300washer and we will get it sorted for you asap.

Does this machine use cold water?
3 answers
Craige C.Speed Queen
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your question, yes the AWNA62 uses cold water. It can be connected to just cold water but requires both inlet hoses to be connected to the cold water tap. Please call us at 1300washer if you have any further questions.
As the Speed Queen advisor said, it can use only cold water. If the hot-water hose is not connected, it pushes the cold water thru this inlet back out and onto the floor! Fantastic machine!
I can use both hot and cold water in my machine I switch it over to cold water via the dials on the machine you have a selection of 3 Hot, Warm and Cold. You will need two hoses connected one to the hot the other to the cold. I wash in cold water all the time and have my hot water tap turned off as I don't use hot water a lot.

is there a way you can clean the filter or something which stops our clothes being covered in fluff?! We didn't get a manual and the 2 page brochure shows nothing remotely like a filter or de-fluffer. My husband's work clothes (he works on a drilling rig) usually pre rinsed by hand, come out of the final spin cycle with grit, fluff, dust etc streaked over them!! I have to thoroughly clean the wash bowl before the next wash, eg: sheets or my clothes every single time! I am very disappointed to have spent A$2200 on what I thought would be the BEST machine I'd ever have and I'm beginning to feel it's the Worst machine to date. Also the 'smallest load' setting still fills the wash bowl to half full - what a waste of water. I like the fact that its manual and large, and that's about it!
1 answer
When you register your machine for warranty they supply an enquiry number: 1300 927 437. I had the same problem when using the high efficiency wash and when I phoned they said it is because it only spray rinses. Try normal wash or run a rinse cycle after the wash. Also don't use softener. Best to ring Speed Queen, they are really helpful.

I recently purchased an AWNE92 model Speed Queen. The outlet is connected under the tub and the water continually siphons out of the machine and is constantly topping up with water - needless to say the detergent is being constantly diluted. This siphening - is this normal???
2 answers
Hi Jan, we had this error with another washing machine, you need to run the outlet up to the top of bowl height and back down again to stop the siphoning. Most plumbers should be able to sort that out for you. All the best, Verena
Craige C.Speed Queen
Hi Jan,
The outlet hose on all washing machines has to achieve a placement height at a point higher than the fill level of the washer otherwise they will self siphon. Your AWNE92 needs an outlet height of approx.92cm as recommended on page 5 of the installation instructions. If you need copy of these instructions or any assistance with your washer please contact your nearest Speed Queen distributor on 1300washer.

what is the wash time on the machine as no one can say for all cycles? I don't want one that takes hours.we have a dairy farm very stained clothes and also mechanics clothes to clean. Time is important to me.

All cycles half an hour from turning on and hanging on line
That would will be fantastic.
That's the basic cycle, half an hour - just make sure you never turn on that 'high efficiency' rubbish that they make them put on there. If you need to soak, just open the lid, leave for 5-10, and then close the lid, it just keeps going from where it left off.
