Outstanding customer service
On Monday I posted a review sharing my disappointment with my Speed Queen AWNA62. Within 24 hours I was contacted by the national manager of Speed Queen who was extremely sorry to hear of my unhappy experience and immediately set things in motion to sort it out. I was then contacted by the state and regional managers all of whom expressed their concern regarding my experience with my Speed Queen. I am pleasantly astounded by their prompt, professional approach and genuine concern regarding this situation. So here I find myself less than 48 hou...Read more

SpeedQueen Washer
We have not needed to buy a washing machine in 25 years. We were looking for a replacement of the same quality as our previous machine (a Kleenmaid) that was no longer available. This machine is very similar, although the control panel is updated without a turning dial to start the machine. (The turning dial on our previous machine was the first thing to require replacement after 20 years) The machine is certainly completing the loads quickly and the results are great. My husband is a coal miner and my son a concreter so we are washing heavy duty loads.

Sturdy, well made machine. Washes really well.
This machine is not super quiet but it doesn't jump around at all. Good solid, reliable machine.
I haven't had any rips or clothes entangled into knots since purchasing this machine.
Great safety feature is that it stops whenever you open the lid.
It cleans really well, however I do an extra rinse & spin as I use Omo liquid detergent and I feel its a bit too soapy after a normal wash.
The plastic on the dispenser at the top of the agitator and the plastic rim around the top of the drum is quite sharp and I have cut the skin on my hands a few times now taking the clothes out.

Washers very well. Strong & sturdy machine
I've always had a Kleenmaid 'Speed Queen' Top loader, so I didn't bother looking at other brands, because I was so pleased with my previous machines.
Just wish it had a more gentle cycle, my other machines were more easier to control what wash & spin I preferred.
Certainly very strong & sturdy machine, does jump around floor when not balanced.

Good machine
This machine is extremely quick as the name suggest. It cleans clothes very well to the point that not much detergent needs to be put in. I often use the middle strength cycle to ensure clothes are not worn out. This machine is noisey to fill due to its large capacity but once full and during the cycle is like any other machine.

Highly Recommended ! Trusty and Reliable
I bought the Speed Queen after my old washing machine died, which was over 20 years old. I was after something reliable, sturdy and not too computerised. My research pointed me in this direction and this is the machine I bought and am very happy with it. Clothes wash well and I haven't noticed any lint or fluff or that they are worn out. It cleans the clothes well. Its the same machine they have in laundry mattes (but without the coin part). The machine will stop through a cycle if you lift the lid so you can always add a sock or anything e...Read more
lse that you have forgotten. It does take a while for a normal cycle to complete (a bit longer than my previous machine) but I am happy with it. Whilst it is pricey about $2,500 I would recommend it to anyone that wants something solid, sturdy and reliable.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

One tough washing machine
Has been used practically every day for three and a half years with no problems, washes everything well, does tend to use more water than the one we had before, Solid, built like a tank and should last for years. One slight problem some very minor rust around the edge of the lid. Well worth the money.

Awesome, love the machine
After our two other major washing machines died, including a Simpson and Westinghouse, this is absolutely worth the money. We live on a farm, handles the tank water with no problem, we filter the grey water for the environment. Definitely have a look, it is built for industrial use. Note it does use a lot of water, but it does water the garden:)

LOVE it!
After a previous piece of junk this machine is heaven.
It washes quickly and effectively, and spins the clothes out well enough. We use cold water and the normal cycles. (efficient cycle takes forever and is a waste of electricity. It's a mandated cycle that cleans the clothes by soaking rather than agitating them).
This machine is neat and solid. It has simple controls and is easy to wipe over and keep clean. About the simplest available and reasonably electronics free. Freedom from electronics and the reliability everyone mentions are the ...Read more

Excellent dependable and easy to use.
Works as it supposed. It is easy to use. Controls are obvious and physical. There are 4 rotating controls and a start button. We hardly ever change anything but the load size. We always use cold wash regular option and normal cycle. It washes very well, doesn't damage clothes and is not very noisy as these washing machines go.

Love it, only one fault...
It's brilliant, nothing ever goes wrong. The only unecessary thing is the 'high efficiency' program, which is required by Aus standards, but positively useless in practice - it takes too long. It would be better to have a choice of wash time on the washer, like they all used to do.
The one thing I see as a fault is that it will not fill with the lid open - I like to add things into the stream as it fills.
For some reason this is seen as a safety issue. My personal opinion is that if you are not capable of keeping children and pets away from y...Read more

Great and Reliable
Not quite sure when we bought our Speed Queen but after I think it has been >2 yrs and this model has been absolutely great and reliable. When our Hoover gave up the ghost, I was despondent and worried as I don't trust the longevity of the fuzzy logic panels and digital circuitry. Research on this great website and googling American reviews gave me a good night's sleep then and many more thereafter

e allows some peace of mind as I know many folks who buy other top loaders that avr 5 to <10 yrs use, also sustaining various repairs. To minimize lint and reduce wear and tear on clothes, a front loader would be more suitable. If U are thinking of getting a Bosch front loader, be wary of the seals and plastic. Suggest diluting and using less softener but I hate the softener holderI noticed commercial laundromats in Aust and USA tend to use Maytags - more heavy duty but also more costly. I was in Penang, Malaysia last mth and came across a commercial laundromat filled with Speed Queens

Happy with it
I love the way it cleans and spin dries clothes.. it rinses very well
It is fairly quiet in operation.
I miss that it will not fill with water with the lid raised as I found that convenient with my old Kleenmaid machine.
Otherwise I am very happy with it.

Fantastic reliable
Cleans well, average noise, expensive but most importantly is super reliable.
I cant stand modern products that are design to fail after a set time.
I am not worried about electronic efficiency since the previous washing machine leaked water into the electronics.
I based the purchase of the Speed Queen on the reviews here.
December 5th 2017 Update: Fantastic simple
Cleans clothes well . Moderately loud and i dont have delicate clothes so i dont care.
Simple reliable and has mechanical knobs rather than a push button screen for water to leak into.
Top loading and solid 2-3 x the price but should last forever.
I am being forced to waffle on.,

Yippee, at last a real washer that just gets on and does the job super efficiently
Three weeks in and I am in love with the AWNA62. 21 years with an original old Maytag top loader which we left behind due to moving (wrong move in retrospect). Then 7 years of frustration with the fully electronic water efficient large capacity Electrolux, so efficient with water it forgot to wash the clothes, particularly the white business shirts (!!!) despite trying all options and washing tips and taking over an hour per load.
By-passing the water efficiency mode made a little difference but then water usage was far greater than the curre...Read more

Speed Queen / Kleenmaid - call it what you want but it's the best!
Purchased our first 'Kleenmaid' (re-named Speed Queen) from an old white goods store called Archie Martins in Kalgoorlie, 1988. That machine did at least 2 loads a day for 25 years and is still retained for parts. We now have 1 Kleenmaid, 1 domestic Speed Queen and 2 coin operated Speed Queen machines, so are well qualified to post an opinion.

Gets the job done
Had the machine for about 5 weeks. Washes well, no lint issues (sort my clothes prior to wash and use liquid detergent), good size drum fits enough clothes per wash, no noisier than my 15 yr old fisher paykel. Only minor point is I have noted a low sounding hum whilst not in use whilst turned on at power point. Simple fix, turn it off when not in use. So far so good, hope it continues on as not cheap.
Delivery and installation was fine, follow up call a few days later.
5 months on no issues to report.

The best washing machine I have ever owned
I have just purchased this washing machine last week. I have been using the machine since Friday and I am extremely satisfied with it. I don't know why I waited so long to purchase one, as all the other washing machine I have owned could not even come close to a match on this one. It is wonderful to finally have well washed clothed.

I have accidentally pressed the High Efficiency button, how long will this soak for? And how can I get out of that setting now during this wash? It has been flashing for an hour
4 answers
Hi Leah, I checked the manual because I don't personally use the high efficiency setting . All it seems to say is to expect soaking during the agitation portion of the cycle. The IN USE, RINSE and SPIN status lights will flash one after the other during the soak periods. It's been several hours since you posted the question. Did your machine eventually complete the cycle? If it's still flashing I'd contact SpeedQueen in case it has a faulty module.
Hey, sounds normal, it has multiple long soak times and some washing actions with this setting.
My machine on this setting, washes / soaks for around 90 - 100 mins. ( A light flashes when its doing the soaking thing )
thank you
Shara F.asked
Hi there. Can you tell me how we add extra water when we add extra clothes? I dont think it can be done. Also I found that I could not start at the beginning of cycle unless I turned off the machine at the machine then turned it off at the power then turned the dial to the beginning. Is there an easier way?
2 answers
Not too sure whether this will work, but if you haven't started the cycle in wash mode, you should be able to increase wash level by leaving the lid up during water fill.
Ill try that next time. Thank you.
