Exceptional, worth the price
We currently run small sized company that washes loads of uniforms daily for our employees, so our machine goes through a lot of use. We've had our speed queen for 18 months which would probably be equivalent to 5 years or more of what a home would use and it runs like it has on day 1. We were recommended to speed queen by hotel owners who swear by them, so thats saying something. As for functionality, its excellant, however I'd recommend the "high efficiency" setting (has two 15 rinses) for getting out stubbornly soiled clothes. An excellant product

Speed Queen Top Loader
I bought this machine on the 1/8/14 after owning a Kleenmaid for 24 years, it was a wonderful machine.
I wanted a machine with dials not electronic buttons and also able to handle big loads. After seeing other flimsy machines that friends had bought I decided not to go down that track.
The Price was $1980.00 including delivery and installation
Handles big loads, has no messy filter-- it gets rid of any thing via the rinse -- it has simple to use dials not electronic buttons -- it is not all that noisy -- it does a good clean wash -- has...Read more
a few wash settings -- can use hot, warm or cold washes -- It doesn't have a soak cycle, like the Kleenmaid had --but can fill and wash for a short time and turn off to soak --I have not yet been able to remove the agitator to clean underneath (maybe it is just very tight fit?) The Price $1980 --

hum from control panel
Good machine but has always made a slight hum from control panel.
Now hum is getting progressively louder and the sole sydney distributor wants to charge $120 callout fee for repairs, plus whatever additional labour is required.
Given the high initial price paid for a supposedly premium product, you would think the manufacturer would cover faulty parts that are only six months out from full cover, especially given this is an obvious manufacturers defect.
Not impressed in the slightest.
quick wash times for busy family
high water consumption

Simply brilliant.....But...
After an ongoing disaster with a Samsung washer which was finally resolved after 8 months I decided to buy THE best machine on the planet (in my opinion). I had always resisted paying $2000 for a washing machine- bad error now rectified. There is nothing outwardly complex with this machine; it does not wash all your clothes in an eggcup full of water, nor rock the baby or iron the clothes at the same time. What it DOES do is wash them well.....very well. Simple, easy to use HUGE capacity- this unit has everything you could wish for. Only 2 of u...Read more
s at home, but when 2 kids and their partners arrive, the chaos of their utilising every single towel in the place within a weekend causes not one hiccup!. BUT............if you DO buy one, PLEASE make absolutely sure you buy it from a reputable place!. I bought from an on-line company (but paid the same price it seems), THEN the REAL company (Costello's in Western Australia) had to correctly fit the machine, correctly balance and correctly check the unit. It was only later (upon my return from almost 8 months inter-state, that I noticed the original delivery guys had damaged the metal "hood" which covers the control panel at the top of the machine. Hard to see- I agree, but on a $2000 unit it is somewhat unsightly IF you look for it. When you know it is there, you notice it every single time. So.........invest in this unit; better than anything out of China, India, Sri Lanka or any European country. I would recommend this unit AND F.L. Costello of Osbourne Park (WA). Thank you. It simply does what it is supposed to do. Would like it to have a soap dispenser partition.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent Choice
Purchased a Speed Queen Washing Machine 3 months ago and very happy with the results. We decided to purchase a Speed Queen after the excellent reviews on Product Review Australia and it was also the very machine the retail store recommended. Wanted a machine that was sturdy, reliable, easy to use and was going to give a good wash without breaking down. Despite being expensive to purchase it gives a great wash. My only 2 negatives are that it doesn't have a drip-dry facility to enable the machine to stop before spinning which means items tha...Read more

Speed Queen THE BEST!!!!
After having a front loader for the past 8 yrs I'm kicking myself as to why I didn't buy a Speed Queen in the first place! Super quick. Washing comes out clean! It's quiet. My house no longer shakes whenever my washing is in spin cycle. I'm in love! It's definitely worth every dollar spent in buying it. My last machine took just over 3 hours to do one load of washing & after all that time, I still had stains. The Speed Queen is super fast and actually washes!!!! Finally, a decent machine that does what it says! Thank you Speed Queen.

chine without water spraying everywhere and flooding the laundry. Called Speed Queen today to organize a service to supply and install a new drain hose and was quoted $250 - $300! It’s just a plastic hose! Was told that that’s the cheapest part to replace on the machine. Yes I love the machine, but I can’t fathom how a plastic drain outlet hose could cost $250 installed?! For a few hundred dollars more than the repair I could buy a brand new machine nearly twice the Speed Queens size.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

They do make 'em like they used to!
After coveting my mothers Maytag top loading washer for years and being frustrated at not being able to get one, or anything even remotely similar, I was relieved to finally find Speed Queen! Sturdy construction, large stainless steel tub, huge dials and really intuitive operation - this washer is exactly what I've been looking for! It's the only one on the market. The functions are basic, but let's fact it, that's all you ever need. Oh, and the best thing....the "spin only" cycle!! Don't bother with all these other plastic things that play bel...Read more

These are in every laundry room, on nearly every mine site and they are brilliant. They get loaded with filthy clothes and thrashed constantly and still do a great wash every time, I prefer washing my clothes at work rather than at home!

8kg Speedqueen (Kleenmaid) washing machine Absolutely Reliable!!!!
I have been operating my wonderful Speedqueen in my B&B with maximum loads at least every second day for 6 years. Touch wood, no problems at all. Essentially, the best lint free washes I have ever had from any machine in over 40 years! If it ever gave up I would buy another - no matter the additional expense!
I was recommended to buy one by another B&B operator who had hers, trouble free, for 10 years!
Remember that the more electronics a washing machine has the more likely, and, more expensive the problems. These machines are simple and absolutely reliable.

Could not be happier
If you buy a washing machine that is not a Speed Queen you are throwing away money. First Kleenmaid (which was manufactured by Speed Queen) lasted 22 years. Just bough the replacement which is the same AWNA62 with different stickers. The salesman told me to choose carefully as it was my kids inheritance I was buying.... Only non plastic machine for sale in the whole store.
Quality and durability
Expensive but you get what you pay for. Over 20 years it is cheap!

A wonderful machine
I bought this machine recently on the recommendation of a friend. My previous machines had all lasted for years so I was looking for another one to do the same. I have been totally impressed with the Speed Queen. The bowl is stainless steel, not plastic and it takes large washes. It is more expensive than other machines but I feel sure that it will last longer and not require mechanical repairs. Washes clothes brilliantly.
Reliable, solid unit
Costs more than other machines but well worth it for the quality.

Best wash wih no lint.
I have been a Plumber since 1973 and work in a lot of laundrys. This Speed Queen Machine is fantastic. The machine is simple and it does a great job. No lint an my wash and no unbalancing. It will not move.We have a family of 5 and I do at least 2 loads a day.You will not get a better washing machine for the money. Also, don't get sucked into buying a front loader. This is the only machine to buy and it is cheaper.
Built to last.

Loving My Washing Machine
We purchased this machine after having 3 previous machines in less than 10 years that obviously weren't built to last. This machine has many options without going overboard and manages to wash our clothes clean the first time. I mostly wash on the hot/warm wash just because i like the way the clothes turn out. My delicates love being washed in this machine and we haven't had a problem with it - i'd buy the matching dryer if we had the space in the laundry.
Reliable, solid

Excellent
I have no hesitation in recommending this machine. It is the BEST machine I have ever owned. When you purchase this machine you won't be sorry.
I have bought this machine after a bad experience with another brand. This machine is fantastic and I absolutely love it. Washes big loads beautifully, no lint and is fast. Many wash options. This machine is quality plus and I am confident it will last for many years.
I have noticed the spin cycle leaves the clothes a little less dry - not a problem for me thought. The advantages of this machine far out way this issue.

shed. We wonder if this machine is worth repairing or to purchase a new, although, cheaper machine as we would only require a trouble free period of about 10 to 12 years if we conform to the Australian death statistics. The V-drive belt was replaced once by myself, a former mechanical engineer, and I do believe that all this machine requires is a new shaft seal under the agitator which stubbornly refuses to come off. Any help would be appreciatedGearbox will be full of water & top shaft & bush worn. Great machine to work on. Latest model very similar.
We have two speed queen washers in our park laundry and they are still going after 25years of constant use. . . What else can you say?

Good machine
I am very pleased with my Speed Queen washer. I was told this one would last around 20yrs.My last industrial machines lasted 15yrs each so here's hoping.
It seems very sturdy and does a good job cleaning the clothes, even when I over fill it.
Control knobs are not that great(wet hands slip on knobs) but you get used to them. They are simple so hopefully less likely to break down.
I like the self balancing and the large capacity tub.
I think the $2000 price tag is worth it, especially if it lasts 20yrs as the installer said.
Large capacity, quick, cleans clothes well, simple controls.
Yes, control knobs are not that great until you get used to them.

I have accidentally pressed the High Efficiency button, how long will this soak for? And how can I get out of that setting now during this wash? It has been flashing for an hour
4 answers
Hi Leah, I checked the manual because I don't personally use the high efficiency setting . All it seems to say is to expect soaking during the agitation portion of the cycle. The IN USE, RINSE and SPIN status lights will flash one after the other during the soak periods. It's been several hours since you posted the question. Did your machine eventually complete the cycle? If it's still flashing I'd contact SpeedQueen in case it has a faulty module.
Hey, sounds normal, it has multiple long soak times and some washing actions with this setting.
My machine on this setting, washes / soaks for around 90 - 100 mins. ( A light flashes when its doing the soaking thing )
thank you
Shara F.asked
Hi there. Can you tell me how we add extra water when we add extra clothes? I dont think it can be done. Also I found that I could not start at the beginning of cycle unless I turned off the machine at the machine then turned it off at the power then turned the dial to the beginning. Is there an easier way?
2 answers
Not too sure whether this will work, but if you haven't started the cycle in wash mode, you should be able to increase wash level by leaving the lid up during water fill.
Ill try that next time. Thank you.
