We've changed our mind on some selections and noticed a few that weren't correct on our final selections contract (we haven't signed off on yet). We emailed our design consultant but the only response we received was one that emitted annoyance towards us with no questions or anything in our previous emailed referred too in a helpful manner. I understand from a designers point of view it can be frustrating if people change their mind but surely if we are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a home we have a right to make sure we are 100% content with our choices regardless of that meaning some things will be changed?

Hi Anonymos,

I believe you can change your mind but it might cost you a change fee. If no answer comes you can ask for a manager phone/ email. A phone call can solve some doubts.
Good luck.

Hi is the quote for paving or concrete for the driveway usually mentioned in the original quote before you sign your contract or after you pay the deposit money

Hi Raiz, we didnt ask nor was it mentioned in the quote.
I suggest you ask for a price before you sign the contact.

Hi Riaz,

Unless you ask for driveway to be added into the contract, it won't be added. You better go to a good sales consultant and there shouldn't be any issues. Otherwise, can be difficult to predict.
A good consultant won't please you with the price initially. However, when you receive you footings report you will be pleased.
Whereas, a bad sales consultant will attract you with the best price that will be all underrated and when you see a real price you will be very angry and upset.
So, good luck.

Hi. I was given a footing cost off around $34000 but after soil test & engineering report, its gone up to $40000.
Can't believe as i was in a tight budget but seems now i have to change my mind to build with you anymore.
Wondering if i do my own soil test & get the report for my satisfaction? Will you accept that report?
Thanks

Hi,
Just wondering what the general time frame is for the 2nd fix phase.?
Our 2nd fix period started 23rd March & we were told a rough hand over date early May that was moved back to end of May which is only 4 weeks away. I'm mainly wondering as we still have no eaves up (which have been sitting on the ground in weather for 4 weeks now). Also waiting for bathroom/kitchen bench tops, plumbing, electrical fitting throughout, tiling in all wet areas, painting inside & out, air con, solar panels & solar heating....
Thank you in advance

Hello, our Statesman home is About 10 years old. Ensuite is leaking and has ruined the carpet in our bedroom and walk in robe. The door frames have swollen and paintwork bubbling. We have stopped using the ensuite until we can determine how best to go about fixing this problem. Our family is now using the main bathroom which we rarely used before this occurred. Have now noticed the main bathroom leaking also. Great concern that there is water proofing issue and what other problems this is creating that we can't see. Two bathrooms in the same house leaking. Help!!

Thank you Rebecca

Hi Nat,

The pendant lights in the Medindie display home were purchased from a lighting supplier who is no longer operating. We now source our lights from Beacon Lighting and I'm sure they'd be happy to assist in locating you something similar.

Mrs Warrenasked

We have had some problems with Statesman, and are about to build again, likely not signing up, but getting quotes. Our home is now 10 years young but these concerns detail that sub standard subbies built our home.
It took almost twelve months for slab because our stuff got stuck (lost, forgotten, misplaced) with engineering then the plan was wrong.
The issues are;
The Carport collapsed
Gable board flew off the front, and the next one is coming away too
Bench tops were not rolled under and The wood is expanding past the laminate
Kitchen Cupboard doors are peeling off (duroform) pot drawer has abig bubble in it, utensil drawer starting to peel
Bathroom and Ensuite tiling, the floor spacer pegs were grouted over, now the grout is coming away, stopped using ensuite ages ago, now can see the pegs in bathroom. We had the carport fixed, and one side of the gable, the rest has not been repaired but they know.
So what is the warranty on kitchen's? Does the tiling meet builders regulations?

I will call again, but have done before.

Carport repair was amaze balls, and the one side of the gable Was fixed too

Would appreciate the tiling and grout being fixed in the shower alcoves, and kitchen being assessed, as perhaps a dodgy supplier. The gable on the other side requires securing.

Have to say I was and still am very disappointed with second rate quality took forever to build my daughters home then have the fit out so rushed that kitchen cabinet doors and towel rails started falling apart 3 days after she moved in and the huge pile of dirt that is still sitting in her front yard most of which isn't even from her lot she paid a fortune for a small landscaped garden that has been almost buried under a mound of dirt I would like to know that statesman/hickinbothem are going to resolve this for her without her having to pay out even more money?

Can't answer that...I was a customer and found you had to hassle them (a lot). There's a lot we gave up caring about (the effort wasn't worth it)...we were disappointed but ultimately realise we chose them because they're cheap - and we learnt you get what you pay for....

Can totally understand when we built with Statesman recently (taking house in November 2014) we paid a large amount in our contract with them to clear the lot, but that was a joke, when we got the keys we had to hire a private contractor to clear away weeds that were higher than the fence, metal poles that had been spaced out along 2 sides of property and they had weedmat attached to them (why??), the weed matting was under about 1/2 metre of dirt and rubble and the poles in the ground about a metre or so.
The contractor had to work hard and long to clear the site so we could start to landscape the yard and it cost us many $$$$ to get it done, we spoke to Statesman at handover about the state of the lot was were dismissed by the building supervisor. We are still arguing with Statesman about our brickwork and an error made by them (but of course it is not their fault). So over them I am now going to get very vocal about them.
