This mower is perfect for me
I have used this mower for about 3 years now. It is ideal for my suburban block. It is my first battery mower. No noise, no fumes, no trouble. I am 'all battery' now (all Stihl) and absolutely happy with that. The mower is light and easy to maneuver. It has a big catcher, that is easy to empty and easy to fit. Simple lightweight height adjustment. I use the mulcher attachment most of the time which also fits easily. I store it with the handle folded down, which is just one thumb push and down it goes. square meters of well kept grass that is not hard to mow. The mower would do the yard about one and half times on a battery. I have two batteries and a fast charger. A flat battery will charge faster than I can discharge the other one with any of my battery tools. My only complaint is that I think it should rev faster as there is a tendency to 'rip' at tufty grass rather than cut cleanly. Minor point for me.Purchased in March 2021 at The Gap Handiman.

Barely 10hours use and failed
After around 10hours use the mower failed with a broken drive belt. Stihl refused to repair it under warranty claiming a small peice of wood got in the motor. If any debris can get into a fully sealed motor or gearbox causing a brand new mower to fail, I would suggest a significant design fault. Stihl blamed us stating the mower is not as good as its petrol equivalent and what did we expect.
Unfortunately you only find out how bad a company is to deal with after you have a problem.

When the old mower died, I thought I'd investigate cordless electric [battery powered] mowers, thinking I'd probably just end up with a petrol one again. After a few weeks I settled on this Stihl model, mainly because of the number of really positive reviews for the smaller model, and especially because the equivalent Ryobi mower biggest complaint was batteries basically being useless after about two years. I felt it was worth the extra $50 to get the battery charged done in an hour compared to three, but it wasn't worth another $50 to get a half hour charge. The results have been great so far. I have a 1100 square metre block, I can mow it all in two charges. On the first try, I did all the back lawn (the smaller area) - with 4 weeks grass growth - plus a little bit of the front in one charge, the rest of the front I did on another charge. This week, I've managed the back plus about a quarter of the front on a single charge. The machine runs for around 35 minutes on one charge. I've yet to see what effect the mulcher kit has on the battery life. My one problem was fitting the mulcher blades: the bolt holding the original blades on was screwed in tightly, but has a plastic head, so when I applied pressure with my spanner, all I did was deform the bolt head. I quickly gave up on that, took it back to the shop and they managed it with their greater array of tools. I'm wary of the plastic body (and plastic bolt heads!), but it does have the advantage of being very light (I can pick the whole thing up with one hand, no problem.
