Handy lil fryer
Purchased this fryer back in October . Quite happy with it. Bit bigger than we anticipated so it sits on the kitchen bench now. Fries nicely, oil lasts about 4 fries and takes 2 Ltrs at a time. Easy to clean, the oil pan come away from the frame so it can be poured into a container to get rid of.
Only thing I dont like is the lid when you take it of, be careful of the steam release.
For $59 on special its a good deal
Purchased in October 2021 at Joyce Mayne for $59.00.

Perfect for my family. Nice and compact.
The fryer heats up quickly and works well. The fryer element is suspended and therefore there is no burning floaties in the oil. Very easy to clean as the basket and container is dishwasher proof.
Purchased in July 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $97.00.

Df6300 winner
I admit i love sunbeam . Their products may be dear but they last! I bought my fryer in around 2010.its still going. You can't scrub the dial of course as with oil the numbers will wear off. It has a large capacity. Thermometer is still accurate... Cleaning the basket can be difficult if you use crumbing and don't clean it before frying it harder on. I have over heated it a couple of times through my own fault and have to remember where the reset button is. All in all can't complain about the longevity. When this dies i well buy another s it is still the current model!

Great little Fryer
This benchtop fryer works very well. Heats up quickly. Holds 4lt of oil with a good-sized basket that allows you to get in a reasonable amount of food without it sticking together.
Easy to clean as well.
At less than $100 it is a good deal and better than many others out there.

Comes with several shortcomings
I purchased my Sunbeam DF6300 4.0 litre cool-zone Deep Fryer over 10 years ago for $100 from the Mirrabooka RetraVision store. At the time of purchase I liked the look of it's stainless steel body with it's black plastic lid. This deep fryer has always cooked well. It's large cooking basket is perfect for cooking Scotch eggs and Chiko Rolls.
After a few years of use I noticed several shortcomings with this deep fryer. The printed numbers on the thermostat dial fade to the point where you can not see them. The screws that secure the handle t...Read more
o the cooking basket have almost rusted away. The plastic basket handle is not heatproof, so it will melt if you fold it away before the oil has cooled. The plastic control unit is difficult to clean because it can only be cleaned by hand with a damp cloth. It can never be submersed in water. Lastly, only the cooking tub is stainless steel. The actual base of this fryer is chrome plated and not made from stainless steel as we are led to believe. That's why it is described as a Brushed Stainless Steel Deep Fryer on the box. Overall the Sunbeam DF6300 does what it is meant to do. It cooks well, but is no more superior to a no-name brand deep fryer that can be purchased at a third of the price. Cooks well, large cooking basket Basket plastic handle screws rust. Base of fryer is not stainless steel, printed thermostat indicator numbers fadeSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great product
After lots of research we chose this Sunbeam deep fryer because of the look, price and reviews. It is proving great value for money and does the job quite well. It's easy to clean and has a good range of temperature settings. Cooks food well and we're happy with it.
Good value for money, looks good, easy to clean.

Excellent
This is a really great deep fryer!
The size capacity allows you to cook lots of food at once and the basket is wider rather than deep which seems to make the food cook more evenly.
The cool zone at the bottom stops any crumbs that come off the food from becoming charred so you can more easily strain the oil and use it again.
It can also be completely disassembled which makes cleaning it really easy, you can also take out the oil tub and store it in the fridge if you know you are going to be using it again soon. (note that this part is ...Read more
quite big though so you probably need a big fridge if you want to do it) The only problem I have found is that the viewing window fogs up during cooking so that you can't see the food cooking. Quick to heat up, temperature gauge, completely disassembles for cleaning. Glass viewing window fogs up when cooking.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good
We're tried cooking several types of food in this little baby and overall are very happy with it. However, we've found it's a waste of time referring to all the various temperature settings for different foods, just have it flat out at 190 degrees all the time. EG, the manual's way of cooking "the perfect chip" (from raw potatoes) is to cook for 7-8 minutes at 140 degrees then 7-8 minutes at 190 degrees, but then you end up with a dry shell which is horrible. I found that 190 for 5 minutes, then remove the chips and allow the oil to regain 100%...Read more
temperature, then another 5 minutes. Same with frozen chips. Fish ditto, prawns just one dip or they're overcooked. The biggest downside is that the oil won't get hot enough, probably some regulation or liability thing! EG, for tempura it needs to go to 220-230 degrees so if you try cooking in this gadget it just ends up a boiled mess. Ditto for calamari (squid), by the times it's crispy the calamari is hopelessly overcooked. Major Tip: if using battered food make sure you lower it very slowly into the hot oil so it's cooking as it goes down - if you just drop it in it'll sink straight to the bottom and weld itself around the wire basket! So overall this is a great gadget for making chips and simple stuff but not for high temperature cooking - use a wok. It takes a lot of oil but that's fine because it is a "deep fryer" but be aware that if you cook fish the oil will stink of fish forever Works well, makes good crispy food, very easy to clean Not hot enoughSimilar opinion? Questions & Answers
janscoasked
how long can you leave the oil in the deep fryer?
1 answer
Until it is no longer usable.
If the oil starts bubbling up towards the top it should be changed. This indicates it is both dirty and has too much moisture trapped in it. Oil like this will not cook properly and can be dangerous as it will overflow when used.
jonnyasked
Has anyone had an eruption of bubbles of steam go over the top and all over the bench as the oil cools down after being rurned off for 4 minutes?. It seems like water may lie under the element until an exact temperature causes the dangerous currents, and the water hits the hot oil. I had over 2 litres of oil erupt over the top in bubbles and onto the bench
Am I the only one?
Jon
1 answer
This will happen if you do not change the oil regularly.
Water from deep-fried foods builds up in the oil and eventually it froths up over the top.
It also badly affects the actual cooking of the foods.
Once you see this frothing starting, change the oil.

Is anyone able to advise the first year of manufacture for DF6300?
Had one for years but cannot remember how old it is.

Hi Keith, I have had mine for years as well and I really dont like it much, gets gluggy and hard to clean, however the grandkids tell me they love the chips. So I guess being clean does not beat good chips. It serves a purpose.
