From my perspective absolute rubbish, I am so over Sunbeam. Noisy, and very poor temperature calibration, The milk frothing component is next to useless Still trading on their pre nineties reputation. Their product and after sales service sucks. Fortunately the one I had came from Big W, and true to their reputation, they did not hesitate and gave me a full refund on the spot!

I'm sorry that your experiencing this problem...hope I don't. I've only had my machine for a month, I use it regularly and love it. We do have a problem though.... We're put off going to our favourite cafe, our coffee is just as good.

The milk temp is out due to the design. The sensor is around the back of the wand, and it is, (IMO) not properly insulated - I don't know if it can be - so it is reading temp OF THE WAND, not of the milk.

I had EM6910 & used clip-on thermometers when making milk - barista course I did said you could tell the temp accurately by hand. That 's not true so I got thermos & calibrated using hot tap water and medical grade thermometer. So with EM7000 I used them & the built in thermo & found there is approx 5º discrepancy between what built in reads & actual temp out in the milk.

No biggie, you just let the thermo get to about 5º the recommended region.

But your case sounds like the exact opposite. I suggest first get a clip on thermo (cost about $12 - $15) and check your milk temps. If the situation is as you describe your machine is faulty and should be returned under warranty.

Also...

I don't think the tip comes off on the EM7000.

To keep things clean I run a cleaner (mixed with water in the tank) through the wand every so often. Cino Cleano is available from my local roaster and does an excellent job. But 2 tricks will help you never having to worry about it.
1. When turn off steam, remove wand from milk BEFORE steam stops. Takes a little practice & you have to pull jug away at angle of the wand to avoid splash. What happens is, if you follow SB recommendation, steam is highly expanded water, & when that stops pushing out the tip, milk can be sucked back up wand. Removing wand BEFORE steam stops (but after you turn it off) prevents this suction effect.
2. After EVERY use, purge the steam. Point the wand back into drip tray and run steam for few seconds. Removes any gunk in wand before it can cook and congeal.
