Cheap

published

Its the cheap yet usefull good branded stick blender availabe in the market. Dont know why some are close to $100 when this is availability under 30 yet same functions. Easy to operate, nice colour combinations. Only frequently used accessories included. The wire should be a bit longer than what it is now.

Just an update folks. the newer models come with soft start motor operation where they start from low to high speed electronically. The good news is that all the attachments that make it work well still come with it.

Awesome Product

published

Have been using this mixer to make my smoothies in the morning and have not had an issue yet.
It crushes ice with ease and has been great at blending all products. I also love the ease of the interchangeable accessories, which have all been put to good use. Also easy to clean.

Bought a while ago and is still working fantastic. My first sticker blender and I don't think I could ever go back to a normal blender. It is easy to store, easy to clean and works quickly which is everything an original blender isn't. Mine though does seem to une cessation loud.

Happy happy happy

published

This Sunbeam Stickmaster Plus was purchased to replace another very ordinary, poor performing product (of a different brand and reviewed elsewhere) and I couldn't be happier. Strong stable components, consistent blitzing & chopping and easy to clean. It gets plenty of use. I am very pleased and will "stick" with Sunbeam in the future.

Worked well for a while...

published

Was disappointed this became such a throw-away item. It worked really well for four and a half years, but when trying to blitz up some breadcrumbs from bread that was probably still too frozen, the motor appears to have burnt out. Phoned Sunbeam and they confirmed the warranty is just 1 year, and they don't sell/supply just the handle (motor) part. Very sad to have to ditch the thing and all the parts into landfill, when it's all still working so well apart from the motor!

Motor died between 3-8 months

published

I also used 2 of those sticks. First time, after 8 months, the motor just stop and not running at all. Exchange for the second one, the motor stop again after 3 months. So I decided not to continue using this model. Not sure if I can trust the Sunbeam brand after trying this model.

Great results and value

published

I'm really surprised at some of the other revies maybe the bad reviews were an older model??? I've never had a problem with my sunbeam products or customer service. I've used the whisk, the chopping bowl and the stick to purée. It's really easy to change to different components. Better than other ones in the same price range and it comes with all the expected useful components that some don't have.

Solid well detailed stick blender.

published

I am new to Sunbeam and this blender was bought mostly due it's reasonable price. I have grown to this machine for its no nonsense work ethic. Design wise the machine is well thought out and the materials have a solid feel. The accessories are equally sorted. I would recommend this blender to anyone.

If you only have one gadget in the kitchen make it this one!

published

This does so many jobs - the smoothest pumpkin soup with the stick, the best iced coffee in the tall jug, the finest chopped herbs in the small jug with blades, the best crumble in the small jug for apple crumble and biscuit crumbs for cheesecake base. Washing up is simple and there is no complicated assembly. If you like to cook this is as important as good knives and a wooden spoon.

Good product and great value for money

published

I have used my stick mixer regularly for more than a year since purchase and have had none of the troubles with the motor dying that others have mentioned. Blending large pots of soup is easy and chopping nuts, onions etc is quick work with the various attachments. You will get longer life out of the plastic ware if it is not put through the dishwasher. My only complaint is that the lid of the chopping container has had water caught inside it and there seems to be no way for it to get out again.

It should be forbidden to sell it

I also used 2 of those sticks within 3 months. Both times motor died in middle or mixing, don't remember what I used first time but second time died when I was whisking eggs. Never ever will buy anything that is labeled as Sunbeam.

Lasted about 10 years of consistent use

published

I bought this with my credit card points about 10 years ago. I used it for making banana smoothies (with frozen banana), crushing ice, blending hot soups, chopping nuts, pestos & more recently blitzing meat & veggies for baby food. I noticed in the last 6 months the plastic had started to crack & I was a bit concerned. Unfortunately the motor blew up today blitzing risotto. It's sad to read that others haven't had the longevity that I have. Maybe Sunbeam are making it cheaper & not meant to last anymore. I must say I'm sad it's died. Its one of the best, most useful appliances I've ever 'bought'.

I love this appliance - can't live without it!

published

I've had my stickblender for ages - maybe 2-3 years? I'm surprised by the other comments as I use mine almost every week. I mostly use the small bowl with the lid, and I've used it for breaking up nuts, chocolate, biscuits for tart bases, cheese ... I've also used it to quickly blend together some items such as breadcrumbs and cheese, eggs and whatever - found so many uses for it! The small bowl has just developed cracks in its base so I've ordered what I hope is a replacement off ebay ... similar to another comment on this page the brand name has worn off the product (from so much use) but I'm hopeful I've matched it correctly. Perhaps the earlier versions of this stick blender were built of sturdier stuff because I just love this product.

Very disappointed - Sunbeam StickMaster

published

First motor died the first time it was used pureeing bananas, went and got a new one as replacement. Second motor died the third time it was used while making a smoothie. Can't believe this $130 Sunbeam StickMaster can't even do the job of my $50 Kambrook stick blender which is still in great working order after almost 3 years. Not even going to bother with another Sunbeam.

Rubbish

published

Well, the motor in my second Stickmaster just died. The first one lasted about a week, this one lasted about a month. Very unimpressed with the quality of this product. First time the motor stopped while blending milk and banana smoothies, second time while using the chopping container part to dice some wall nuts - neither of which I believe to be overly hard work for this type of appliance. Purchased at the good guys and will be taking it back asking for a refund. It's pretty good when it works I suppose, but no better than any other barmix I've ever used. Thought the first was a lemon, but two in as many months? Not a happy camper!
It was good while it lasted

Pitiful Plastic

published

This blender was used twice, admittedly the second time to try and crush ice, but the base cracked rendering it unusable. Plastic seems useless on such utensils, and I felt terrible throwing away something relatively new, and non recyclable . My old Bamix has at least a metal base, and reading other reviews it seems the plastic on these fare no better in hot liquids. How do products like this get past the testing stage?
Ease of handling
Terrible case quality. Who knows how long the motor may have lasted?

Fine when it works

published

The small plastic cog at the top of the metal shaft is totally under engineered. Ours broke twice during warranty and Sunbeam refuses to warrant it after that. They're customer service is terrible and they just fob you off to their expensive service agents.

The unit is fine when it worked, I agree with other positive reviews, but this thing is brittle and backed up by Sunbeam who just don't care about standing behind their products.

I love it!

published

My mum gave me this for Christmas 2011 and I just love it! I'm an avid cook and use it for everything from chopping herbs, whisking egg whites to crumbling Parmesan cheese. I use it pretty much every 2nd day.
The ONLY thing that I didn't like is that the base of the chopping vessel has cracked. I found a replacement online for $26, but glued the outside base instead and it's still going strong. I'll buy the replacement as the rest is doing fine. I was so impressed that I bought one for my mum!

Do not buy this appliance. Mine lasted 2 months before I was using it and it clicked and then just stopped working. I did not have my reciept and now I cannot get this exchanged or my money back. I would highly reccomend you do not buy this product. BIg W would not return it because I did not have a reciept and Sunbeam were totally unhelpful.
It worked well but broke after approx 5 uses!

Broken and part not available

published

I was pretty happy with this product for the nearly 2 years I had it. It did a great job on soup and smoothies, then it broke down while pureeing soup. The culprit was a tiny plastic part that sits at the top of the drive shaft. I decided to get a new part. But you can't buy it. You have to buy a whole new blender attachment. I object to throwing a perfectly good blender in the bin for the want of one tiny part. I will avoid sunbeam in future. I'm getting a blender attachment for my magimix instead.
Good for blending. Compact.
Broke down after less than two years. Part not available.

Same happened to me - twice!! The second time within 12 months. Sunbeam never responded to my enquiries.
Onto a different brand now - fingers crossed.

Great product at reasonable price

published

I bought this stick blender SM6400 with chopper and whisk from Appliances online. The blender is powerful enough to blend or puree vegies and even cooked meat chunk. The chopper is extremely useful to chop up things like onions, carrots, making breadcrumbs in seconds. The whisk is great for blending cake mixture. And it is easy to clean by running them under the tap - nothing get stuck on the blades.
Space saving, powerful motor, easy to clean, affordable

Don't buy this it has a cheap motor

published

I went through 2 of these stick mixers. Both stick mixer motors blew and smoke pore out from the top. My wife refused to use it after the the experienced with the first one, i thought first one was lemon and got the same mixer again from kmart. What an mistake, second one also blew the motor. It is bit scarey when it happens. I think the main problem is this has a 600W motor in a very confined space and the hand unit very light. This all means sunbeam have used less material (motor core material) for the motor, resulting in heat and eventual motor blow up.
Looked good, the plastic containers are perfect size
Cheap motor in it

What a disgrace!

I absolutely loved this product when I first got it! Within 2 years of acquiring this, the plastic jug cracked and tonight the blade fell out of the stick into our soup, releasing disgusting toxic old food residue into our soup, spoiling our food completely. I will never get the StickMaster again!
Powerful motor, great product when brand new
Plastic jug cracked on bottom, so blades could no longer stay in jug. Blade fell out of stick. Toxic buildup of food residue inside stick released when blade fell out of stick!
