I want to cook sweet potato fries and egg rolls separately. Do I use the paddle?
Beeasked
I have a Tefal Actifry original and unfortunately, my chips are not browning at all. I do dry the potatoes before cooking them in the Actifry. I have tried various varieties of potato but none brown. Is my Actifry not working properly?

Hey Bee are you putting a little bit of oil in? I found that when I forgot to put any oil in my chips wouldn't brown up properly. I use just a little drizzle.
When I read the instruction booklet it said you have to cut the chips the same size and also rinse them throughly to get all the starch off of them. I personally didn’t want to go to that much effort so I sold mine. not sure if this will help you
I use frozen/oven fries from Coles, McCains etc. I don't make my own. I don't use oil at all and end up with perfect chips each time. My children also use the basket to reheat chips from KFC, the fish and chip etc and it keeps them crisp rather than soggy from the microwave.

Hi I’ve got an actifry but looking for a snack basket for it aw950040 it’s a family one, any help?

Hi, I got mine from the Good Guys but, I have also bought genuine parts of Ebay. I have seen it on there too. You can also call Tefal Australia direct as they do sell "spare" parts for your Actifry. (They are just a little dearer than Ebay.) Hope that helps.

Why does Tefal not sell a cover for when not using the paddle. I have used a small good quality cup and cover the hole but seems would be better if you just made a cover without the stirring tool.

There is a basket that you can get to go over the hole and cook your food without using the paddle. Otherwise, the paddle is needed.

How long should you wait for it to heat up?
1 answer
I don't wait for my airfryer to heat up. I load it up with food, close the lid, set the timer and push start. IN 25-30 minutes usually (dependant on what I am cooking), I have a properly cooked meal.

I've only jus bought my actifry. Cooked fish fingers in there and they came out all mashed up and so did my bean burger. Think the paddle has something to do with it. Is they anything I can do to stop this from happening?

I wouldn't use the paddle for anything delicate. It just destroys the food (as you have found). There is no way to stop the paddle from turning. You could ring tefal to see what they recommend for these types of dishes. I believe the double decker machines, you can cook salmon on the top tray, while the bottom turns and cooks veggies. Mine is the original single level and because it is out of warranty, I remove my paddle and place a solid stainless steel ramekin over the void and I can cook food without a turning paddle, but this is what I personally do, successfully, but I can't tell how your machine would go, nor can I recommend this is safe, and I wouldn't do this if your machine is new with warranty. I would hate for anything to happen.
I found that when I first got it too, but I bought a Actifry snacking basket like the one in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5D_toPOClw
and have no trouble at all anymore. It sits in place of the paddle and doesn't push the food around.
I cook chicken nuggets, fish fingers, chiko rolls, spring rolls... All sorts of things and have had no trouble.
My kids even use it to reheat KFC or Fish and chips nicely.
You can buy them on ebay as well as through Tefal.
Hope that helps.

Hi I just bought a Actifryer yesterday and tried it out. I started with one pound of drum sticks ( about 30 min of cook time) that turned out great and immediately went for a pound of Fries, however when started to make the Fries the paddle did not work. turned it on and off a few times with no luck (I also checked nothing was physically preventing the paddle). I tested today and the arm was turning again. is this an overheating issue?
