We have just bought the Cuisine Companion but are finding it very difficult to open and close the lid as it is so stiff. Is it designed to be like this? Has anyone else found this to be a problem?

Has anyone had a problem with the blades not turning? It seems pointless to have a machine this expensive that doesn’t chop or stir!

I’ve had my machine for nearly 2 years and never had an issue with the blades turning.

Stevo

We had exactly the same issue just before the warranty expired (see my review). Blades would turn initially but as the resistance increased the blades slowed down & eventually stopped. Had the machine replaced under warranty after some back and forth with Tefal customer service.

Thanks Steve. That’s really helpful.

2 year warranty plus extra for the motor I believe. If you are on at social media, there are some really awesome groups specific to the Tefal Cuisine Companion

Does this machine brown your food like onions etc first before cooking say a curry?

It doesn't brown but does saute very well. I think you probably could brown if using a manual setting.

No it doesnt! At the end of every program CC goes into 'keep warm 'stage, obviously, you didnt hear it beeping at the end of the P3 program???? and didnt press stop.... so CC keeps it warm for you!

My Tefal Cusine Companion is just on 3 years old and I have now noticed that the plastic clear lid is cracking (fracturing in two spots). I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue please?
Obviously I will have to get a new lid.

Hi I always take the lid off first and grab the handles. Underneath the handles you will feel two buttons, press those up and the bowl clips off easily

Ive never had an issue. Just grab and squeeze both handles and should release with ease. Maybe you have a faulty one??

I doubt that you can as the meat will not brown...and lets face it, we want a roast that is a roast.

It has a slow cooker option if I brown it before hand I should be able to put it in the slow cooker to finish along with other items

The manual (not recipe book) can be dl from tefal https://www.tefal.com.au/Cuisine-Companion/Cuisine-Companion-Products/Cuisine-Companion/p/8000035325 there you can see that the time range is up to 2 hours cooking time. The slow cook program is under "Stew" ie chopped meat. It does not have an oven ( dry heat) function. I would think a piece of meat would not reach internal cooked temp. using CC- even if the CC was manually reset every 2 hours unless water was involved. I dont know if there is a 2 hour a program/ or manual operation without stirring attachment (?) I have Googled and can't find ANY links for roast +CC. (I had similar problem for yogurt-cant find a suitable recipe/method with CC. :(

See recipes at Tefal website https://www.cuisinecompanion.com.au/easy-recipes. FaceBook apparently has an avid CC users group. There is also a Book /Guide with recipes & published locally, for sale on Ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Shine-with-your-Cuisine-Companion-book-Tefal/262616645312?hash=item3d252bfec0:g:IfoAAOSw-kdX0lX9:rk:1:pf:0 ..I cant imagine anyone wanting to part with the copy that comes with the machine!

Has anyone bought the spare bowl from Harvey Norman and it sets of an error code and can't be used?

Yes I bought a bowl from HN model XF382E38. It also says Cuisine Companion spare bowl in the box but doesn’t specify what model of CC it’s suitable for. After contacting Tefal they wanted to know what model Cuisine Companion I had - found on bottom of machine. HN spare bowel not compatible with cc machine model FE800A60/702. If you look at the two bowls (original & spare) you will see they’re different on the handle latch. If you have cc same as mine - Tefal advise you need spare bowl XF382E39. HN provided refund if bowl not used.

Thank-you for this information. Tefal should make it clear on the product boxes and website!! I had an unopened spare bowl with same MN -38, and no idea there were separate CC models out there to match it to. Mine turned out to be a /701 which i believe IS compatible, but Tefal disconnected me from ph and I am still awaiting email reply. Very Unsatisfactory Tefal.

Not Tefals issue, Harvey Norman sell them, let HN inform customers of what bowl they are buying!

I cooked focaccia from Justine Schofield and after adding all ingredients and pressing P1 with the dough blade and running for around 40 odd minutes I opened the lid to the mix being nothing like bread pastry, it did not come together and flour was still around the blade. So disappointed, so I thought maybe I did something wrong ( which I am a good cook) so did another batch and the same result. I have a sunbeam Bread machine and it is so good this recipe was terrible. A reply would be appreciated as I feel I have just wasted my money?

I suspect not enough liquid. pour a little extra through the lid and repeat until the mixture binds. Just be careful that you haven't undone it.

Julia

Hi,
Every time when I am cooking the Risotto classic recipe (from the Tefal Cuisine book), the bottom of the bowl burns. This is happening after I am using the first function (P1) as below:
(1) Replace the ultrablade knife with the mixer, add the oil and launch the P1 slow cook program without the stopper for 3 mins.

Did anyone has this problem?

Thanks,
Julia

I have not tried, but with normal stove top cooking this also happens if there is no lid. I would try: reduce temp, the time or to ensure the funnel lid is in place. Also compare it to another online CC risotto recipe eg.https://www.cuisinecompanion.com.au/recipe/beetroot-risotto-basil-and-feta

Hi Fran, i leave the blade in when slow cooking and wash it in the dishwasher afterward.
Although when i am doing a bread or pizza dough i do stop the pastry program and take the blade out before the rise, as i had a slight mishap once.

Thank you very much for your quick response! I did make bread yesterday leaving the kneading blade inside... it went ok. Cheers!
