A much valued appliance in my kitchen.
I have had my CC since they were released in March 2015. It is a valued appliance in my kitchen and gets a large amount of use for sweet and savoury cooking. The strong points of the machine are ease of use with intuitive controls, multiple "blades" allowing for versatility in cooking and the convenience of unattended operation. s a growing social media community as more people adopt the product. Like any of the current thermal cooking machines on the market, it does not excel at all tasks. The shape of the bowl and design of the blades mean the machine does not do a very good job at milling rice to flour, wheat to flour or chopping small amounts of garlic, ginger etc. I am hoping that a small internal bowl may be released at some point to address this issue. There has been an indication that a food processing attachment and external steamer will be released in Australia in 2016. These attachments will make the CC a truly superior machine. The only criticism that I have of the machine is that the accompanying recipe book is very European in nature and contains ingredients that are not familiar and recipes that would probably not appeal to the average Australian taste. It is possible with slight conversion to use recipes that have been written for other thermal cookers, but it would be good to see Tefal release a recipe book that has been written for the local market.1 comment

Like having your own cook in the house!
My Cuisine Companion arrived on Wednesday, it is 4 days later, I have used it every day since, tonight we had Thai Beef Massaman curry, I am seriously in love <3 Making life so much easier for me as a full time working mum this machine is awesome. It comes with a starter kit you get a cook book, apron, spatula, cleaning brush and good quality kitchen scales. it's very simple. Now the machine itself with cooking, I am finding you still need to do a little bit of prepping but that's it, you throw it all in the bowl and it tells you which program to use and off it goes. Some recipes use more than one program per recipe but you get step by step instructions. Every recipe I have tried so far has turned out beautifully. It is still early days but so far I am very happy with how the machine functions. If you are time poor this really helps your family eat good home cooked meals, I was finding that we were eating out a lot more because of convenience, we don't need to do that anymore. You do need to keep the pantry stocked though with staple ingredients. I love how some recipes literally take minutes, when I was in the store the lady doing the demo made a lemon curd in front of us, it took 12 minutes and tasted great. If you are unsure, go see a demo, watch some videos online and see how you go, keep in mind there are a lot of other similar products by many different brands but only the Tefal has the "warming" function, once your food is cooked it will keep it warm and stir it every few minutes for up to 45 mins. I love mine, wish I bought it sooner!

Love this machine
What can I say! I love the Cuisine companion! It has changed my life, my way of cooking has changed. I can whip up a couple of pizzas for my family in minutes. Its so easy it should be a crime! The C C has made me excited about cooking again. Its so quiet you hardly hear it going most of the time. Nice big bowl for cooking for a family of 6. Very easy to clean and to change blades. There are also quite a few facebook sites which are very helpful. TefalAustralia is very helpful with any questions or problems. Great customer service! Thankyou Tefal

Mixed feelings
This appliance is a big investment at $1699. It's not available in stores you have to order and pay and it is then sent out to you which I found annoying. The box is not that big so why not make them available in stores. I think the answer is that then they would be open to negotiation on price, where as when they need to be ordered there is no negotiation. I ordered on a Friday and received the following Thursday.

it did not arrive with my order I was told I was not eligible and it was an IT mistake that it was listed with my order and they would not be providing one. Not impressed given I have just spent so much money with them and to me speaks volumes about the company when they made a mistake in writing but won't honour it. The steamer on this is very small and it does not come with extra steamer baskets like the Thermomix, KitchenAid, or Bellini. At present their website states that additional bowls are also not available for purchase. - UPDATE - Tefal now have a limited number of bowls available for a cost of $299 per bowl. These are available directly from Tefal only. It is quite heavy and solid and almost all parts are dishwasher proof which is great. The 1 Million menus advertising is very deceptive, there are actually only 300 recipes (which can mix and match to be one million menus) and Choice noted in their review that a lot of them don't work well which apparently Tefal has admitted and stated they will send revised recipes to owners. There is nothing on the Cuisine Companion website to this effect and no updates in what I received. Time will tell how bad the recipes are as I work through them.1 comment

Has anyone had a problem with the blades not turning? It seems pointless to have a machine this expensive that doesn’t chop or stir!

I’ve had my machine for nearly 2 years and never had an issue with the blades turning.
We had exactly the same issue just before the warranty expired (see my review). Blades would turn initially but as the resistance increased the blades slowed down & eventually stopped. Had the machine replaced under warranty after some back and forth with Tefal customer service.
