Am extremely disappointed to fork our nearly $2,000 on an appliance that has a fault that could potentially burn and scald the user. The 'fix' is to provide a thicker wearing part in a seal that has to be replaced "every two years or when machine starts to leak" Should be recalled and refunded.
Before purchasing this machine I went to a minimum of 4 demo's over 6 years before I took the plunge and purchased the TM31. In less than 4 months I found out it was faulty and there is a brand new model. Because of the deception of this company I give you 1 star. I cannot bear slyness like this company has displayed and it is by pure chance I found out about the faulty machines

Reasonable product, but expensive and backed by a terrible company with terrible service
The TM31 is a reasonable product. However, it doesn't do everything they'll try and tell you it does, like grate, slow cook or pressure cook well. So, you still need to keep a number of other appliances they say you don't. Mine has a faulty seal, faulty measuring cup, and they lied about the upcoming new model. All things you don't expect for a product so much more expensive than the competition. When you try and contact them about these issues, they're very slow to respond, if at all. The sales consultants are getting very snarky online as they're not liking the reputation of their product be trashed, unfortunately they need to complain to Thermomix in Australia, not the people who got ripped off.
Scales vary from 5 to 10gms. Sometimes gives completely wrong measurements. Faulty seal allows hot liquid to escape if you remove lid immediately after high speed. Product obsolete even though questioned consultant prior to purchase - not good enough.

Had my TM31 only 3 weeks before it was superseded! Would never have purchased if I had of known a new model was being released; even after I asked and was told NO!! Whatever happened to keeping the customer happy??!! Paid almost $2000 for this machine and feel extremely ripped off!!

This is nothing but a blender that heats. It doesn't even heat well with low heat only. Don't bother with stir fries.
It makes an ugly coleslaw with uneven chopping. Chopping onions is uneven and sticks to the side of the bowl.
Initially thought the built in scale was cool but it is very inaccurate at 5g increment on the display but realistically about 25g accuracy.
Steaming function is meant to be a big deal but stay away from BPA plastics. The plastic basket discolours easily and retains off flavours.

Read moreou only get blended ice that's more like a slurpee in that's placed in the freezer. At this price I have nothing good to say about it. It goes side by side with other unused appliances. It had a big motor but the noise and vibrations make it hop around on the bench. The bowl is too small. Only good for a single dish. Can be used creatively to feed family of 4 but won't be leftovers.I've had a thermomix for about 6 months. It's a great machine and has helped get me out of a bit of a cooking rut, but it does seem overpriced. I do like that I can leave things to cook while I play with my kids, but there are lots of little time consuming steps involved in getting to that point (e.g. throw onion in and blitz, open lid and scrape down sides and lid etc rinse and repeat etc that just seem to add a lot of time - still better than cooking on the normal stove, but a little more labour intensive than I thought it would be). Mince an...
Read mored meat seem to get completely shredded when cooking even if you do a low speed and on reverse and it seems to make hard work out of things like rice and potatoes and the like and it's probably easier just to make them the traditional way. I have to say though that the customer service aspect has been extremely disappointing. My "consultant" was extremely attentive to me when we were discussing having a demo and then when I agreed to purchase the machine - since then it has been an incredibly tedious and frustrating experience communicating with her. She forgot to bring a component to the demo for me and I had to call and email numerous times before she accidentally answered the phone and responded to me. And then my measuring cup cracked after a few months of use. I emailed her, called and texted her numerous times to get a replacement and she accidentally called me back (not realising it was my number) and only then addressed my issue. Well "addressed" in the sense that she asked for my order number - and then promptly ignored me again. 5 weeks ago she said she would be organising for a replacement to be sent out again and still nothing. After asking whether this was a normal practice on a facebook page, several group leaders contacted me offering to help - one of which I accepted and they too seemed promising and offered to arrange replacements to be sent to me and...yet nothing. One of the big "selling" features of the thermomix at my demonstration was apparently the ongoing "support" for the machine and yet in my case this has been severely lacking. At least when I contacted thermomix directly they did promptly send a replacement measuring cup out. Except that that measuring cup has BPA in it. Apparently they have rectified these issues in the new thermomix, so it would seem that it *is* possible to have a non cracking measuring cup in a safe material - in which case it would be appreciated if they could hurry up and make the same for the thermomix 31 for their existing customers. Added to that thermomix dropped the bombshell that some of the lids leaked and there was the risk of burns. Apparently this is fixed in the new thermomix so it would seem that they were aware of this as an issue for a while and just chose not to share it. At the time I wasn't so bothered by it as my machine seemed fine, but just in the last week I noticed water leaking out the sides when I was doing a turbo blast to clean it - not particularly promising given my 3 year old was helping me cook at the time. Even though I purchased sometime before the new release and can't feel too disgruntled about having an "old" machine, I am definitely not impressed to having to suffer through faults that they have only recently mentioned after releasing a machine that has obviously been developed to fix those issues.Related Articles

We bought our thermomix just after our second child was born. Introducing solids was an absolute breeze and I am so happy to see how much unprocessed food that he eats. The recipes available are so varied and I love how it ca n be used for both healthy foods and of course for our favourite treats. My consultant has been an amazing support and often checks in to make sure I am getting value for money.

I have had my thermie for almost 16 months now and can't imagine my kitchen without it. It makes preparation and cooking for my family of 8 (including 2 adults and 3 hungry teenagers) so easy and quick!
The customer service is fantastic. Your consultant guides you through everything and is always on hand if you get stuck - just a phone call or ema away. And contrary to rumours, it isn't a pyramid scheme or party plan, the personal in home sales is simply great customer service and allowing full hands on demonstration so you know if this is ...

No pressure, no gimmicks - and no, I'm not a consultant ;) I had an issue with the clear plastic products cracking and they were replaced promptly and now the seal is in question and the company have been upfront and thorough in dealing with this issue ensuring they comply to Australia's high safety standards. I am thoroughly impressed with the machine and recommend it and the company 100%- 2 reviews

Do not touch anything from this company, they do not care about their customers. They deliberately deceive people in order to off load old products at full price and product also has a defect with the lid which could cause serious burns.
This machine has changed my families life and the way we eat, it's well worth the money and a great investment. We love this machine!
I begged my husband to fork out $2000 to buy the TM31 for me, parroting the claims that it would "change my life!" Biggest waste of money. It's a really noisy blender that doesn't do anything particularly well. I also find the aftercare particularly poor and the online community evangelical about this appliance. If anyone dares to criticise "thermie", watch out! It is difficult to clean, if you are making a batter it leaves a lot of the mixture at the bottom of the bowl without incorporating it and it's impossible to mix it in by hand because t...
Read morehe blades are in the way. I was also told it was big enough to feed large families. I only have a family of 4 and it does not cook enough food for us - the varoma is too small. I've stopped using it anyway as I recently discovered it contains BPA - no thanks!I paid $1939 for an immediately old model, I was dupped for the new model by 2 hours ! I my varoma arrived cracked, my lid jiggles unlocked during use and locks my machine, do you think I can get them to reply to an email or phone call about these problems ??
Deceitful, greedy company with no regard for customers, the only efficiency is the payment withdrawals from my account !
We have this machine in our kitchen. My wife loves it! It's helped her become more confident when experimenting with different meals. And she won't let me touch it.

At nearly $2000 and with a very slick demonstration, I expected this machine to be amazing. Sadly, it's not. Very overpriced for what it does. It's advertised as BPA free when it's not, the steaming function is hopeless, the lid opens when it's not supposed to, it spews boiling hot liquid all over itself and the user when you open it and it's ridiculously noisy. It's good for basic functions for everyday meals, but I wouldn't serve things made in it for guests. I thought it would save me time, but it hasn't really. I've gone back to using my br...
Read moreeadmaker as the results are better than using the TM31 for dough, and back to steaming things normally. The blades are tricky to clean properly and rust if you leave them soaking, and the scales are very inaccurate. I've also found out that mine is faulty (and has always been faulty) which is why hot liquid sprays everywhere when you open it. The plastic parts feel cheap and my measuring cup is already scratched and discoloured, and my spatula chipped - and my unit is only 3 months old! There are a number of machines on the market that do much the same thing for much less cost, I would recommend looking at them instead of the TM31.- 2 reviews

Machine faulty, no customer service available, just auto responses. Sold me a machine weeks before a new model was released and lied to my face. Never deal with this dodgy company again.
I have had nothing but trouble with my Thermomix and with the non-existent customer service provided by Thermomix In Australia. I have a faulty machine that has already burnt me but Thermomix In Australia refuse to replace it. Thermomix In Australia and Vorwerk have a culture of deception which makes dealing with them to get problems resolved impossible. Once they have your money they are not interested in any issues that you may have - even when they acknowledge that those issues exist. Do yourself a HUGE favour - steer clear of Themomix! T...

I have had my Thermomix for 18 months and it honestly is used everyday. It makes things simpler and easier for me. I love that we now make everything from scratch and are almost additive free. This would not have been as easy without the Thermomix.

I love my Thermomix. It is a massive time saver and so easy to use. You can make so many things and lets you eat more healthily.
It costs a small fortune!
The recipes aren't as good as the old ways of making them, for example, sauteed onions aren't browned, but I bought it for convenience.
It is VERY loud when you really crank it. But at the lower speeds, I can easily cook and not wake up my toddler.
I'd recommend it to families, and those who are time-poor, but the cheap knock-offs are probably pretty good. I'd go the new model though, if it had been around when I bought mine.
So sad that the unhappy customers, on release of the new model, are so determined to put this down. It is a wonderful machine and I can't recommend it enough! It has really changed my life- quick, easy, additive free cooking and I love my T31....despite the new release !!!!.....
