Totally unfair
Have used Tick for all our domestic travel.
Got our cover 29th January for travel to Perth 2nd July.
Now all flights cancelled and no travel!
Told there were no refunds or deferral, how unfair is that when it is out of your control.
Had insurance with another company for international travel in May they had no problem.
Not happy with tick
Very unreasonable.

Yes, have already done that and it just rebounds, maybe you could pass on our request no 343262
Just seem to be getting the runaround,
totally unacceptable.

Warning warning warning avoid avoid avoid. Zero stars.
At the time of writing this review, I have a claim pending. Based on the other reviews, I’m not holding out much hope.
I purchased this policy for a trip to Melbourne ( From Perth ) in the middle of November 2022. On the 20th March 2020 after reviewing the Australian Governments warning for domestic travel I decided to cancel my holiday.
I rang the tick insurance call centre and tried to explain the situation. The person who I spoke too was very rude and basically told me to go read the PDF. He wasn’t interested in me nor my concerns.
I tried ...Read more

They're The Cheapest Travel Insurance Around - But There's A Reason They Are
Purchased Top Domestic policy on 16/03/20.
At time, only international flights were affected by COVID-19 in/out of Australia;
On 18/03/20, Federal governments updated travel advice to Level 4, all but stopping all non-essential travel.
Tick posted email, dated 19/03/20, (3 days after I purchased policy) stating all policies purchased after 31/01/20 would not be able to make a claim because of COVID-19.

ur control. COVID19 is unprecedented. How were travellers to know what was going to happen because of the virus? We can't predict what's going to happen in the future. Who knew, before 18 March, that all travel would be restricted? It was a last minute decision made by the government, to protect Australians. Tick Travel expected us to be aware that these travel restrictions were going to be imposed, but not only that, expected us to know this would happen back on 31st January, some six or so weeks before I bought my policy. And still, tick insurance continue to take people's money for policies - policies they know are not worth the paper they are written on.

page did it state, as you claim, "that policies would no longer provide cover for coronavirus related claims". Even today, there is no reference to policies no longer providing cover for coronavirus related claims. Had the home page stated what you claim, I ask, why would I have gone ahead with the purchase, and more to the point, why did you accept our payment for the policy; and you continued to sell and accept payment for policies purchased up until 23rd March?Similar opinion? Buyer Beware, Don't Use Tick Insurance!!
Tick Travel Insurance is a bad example of the insurance industry. They are not responsible corporate citizens and put profit over ethical behavior. Under direction imposed by the Government to combat the spread of COVID-19, airlines, car hire and accommodation companies cancelled and credited bookings without penalty. These companies followed the process of the “right thing to do” by consumers. Not so the case with Tick Travel Insurance, no refund or credit will be given even though the trip will never eventuate. Tick Insurance has no exposure...Read more
. The policy purchased in good faith can never be realised as there is no more travel. Shame on you Tick Travel Insurance, let's hope through the power of social media, you too will suffer loss of revenue like you imposed on your innocent customers.1 comment

Don’t use Tick for travel insurance
Taken out insurance On 29/2/2020 for a trip to Bali, due to corona virus our trip was cancelled and out of our control, asked Tick for a refund on premium only to be told could not refund premium as it is outside 14 day cooling off period, surely this would not apply to the current circumstances. Tick insurance are only interested in taking your money nothing else. We are all in this together Tick Travel Insurance.

Impossible to claim
I took out insurance on Feb 25 to cover an April Sydney-Cairns return trip; it was on Feb 27 that the PM announced that Australia was activating the Health Sector Emergency Response Plan. The exclusions listed in the policy include "Any claim relating to an incident which you were aware of at the time you took out this insurance and which could reasonably be expected to lead to a claim" and "Any claim arising from ... any prohibition ... regulation or intervention (including but not limited to interference with your travel plans) of any governm...Read more
ent", no other exclusions relate to a pandemic, and the "What you are covered for" section includes "you cannot travel because of government restrictions after an epidemic". Yet Tick have advised me that their website already stated on Feb 25 "you will not be covered for claims related to the Coronavirus". While this may be true there was no advice to that effect provided when I applied for the insurance online. My advice is If its easy to buy insurance online, stop and check the small print.1 comment

Tick cruise cover excellent
Having compared policies online, I found Tick cruise cover was very competitive on premiums and easy to apply for online, including for my existing medical condition at no extra premium.

Excellent price for items covered
Policy cost is excellent for the items covered. I am yet to travel with this policy so no claim has been lodged. I have taken out Tick for several overseas trips in the past and have never made a claim but I'm sure it would be quite easy to claim.

Change insurance
After purchasing the standard domestic insurance I decided we should have purchased the top one. Your staff were very helpful and informed me to go ahead and purchase the new insurance and cancel the previous one and they would arrange a refund. I was most surprised to receive the refund within 24 hours. Really efficient service, thank you.

Re: Policy Number MS/TK/305143/24935700
Paid for this policy on 4 March 2021: am I ever going to get a refund on this cancelled policy?
1 answer
Anna J.Tick Travel Insurance
Hi Philip, I'm afraid that we are not offering refunds on policies outside of the 14 day cooling off period. In terms of next steps, I would advise you to send your policy number to [email protected]. This is our official channel for complaints, and your complaint will be formally lodged, and your refund request will be investigated. I'm genuinely very sorry about the inconvenience and frustration this must be causing. Thanks, Anna

If you go on a cruise and need to see the onboard doctor... are you covered?
2 answers
Yes. My Tick Insurance Standard policy provides Unlimited Medical expenses cover in addition to Emergency expenses cover of $10,000.
Anna J.Tick Travel Insurance
Hi Bronz, thanks for reaching out, and thanks for the response Arthur.
If you need to see the doctor due to injury or illness, yes you will be covered, as long as you have declared your pre-existing conditions. Declaring your medical conditions is easy and fast, and can be done when your purchase your policy online, during the stage before paying for your policy.
If you don't declare your pre-existing medical conditions, you will still be covered for medical claims, but not if they are related to a pre-existing condition that you didn't declare.
Thanks, Anna
