Strong car
Purchased end 2005 toyota camry from dealer as we were looking to buy one of these from before but we were looking at 2007 to 2010 camry but did not like the quality of the model then we came across a blue camry that stood out and in immaculate condition and one owner but had no logbooks and one key but for 5000 with service by the owner who is also a mechanic you can't go wrong ac is very cold car drives perfect had for 2 months the model we got is an altise limited with extras 4 cylinder not v6 don't purchased the v6 over 13000km as it requires a lot of work and it will use 18litres to the 100 my dad had the v6 version 2005 in a white color but had less then 100,000km
Purchased in November 2021 for $5,000.00.

Good for seat but not really good for drive
I usually use my Camry V6 for travelling on highway, which is from Brisbane to Gold Coast, I've driven this car for almost 7 months and I reckon that every time I got 3 passengers with me they are satisfied with their leg room and such, it's comfort for seating but driving this car is a bit tired. The steering is so heavy that I found it tired to drive when parking, and the steering is shaking when driving on the highway. But the good point of this car is it got enough power to drive on highway, and it doesn't need much maintenance.

Has a few small issues, but still a great family car
+ The Altise looked nice in the mettalic silver, and for the first few years, it was an awesome car.
- After a few years small issues arose. Power window circuit board went $400 replace. The roof lining gave way on all four corners. The central locking plays up in weather conditions.
I would buy a toyota again, but will read reviews first. As the issues i have had seem to be a somewhat common one with my model of Altise.

Love this car
It's like this - the Camry is the perfect family car (note - small family). It's really reliable, cheap to run and maintain, it's comfortable and still a pretty good looking car even after 15 years. I would happily recommend the Camry and would buy another one in a heartbeat, if the 3 kids weren't getting so big.

Driving definately fine.
I have 2004 camry sportivo v6. It is over 10 years old but driving incredibly fine. When it comes to hightway driving, the genuine value for this car will be revealed. Especially, transmission and engine works perfect for 10 years old car. Never dissapoint me at all. If you are thinkg of used car, this is what you need.

Great Family Car
Driving my Toyota Camry is an absolute pleasure every time I take it out. Great to cover the long road trips with it's sizeable yet comfortable interior. And with it's great fuel economy, it is a great family car to drive around town with or take on long get aways.

Driving experience is very comfortable and quiet. It is a very reliable car and has never let me down. The running cost are lower than my smaller car. I find the interior luxurious and soft and is easy to keep clean and the exterior colour is colour co-ordinated with the interior.we have been very happy with its performance.

Great car
Car is great. Has a lot of power. A lot of space. At first was hesitant to buy the car but now I don't ever look back. The car is so cheap to run. Easy to repair. Cheap parts and best thing is that the seats are so comfortable. Recommend to everyone

Amazing car....love it!
Excellent car, it has now down 330,000 kms and still doing amazing. I recommend synthetic oil and using high octane fuel. Although my servicing history is a bit substandard.
This car is amazing to drive, corners well, good acceleration and extremely comfortable even at its high kms. Love my car but will be updating to the Aurion Sportivo next year.
Highly recommend as a reliable comfortable and sporty car.

Loved it
Loved my Camry Azura
Bought it 2nd hand in 2007 with 100,000 km already on it. Has run fantastically till now. I am up to 320,000 km and starting to have those little issues. The motor runs fine and probably will keep going forever.
Issues starting to happen are electrical door locks not locking, air con not working (not just gas),
alternator issues, electric seats wont move, and other minor issues.

Consumes a lot of petrol
The driving experience is average, it has decent enough horse power to drive up steep hills, but make sure to replace the tyres once in a while as it can slip on rainy days, since it is a car on the heavier side.
We noticed this consumes a very large amount of fuel, we drive this daily to work with very short trips (<1.5km each way), and occasional trips to dine..etc
And found that it needs to be refueled roughly about once every 10 days, for ~$75.

Reliable and Economical
The Toyota Camry is an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. It drives more smoothly than the older Camry models we had tried in the past, and it is economical to run. Parts range in price, with some simple plastic parts being a little expensive, but generally it is a very economical car to run and maintain. It's particularly economical for long-distance travel. The dashboard is easy to see, and my husband loves the cruise-control. What has impressed us is its incredible reliability - it just never misses a beat. It came to us with a gungy engine, bu...Read more
t after running it on Premium petrol for awhile, that cleaned it up, and it is a beautiful car to drive. Even though it is supposed to be E10-friendly, I wouldn't recommend using that fuel, as I notice a difference in the engine's quietness and general running whenever I use Caltex or BP Premium as opposed to 91. There is plenty of legroom, so it would make a good family car. The cushioning in the seats is also quite comfortable, although it probably depends on how well the seats have been looked after.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Toyota
Great car but the air con is crap.
Too much air is going to the air box which is only letting the air cond on every 10 sec which it not much.
It is costing me over $2,000 to fix this problem which has been from Toyota.
U suck heaps.

My dashboard MELTED.
I am beyond disappointed with Toyota. Our dashboard in our 2006 Camry melted - yes MELTED! In the US they have recalled all cars with melting dashboards and replaced them for free. In Australia, it's case-by-case and despite approaching Toyota when my car was 8 years old, they refuse to fix it. It will cost me $1500 to replace what is clearly a manufacturing issue - call me crazy but I thought we should expect that our car won't MELT?
I'm not only bitterly disappointed by Toyota's decision not to help fix this issue, but also by their attitud...Read more

Great car, exactly what you would expect
I recently sold my immaculate 2008 Ford Focus hatch. It was pretty and red and only had 120,000km on it. It was also a lemon and I hated it. Brakes were replaced and still played up, trans was failing, you name it. And plenty of rattles and squeaks.
I bought a 2003 Camry Altise. 150,000 kms and 5 years older than the Focus but 1,000 times a better car. I paid not much for it as it was a bit grubby, and the white paint was a little chalky (but the servicing was done and mechanically it was perfect). $200 for a cut and polish, and an in...Read more
terior shampoo and it is a new car. Not even any shopping trolley marks on it. I couldn't be happier with it. I drive an hour each way to work and it's quiet and smooth, no rattles or squeaks and everything works perfectly. Great for a 13yo car for sure. I've owned 2 other Toyotas and they were terrific. Had a Toyota Yaris from new that I traded in at 200,000km and never spent a cent on.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent car. Best we've ever owned
Value buying at $7777 2nd hand
Very reliable. Came with 60k or 12 mnth wnty
Dealership wnty repaired the alternator
Batteries don't last more than 3 yrs in them
Never been towed unlike previous Ford, Holden,Mitsubishi, Volvo, Mazda,VW
Wife also has one same year but previous shape
It has also been a very reliable car which she doesn't want to part with.
Fits 3 in the back and luggage in the boot. Seats fold for bigger boot space. Being 4cyl they're around $50 per month cheaper to run around town than the v6 but wont tow as well.
Tried fitting a HHO system to reduce fuel consmp but the adaptive learning electronics kept overriding the intake and was removed after 18 months. Fuel is around 11.5 K/L

Over rated
Powerful spacious car
Reasonable actual consumption for V6 13 years old car, city driving 16liters/100km
Never let me down, no breakdowns apart from battery problems
But NOT unbreakable
had to replace 2 internal door handles
CD player, cassette player very bad quality, was told its a common issue, I also had the same CD player and problem with my rav4
Middle brake light heated up and melted the casing of the light, I could smell burning plastic but didn't know where it was coming from.
Replaced headgaskets at 120k km and needed replacing again at 170k km (leaking oil)
Timing belt seal was aslo leaking oil at 170k km

The best 2nd hand car you can get
I bought a 2.4g Camry auto 2004 few months ago as a car for young family. It has 160k km on its odo but the engine and transmission are like new. After few months of driving found quiet long list of repairs, but all parts are cheap (f.e. bushings, front ball joints, window rubbers, tires, front brake pads and it also needs to repaint). Why 5 stars then? Because its 12 years old car and needs just small repairs. The best budget car i could get.

A Dream Car
A dream Car .. well in terms of reliability that is. We all know that Camrys are not the most exiting cars to drive but if you are after a reliable & comfortable car that will serve you unfailingly day after day after day, then look no further. My Camry is a run out 2006 Limited Edition Altise V6 that had done 40,000km when I bought it in 2009 and thus far I have spent "Zero dollars" (I kid you not) on repairs after 7 years and 140,000km. Recently when I took it for a routine service my mechanic said it is good for another 150,000km or more.

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry with a 2.4 4 cylinder motor that's blown!! Can I swap it out with a 98 2.2 motor?
1 answer
No, it is a completely different model of engine. The '98 2.2L is a cast iron block with alloy head, the '02 2.4L is an all-alloy motor, this engine was a completely new redesign in '02. The '98 2.2L is a 5S-FE model engine, the '02 2.4L is a 2AZ-FE engine.

l have a 2004 Toyota camry. I've owned since then, it's done 240,000 kms or around 20,000 kms a year. l live in the country and get it serviced regularly, it runs brilliantly, never had any mechanical problems, only problem was a rusty exhaust had to be replaced because of rust. l was wondering how many more years or KM's do you think it will continue to run well before there starts to be serious or expensive problems when l would be better off getting a new car?
2 answers
Oil is to cars what blood is to humans. Fully serviced is the key to long life I ran a corona to 290k and saw that the guy that bought it was still running it 3 years later. Traditionally newer toyota vehicles are not oil burners so if the exhaust starts showing blacksmoke and or/soot in the tail pipe, it's time to bail out. Use a quality product to clean (a) the fuel injectors (b) the top end valves and rockers. If the book allows you to use premium fuel, it has additives will clean the rockers and valves, etc. Well worth a tank full. Run the fuel tank level down to about 1/4 full and then fill up with premium. Only other thing that's probably due for a makor check is the steering assembly. Bumps and lumps in the country may have created a need for the assembly there to be replaced. Often there is a clicking sound when turning left or right, that indicates the problem. At 290k you will not get much for it but it will not owe you much either.
Thanks! Do you think l should be able to get a few more years out of it. You mentioned the steering assembly? Should l ask them to give it a check the next time l get it serviced or it that something they check anyway and they would notice anything wrong? l get serviced at a Toyota garage.

Update: my beloved Sportivo is still going strong at 345,000kms. Tomorrow I’m trading it in for the same but a 2007 model with 110,000kms on the clock.
When you’re on a good thing...stick to it!!
