Perfect for city driving
It’s a small family car. Takes you from point A to B. Not a super quick car -around 100kw of power.maintenance cost is very low, parts are cheap and easily available. In 2004 ascent model, doesn’t have power window, it’s conventional automatic transmission ( hence, good amount of torque, however, fuel economy is ok)not a cvt as in current models. Mileage around 10km/litre. & boot size is bit small .. hard to carry one baby pram..so check the size if you are planning to buy one. Steering is bit stiff despite being power steering. ..& brakes aren’t that great either..
Purchased in February 2016 for $7,000.

Reliable Corolla
The Corolla hatchback is a reliable vehicle for all purposes..
Carry something large or as a taxi for the school runs or shopping etc.. The ease of parking and driving is very good for all drivers.
I would buy Corolla again.

Don't Buy this Car
I bought the 2001 Toyota Carolla a few months ago and never had any issues with it until now.
Good: The car it self is a nice drive and extremely conformable on all surfaces, I drive the car daily and get close to 4 weeks of fuel with using 95. The car has a lot of room for the passengers and the boot space is great also. The car is very light to drive and can vertually drive it with a finger due to the quick response of the steering wheel.
Bad: I have had the car serviced twice now due to a weird noise that was starting to concern me. The...
Read more car has just hit 180,000kms. When accelerating there is no noise and everything works perfect, however when stopped at a set of lights the cars idel sits very close to 0 RPM's and it sounds as if the car is going to stall even though it is an Auto. When this issue occurs the entire car vibrates and I sometimes find my self accelerating a bit when at 0KM or even putting the car in Neutral as this increases the engine revs. The seats in this carolla are a beige colour and different material to other carollas also, i suggest if you are to buy a corolla in this specific year model pick the black interior. I find my self having to put a towel over the seat as the seat gets extremely hot and uncomfortable even when the Aircon is on as-well. The cars transmission is also very delayed, i find that the car always jolts when changing gears. Overall, it is a good car but I am purchasing a new car due to not enjoying my time with this car, some people might think otherwise about the car, but i suggest test driving the carolla and look out for these specific issue before purchasing.

Toyota Corolla 2011 Hatch Auto Accent
My Toyota experience has been a bad one. Bought late 2011 came with scratch marks on the outer, a cut tyre that had to be replaced elsewhere at my cost a faded door with paint stains on the side door inside and on back seats.
The car when bought was making loud noises inside and that went on for 3 years even though I had them check it and their reports nothing wrong with it.
Past warranty at 3 years and then they say the barrings had gone and the reason why the car was making a loud noise.
Now my car gets stuck in auto second when going from a stop to start position and it will stay that way for a good 500m. Now that has to get fixed.
I would never buy another toyota again.

Mighty corrolla
2008 corrolla hatch auto. Owned since new purchased at Toyota Hornsby for 22990. The big reputation of corrolla or any other Toyota products I can report all true 12years on stiil performs as its supposed to gearbox (old 4sp)shifts up and down kickdown at the proper rev range motor 1.8 no power house call it adequate for day to day comuting. 130km on clock still going strong fuel usage about 8lt per 100kms a mix of suburban and hwy regular servicing and gearbox service every 2 years . Air con radio, heater, power wind central locking all worki...
Read moreng order air con never been touched. Issues or problems through out its 12y blinker light stalk had to be replaced and left hand rear wheel bearing replaced but it didn't break the bank about $200 each that's parts and labour also interior has held up very well but it's a garaged example sure it's boring to drive doesn't excite but doesn't give you headaches or send you broke- 2 reviews

Pretty average
I wanted a small car to run around in and I'd always heard how reliable Toyota corollas were so I thought I'd buy one and see for myself. I havnt had any problems with the engine or transmission but it's just the small things really that are a bit disappointing, the dash above the glovebox has started making a clicking noise and I have no idea why, took everything out of the glovebox and it's still doing it, plus various other squeaks and rattles from inside the cabin. The rear left tail light gets condensation inside of it and I can't figure o...
Read moreut why, doesn't happen on the right side one. The stereo unit speakers have just started making a crackling noise which is very annoying because I would have the radio on so I didn't have to listen to the squeaks and rattles and clicking noise coming from above the glovebox but now I'm stuck with a crackling noise instead, very annoying. The seats aren't all that comfortable, I'm forever adjusting my seat trying to feel comfortable. Can't put the back seats down unless you move the front seats forward but then I won't have enough leg room. I suppose this car is fine around town but it doesn't handle pot holes very well and road noise on a rougher surfice isn't great. I suppose you can't expect too much these days, not sure if Hondas or mazdas would be any better or not. This car is also quite difficult to do oil changes on, it uses one of those silly cartridge oil filters which is quite far back under the car and can be very difficult to get off, no where as easy as doing an oil change on the old vs commodore I had, Oh and the reverse sensor doesn't seem to know what it's doing most of the time.Purchased in May 2022 for $10,000.

Perfect car
Prons :
Room inside.
For a cheap car, it has so many standard features.
6 Air-bags.
Best glove box in the industry.
Better trunk light than a Lexus.
Absolutely noise and rattle free.
Cons :
The dashboard glare in the summer is annoying, dash should have been black, instead of grey.
The clock is indeed in a kind of silly spot, but so what, at least it has a clock.
Purchased in July 2017 for $8,400.

Highly Recommend
After owning several other used cars over the years and having nothing but headaches (Ford Territory, XR6 Falcon, Holden Astra, Mitsubishi Magna) I bought my Corolla needing an economical, comfortable, reliable used car.
It definitely ticks all boxes and more.
it had 165,000 ks on the clock and a partial service history, since owning it I have done 20'000 odd ks this is an excellent vehicle for round town and highway driving, the reliability is virtually bulletproof (being a Toyota) servicing is cheap if you source items yourself either online...
Purchased in February 2018 for $6,799.

Classic toyota reliability
Good spacious hatch with predictable handling and driver aids. 7 airbags and logbook services keep toyota running as it should. Aircon and other creature comforts makes driving a breeze. It could do with a reverse camera as all hatches and wagons should have as minimum equipment. 6 speed manual makes plenty of power through the gears for both city and highway traffic.

very reliable car
I bought my wife a Toyota corolla with about 50000 on the clock. 5 years later, it has 92000kms showing. It has been the most reliable car we've ever owned. It doesn't have all the yuppie extras (omg they would say over morning coffee) and there are absolutely no bragging rights so it is not for your average "we own this and that" yuppie but certainly great for the rest of us who aren't hung up on showing off and competing with others because our lives are so shallow. Pity they don't have a life or a Corolla.

Best for small car user
I have been using this car from day 1 and so far it has not given me any trouble.
Other than the exterior body of the car which is not scratch free and need to built it more durable.
Battery life in the car is the best aspect I like and I will always be loyal to Toyota in my life.
Fuel consumption is good and interior is the best then other car.
Only recently I have to take two time my car one for faulty fuel gauge and secondly for airbags. I did not aspect this to be faulty TOYOTA. Buckle up and do not sign for faulty ones.

Awesome car
I have 09 Corolla since it's new and it's 135,000 kms now. Haven't had any single problems for nearly 10 years and still drives like new car. I got all the service on time and even extra services including auto transmission oil change at 100,000km for a better fuel economy and smooth driving. It works!! It's seriously way better than BMW 3 series or VW Jetta. European cars are usually sucks after 3 years of warranty especially BMWs. BMW knows that first most BMW owners don't drive BMW longer than 3 years, so they don't make the car running longer than 3 years. Lots of issues arise usually after warranty periods!!! Hope Toyota won't copy German car brand's marketing strategy in the future to make more profit from customers.
Questions & Answers
Hey there, I am looking to buy Toyota's Corolla hatchback 2007 can anyone tell maintenance cost, performance, reliability and everything you know about the car?
I recently bot Corella ascent 2010 2zre15r my10 4sp auto.
How much tank fuel capacity?
It runs around 550km full tank... Is it bad?
While on desk figure shows 7.1/100km
I guess it doesn't show perfect fuel consumption.
According to factory specifics it holds 55L of fuel. My partner has this same model ZRE152R, it averages out 10L/100km which consumes alot more petrol than the newer corollas. Even after major service...
Read more, fuel filter replacement, aftermarket fuel saver additives it still consumes alot more petrol.Fan blows warm air even with temp setting on cold (Ac off and outside intake on).. not sure if this is normal or not? My previous car's fan blew quite cool air from outside. Even driving in the hills with 15 degrees air outside it gets stifling inside with only the fan on, meaning I have to either open the windows or turn on the AC. Possible something is blocked, or is this just because of where it's pulling in the air from the engine bay..?
Hi Karl, this isn't the case with me.Naturally on a warm day it will only blow warm air but when cooler it's cold air and very comfortable.
It doesn't right to me that your still getting warm air on a cool day, I'd get this checked out.
This not normal.Should be engine heat coming thorough.
I've noticed this same thing; haven't identified the cause, nor been too concerned about it aside from a few months we went without A/C due to a failed compressor - unrelated. Haven't verified it, but...
Read more seems to me as though the heat is probably coming froa/m the heater core; as though the heat/cool valve doesn't entirely close off the flow of hot water from the engine to the heater core. Doesn't bother me beyond curiosity, as the A/C still blows nice and cold.Get an answer from our members and Toyota representatives
