Perfect car for both short and long trips!!!
We purchased this car as a second car for everyday short trips mainly for the wife as I lease a Mitsubishi Outlander from work. But we ended up taking it for a 1,500km road trip and was very happy with the performance. It may look small from outside but quite spacious inside and great on fuel. Although the price is little high compared to the similar sized cars of similar quality, we are very happy with it. Great on Fuel too.

very reliable and economical but with some irritating issues.
Great little car that is comfortable, easy to drive, stylish, economical and very reliable. However, the USB port is in a very awkward position, under the sound system in a little nook and should be on the radio fascia,The heating system is still using the turn knob technology and you almost have to pull off the road to set it, it should be push button. it does not have rapid demist option that has been around in most other cars for years. The reversing camera is very slow to engage, i have usually finished the reversing maneuver before it comes on.I would have thought Toyota would have had these items sorted by now. Other than that, a great little car.

Great compact car
I bought this car for commuting to work and it's a very economy easy driving car. It has a good quality reverse camera with lines showing the edge of car. Parking is pretty easy with this camera.
Customer service on this car was great. Every step of my purchase and finance was easy and smooth and staff are really polite, caring and organised.
Totally happy with Toyota and this car.

Great car with lots of Grunt
The 2016 Corolla Sports is a great car with alloy wheel and great seats, the 6 speed automatic is also very frugal on petrol and the drive, handling and acceleration is exceptional. The car is for both young and old with its styling and standard features. The air conditioning is very effective in all types of weather and does not give up on long trips. Fixed price service is also a great feature.

Great 2nd car
This car has been a surprisingly great wee runner, and is the preferred car to drive in the family. It's, as you would expect it's great around town, but is good for long distance interstate travel, which is handy when you get to another state capital city you are not familiar with. It was chosen over similar cars for being less vanilla, offering a funky yellow/ green colour and having a exciting sporty interior for its price.

Love it! Love it! Love it!
Smoothest automatic I have ever driven, quiet, seamless gear change. The Sports option button means that when I get out of the stop/go of town traffic, I can just GO, GO, GO! The sports mode definitely improves cornering 'at speed' . The seating is comfortable and spacious. The boot huge, easy to access. The digital touch screen in the centre of the dash, fades out with the parking lights on, which is normal, however it does make it difficult to read if you want to make an adjustment. The print on the screen is large, which makes it readabl...Read more
e even without my glasses. Love the Bluetooth phone and all the controls on the steering wheel. Voice recognition works very well, just don't rush it. Cruise control is perfect for those long trips, very easy to operate. Cup holders galore and excellent water bottle holders in the door. Charging our phones is so easy with the covered USB ports and cigarette holder. The individual overhead lights are really useful and the grips above the doors - so me! The car starts instantly and seems to be very efficient when run on eco mode. Sports mode uses fuel more quickly, as is to be expected. I feel more secure, having a proper spare wheel back again. Overall a brilliant, well priced, easy to park car and I just love driving it!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

great vehicle to drive and has plenty of hatch space
Vehicle performance is great in both city and country conditions, handles well with plenty of overtaking power on the open road, interior is very functional and looks good, only complaint is rear vision mirror blocks some front view for taller people, very economical for running costs only needing 1.5 tanks to Mildura return from Adelaide.

Corolla Sport 2016
Traded my 2012 ford focus for a corolla sport. Reason why I didn't stay with the focus was mainly build quality. Dash and door rattles after 40,000kms and the 2nd focus with alternator faults. The sport won't set your world on fire but I like the reliability/ build quality. I actually like the 'old school' 1.8l motor. Its quiet and after 2000kms has used 6.1l per 100kms. Will be interesting to watch as the focus was 7.2l over 67,000kms. My 2007 LS focus was 8.1per 100kms. All these measures are on the same 90km round loop to work 5 days a week....Read more
The auto is one of the best I have driven (and I drive alot of different cars for work and play). The sport is quiet and a great drive around town but does get a bit noisey from rough road surfaces at 100kms. No more than the focus, but more than I like. A smooth freeway is very quiet. All in all, a good start to ownership3 comments
Just had the 20,000km service. Fuel usage for had sat at 6.4l per 100kms for those 20,000kms. Its now after an extra 2,000km dropped back to 6.3l. Not having voice recognition annoys me but apart from that happy days.
30,000km - 6.1l per 100km. Same 90km round trip to work. Winter so not using a/c as much. Give me apply play and I'd be a very happy owner.

Reliable, Safe, Stylish, Quality Product with Excellent Resale Value
Have the 2015 update shape hatch model. Bought this car as my family and some friends swear by Toyota/Lexus as well as driving alot of them as hire cars and loved them so much that didn't want to return them. My Granny's 1999 Corolla and my Mums 2003 Echo have never had a thing ever go wrong with them so shows you just how reliable Toyota is. Did look at and test drive its main rivals that were on the market at the time and found this to be the safest and best purchase option as far as Reliability, Quality, Style, Safety and Resale value were c...Read more
oncerned. Really like the CVT gearbox once got used to it and the engine has more than enough power in this format. Find driving it to be a very pleasing tactile experience and it is low slung to the road compared to some of the older models though you get used to it. It hugs to the road at highway/motorway/freeway speeds and is extremely comfortable with plenty of power for overtaking, if you ever need to get a really good boost of power just simply change the CVT mode over to sport. Seats are extremely comfortable and the rear occupants have more than enough leg room in the rear even for tall adults. Camera is great for getting into very tight fitting car spaces especially in large inner city's. The Audio entertainment system is excellent with great sound quality. Has a full sized spare wheel in the lower grade variants which is a huge plus especially if you are in the country. Dealer fixed price Servicing costs are excellent in the overall annual cost although you have to have it serviced every six months. Have had some annoying rattles in the front door trims and the dealer has been sorting these out. Am extremely happy with the car overall and would definitely recommend you purchasing one as you simply cant go wrong with this exceptionally reliable brand and model as their is no doubt whatsoever why its the worlds most popular and best selling car. You will be making a extremely wise choice you will not regret.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

great little car
i love my Toyota corolla, my last one was built in 1976 and it did me vey well. If the new one lasts as long as the last one I will be extremely happy. Drives very well, comfortable, minimal road noise. Cheap to run as only a 4 cylinder car.

A good drive but ruined by poor execution in other areas
The Corolla is a powerful vehicle for its class and the CVT transmission is smooth and seamless. The let down here are the other areas of the car that impacts your driving experience like a rattling dash area that will irritate for hours on end. I have tried getting in serviced 4 times in the 6 months I had the car. Very disappointing. This is not my first Toyota, but it may be my last.

Great everyday car with some annoying niggles
Bought a new Corolla to replace my 4 year old 100,000k Sport hatch, last of the old shape Corolla's.. The old car was totally reliable, cheap to service with no repairs, and quite fun to drive. The paintwork, ( I chose white because it’s easier to match the paint when the inevitable car park damage appears), still looks like new, I polish it twice a year, this seems to provide sufficient protection from the high UV here in Queensland. The new car which has some major changes from the old shape and quite a few subtle up dates from the previous y...Read more
ear’s model. The most recent changes are the interior, certainly moved up market a couple of rungs, away with the shiny plastics, in with with a new dashboard, and smart touch screen multimedia center, shame they had to cut costs and delete the folding mirrors function. However, the 2016 model has new seats, very comfortable, you feel like you are sitting in the car, sat lower down, rather than on the car, much higher driving position in the 2012 model. Gear change is more precise, still doesn't like to be hurried though, and the clutch appears lighter, the 'bite point' took me a while to 'feel' as it seems there is some free play in the accelerator, initially making smooth starts a bit of an art. Three areas of improvement over the 2012 model are handling, economy and to a lesser extent road noise, I'll cover that later. The Corolla was never meant to handle like a Golf, but this new model is quite a pleasant surprise, you can brake coming into a roundabout, apply the power though the bends and the car appears to squat into the road, the near perfect driving position, new seats and electric weighted power steering, all combine with the revised suspension settings, including news bushes, to provide a very good ride, compliant, but focused. Would be nice to have a few more horse power to exploit it. Which leads me onto economy, whilst this little 1800ccDOHC engine won’t set the world on fire, its power output is beautifully matched to the 6 speed manual gearbox, performance through the gears is brisk with engine harshness considerably quieter though improved sound deadening than the previous 2012 model. Overall in the 7000km covered since delivery on 1st July, I have averaged 6.5 litres per 100Km's with a best of 5.4. My old 2012 model, similar journeys mix of urban, rural and freeway, after 100,000 km’s has averaged 7.0km's per 100 with a best of 6.5. Dealer complacency has reared its head, when I collected the car and used the wipers for the first time; it was obvious the front screen was contaminated with some substance not removed in the pre-sale preparation. It took over a week to get it resolved. Why it is that dealer’s still treat customers like they are morons and question them as if they are idiots? It doesn’t get better, intrusive wind noise was reported 2 weeks after delivery at the 1000 km inspection. Upon collection the receptionist informed me that they could not replicate the fault, questioning further, the rational was their test route did not include any highway with a speed limit over 60kph. The fault, intrusive wind noise from 65kph from around the B post on both sides of the car, right in my right ear, had been explained when the vehicle was dropped off. The service manager intervened and took the car away for 30 mins returning to explain he had found a crushed door seal which was the ‘likely’ cause. Draw your own conclusions. It was agreed to road test the vehicle, which finally occurred two weeks later. I road tested the vehicle with the service manager sat in the back of the car, and he accepted the presence intrusive wind noise from around 50kph upwards from both B posts. The inference was as it was on both sides it must be 'normal', which I do not accept, conclusion was he would check similar cars with a colleague and come back to me. Two weeks later I had not heard anything so I wrote to him and emailed the letter. It took a further two days before he contacted me. I was informed that he ‘thinks’ it’s a production issue, as he had examined 4 other vehicles with the same results. He told me he was initiating a product defect report to Toyota Australia, and I should not anticipate a speedy solution to the problem. It is almost a month since our telephone conversation…..The intrusive wind noise has now been accompanied by an annoying rattle from the perspex cover over the main instrument binnacle. I do not plan to let the dealer off the hook, with four Toyota's currently in the family, (non of the others have wind noise issues or rattles) serviced by the same Toyota dealer, I would expect a little more integrity, watch this space!! For the money the Corolla Sport is hard to beat, the Mazda 3 in a similar specification is significantly more expensive, as is the Hyundai. Entry level Golf is a similar price, but medium term reliability is an issue with VW, not just VW’s disingenuous response to valid faults, but the fabric and trim rapidly deteriorates with the high UV exposure. The Corolla’s power unit has reached middle age, but its reliable, good economy and capable of very high mileages, as are all Toyota engines. In conclusion, the 2016 Corolla Sport is an excellent buy, the subtle changes to the front and rear ends, LED tail lights, new dash and seats have visually tidied the car up significantly. A better quality materials used in the cabin has lifted the ambience way above expectations, the appearance, quality and fit of the interior is far superior to the current model Camry that I considered before choosing the Corolla. The unseen changes to suspension bushes and shock absorbers have transformed the ride and handling. Driving position is very good and the cabin very comfortable with above average rear leg room. I am 5'11 and can sit comfortably in the back, even on longer 3hr + journeys. What would I like to change? well the three quarter rear vision is not good, the rake of the windscreen, relative to the driving position means the interior mirror creates a blind spot, I did like the folding mirrors – now omitted, boot is still on the small side, although bigger than the Mazda 3, the Bridgestone tyres are much noisier than the Dunlop’s fitted on the older car, particular over the course chip asphalt roads around Noosa, a radio that can tune into ABC Radio National without constant interference, sat nav, the cost of which is cents to put in a car in production, huge added value and finally the local dealer needs to lift their game. I had a similar experience in Perth with a Toyota dealer, I had a Land Cruiser100 Sahara TD with an issue with the in car DVD player, because the products are so reliable, when you get a non life threatening issue they like to ignore it and hope the good things about the car will help the problem go away. They don't want to spend time (at a significantly reduced charge out time) investigating a problem if they are not sure if they can fix it, reduces their labor recovery rate and workshop profitability. Toyota had better watch out, Hyundai have a stunning new i130 replacement on its way, and a face lifted Golf next year. Guess we’ll have to wait for the all-new 2018 model to address the body shape, rumored to have used the Golf as a benchmark – styling only, I hope.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Never again
I brought a 2013 Corolla Ascent Sports Hatch with CVT.
Pros:
Good paintwork
Comfortable seats
Cons:
CVT transmission
Small cargo space
Small door openings
The small boot drives me nuts, I run out of space so go to put something into the back seat and it won't go in because of the angle that the doors open on is not wide enough, Very frustrating. ...Read more
My CVT has been horrendous, sounds like a cow in pain going down a hill in an 80 zone. The last straw for me was when I pulled out from a service road into an 80 zone and the CVT got stuck at 60, revved it's head off but would not go any faster. It's dangerous and Toyota just keep saying nothing is wrong with it, that's normal for a CVT. I don't think it's normal and won't be buying another Toyota (this was my second)Similar opinion? Impressive lemon
Purchased brand new at Downtown Toyota Brisbane. Drove it out of the dealership and within a few minutes realized all was not well. Took it back the next morning and told them there seemed to be a problem with transmission. Was told it was in "learning mode" Seemed plausible. Back again within a week. problem had worsened. Was told it was the traction control. Solution : told to turn it off. You can't just turn it off completely. Again, fail. Problem continued to get worse so left it with them for a day. Was told nothing wrong. Spoke to Toyota....Read more
They made soothing noises but did nothing. By now, problem was so bad. You would start the car and it would jerk, lose power, stay jammed in gear & not change or kangaroo hop so bad engine would stall. In the end spat the dummy. It nearly killed me one morning, just as I started to merge into a stream of traffic it died. Only just managed to avoid a collision. Took it back to them. They kept if for 2 weeks then said they would replace transmission. I argued that if I had of known it was a lemon I would not have bought it but they did not replace. All they did was fix it. Since then it has had intermittent faults and is still not perfect. It remains gutless & unreliable. Has needed further work on the "new" transmission. On top of that, it stops all by itself at any time! They can't find anything wrong with that either! Further the dealership "forgot" to issue the Factory genuine extended warranty that I paid nearly $1000 for. Once error was found it took the threat of legal action for them to rectify. Compared to my previous Corolla this one is total & utter rubbish. Unreliable & a total lemon. Shame Mr Toyota, shame. I cannot recommend this model nor the dealership. They are happy to take your money but are very reluctant to rectify a major fault or replace the car. So much for our consumer protection laws in this country. A complete joke. Go & look at some other vehicle at some other dealer and avoid the Toyota Corolla completely. You have been warned! Update 12/9/2018 After nearly 5 years of investigation and intermittant faults and moving to a different dealer and arguing with Toyota Australia, 97% of the remaining problems were found to relate to the "new" transmission. The results of numerous diagnostics tests run over an extended period of time pinpointed the problem to settings within the transmission computer control unit. Toyota authorised my dealer to make changes which totally changed its performance and reliability so the bulk of the problems have now been resoled, however there remains 1 glitch which is proving very hard to find, mainly because it's so random, so the detective work continues.Similar opinion? Brandnew Toyota Corolla lemon
We bought a brad new Toyota Corolla hatchback from Ross Llewellyn Motors at Brisbane Road, Booval QLD and they sold a us a lemon not a brand new car. nd made it impossible to drive during winter. A few months later, car had issues with faulty steering column and one of the Toyota dealer replaced the steering column under warranty and they will invoice Toyota head office for about $5,000.00. Ross Llewellyn Motors even refused to acknowledge faulty steering column. An ex employee of Ross Llewellyn Motors told me the dealership participates in test car from Toyota - which means when a car is made it is sent to a dealer for testing when a particular model is made. The car they sold me is one of those lemons. I have previously owned second hand Toyota for more than 15 years and these old model cars did not have any major issues.Similar opinion? Love my car But! Have had my Toyota Corolla hatchback sport for 1 year and love zooming about in it.
This has only been so since I had fitted the beeper senses at the rear as reversing was a real problem especially in the cooler months as the camera fogs up and is hopeless if the sun is shining on the back.
The beepers have helped heaps and I feel safer backing but they are a 100% must have on this car. They should have been fitted as standard .

Update on fuel usage - 5,000km mark and it has averaged 6.4l per 100kms. This is from the dash display, not counting up every fuel docket and measuring it against kms travelled.
