Will last for ever
Mine is ex-mining. I service it every 6 months. It just keeps on going and going. Not flash, not comfy, but it just works. Only issue is fuel consumption. I wish they had a more economical version
Purchased in February 2021 for $30,000.00.

Replacement for our written off Prado
Great car for towing our caravan and is very economical to run as it runs on both Petrol and LPG. All it needs now is a wheel alignment and an LPG check to make sure it's running well. Plenty of room to put our gear in when we go caravanning.

Best feature is the resale value
Replaced my 02 Defender with a 05 turbo trayback last year, had 50K on it when purchased. Must say the cruiser is quieter, air cond works, wipers work etc. In every other way the Land Rover was a better truck. It carried a load better, rode much smoother, handled better and was better offroad with fulltime 4wd. I have done 10K in the cruiser now so this is unbiased.
I had to sell the Defender as my wife is disabled and couldn't get into the defender anymore. The cruiser is ok overall but nothing special, it seems to be a status symbol for...Read more
some reason and relies upon its old image, some of the new utes coming out now are better I believe. The main reason I bought one is money, the resale is very good especially the last of the 6 cyl ones like mine. I will keep it for a few years yet, but can see through the name as I have owned a better trucks than this in the past. Its resale value, good ventilation, VG visability from cab, long range fuel tanks, towing performance. Heavy fuel use 14L/100km avg, rough ride both on and off road, expensive, changing fuel filters takes a long time.

Disability and Defenders. I am sinning by cross-posting and I hope that I do not anger anyone, but I really need advice from experienced users. I have always loved 'Cruisers but newer models disappo... Read more
inted in Africa as front diffs & gearboxes come from Hilux and the tough Dyna tranny isn't with us any longer. Many suffered diff / gearbox / xfer case failure just because Toyota fitted inferior breather tubes and water ingress during river crossings proved to be fatal to these components. Then D4D came in for flak because of turbo's and injectors that failed frequently, so I did not really include 70 Series when I started comparing vehicles last night. I saw worrisome Prado reviews and decided to stick to 70 for now, as a possible alternative to what I have written here: pardon me for cross-posting but I need answers from real owners of all the vehicles considered. I really need honest answers as this is a major decision and mistakes cannot be corrected afterwards.I wouldn't buy either the Defender or the 70 series cruiser for you purpose. They would be torture for you passengers for different reasons. The Defender wagon has more leg room than the ute but sti... Read more
ll has no elbow room and is noisy for long trips. The Cruiser is too rough on bad roads. Maybe look at a Disco or a Prado, I think you would be happier with those for your use. My disabled wife has extreme arthritis and our cruiser is much rougher off road. The cruiser is better on road but she still won't travel for more than a couple of hours in it. We have to take our car for longer trips. Buy the D4 it has a longer wheel base than the sport and would be my pic or a Prado if they can be fixed more readily where you live. CheersSimilar opinion? Find out how Toyota LandCruiser 70 HDJ/HZJ compares to other Large / 7 Seater SUVs
Know better, choose better.
Superb
Absolutely superb. Anyone who can fault this vehicle other than the fuel consumption doesn't know what they are talking about? You can drive for hours non-stop and get out as fresh as a daisy. It has every conceivable gadget just about and makes for uber luxurious 4x4 driving and is as smooth as a Rolls Royce.
Fuel heavy but you know the old adage: 'You get what you pay for'

I have a 2002 4.2 turbo land cruiser that comes up with infrequent engine light fault accelerator pedal switch. Had this replaced at quite a cost but problem still occurs. mainly when slowing at corner or when sitting at traffic lights. Easy to reset but not good when accelerate to get across traffic and it goes into crawl mode. Any advise would be really appreciated

hi there,
I have had this issue before, if you look at the owners manual you will see that this could be due to your input bearing shaft. I would contact whoever fixed this and ask them to advise why it has not been resolved.
Thanks for that, not sure why it comes up accelerator switch for if its the input bearing shaft but will ask the question

he Landrover and looks smaller. The power is unlimited and at the moment just getting all the extra's ready for our first big trip away. We have only had for three months but I do agree with your comments above in the green. We plan to get a camper or van in the future as wel, which is the reason for the purchase. Towing power.
