Love my rav4
I have loved my experience with my rav4. We use it for family transport, we've done a ltttle off roadinf, I cna fit sooooo much stuff in it you wouldn't believe the space inside! Lots of little storage spots and an awesome boot compartment underneath the floor of the already massive back section of the car. Love it.
Purchased in June 2021 for $8,000.00.

Toyota, could be better.
I go to an from work an shopping, but long trips, undered powered, I got three kids an it is a bit small for them, I got the two wheel drive because the All Wheel Drive use too much petrol which makes the engine work harder. I am use to a two wheel drive any way. Plus the all Wheel Drive cost more to service/own/ etc, I can,t see the point of an A.W.D car. Diesel is only good for medium to long trips, not made for short trips.

2009 Toyota Rav4 Good car, But boring...
Driving the Rav4 is SOOO boring, But is great with EVERYTHING else.
Plenty of room, easy to service, great on fuel. Whether its a sort trip or long it is quite capable.
Can't go wrong with a Rav4, just not as fun to drive as some other SUV's on the market.

Love this car! drives amazing but small back seat!
i brought this car when i found out i was pregnant, i have 2 kelpies and then having a baby i wanted a big boot space for them. but have figured they like the back seat also, its easy to install my car seat with isofix but i dont think alot of cars accomodate rear facing car seats which kind of sucks especially since they can now rear face for 4 years which i will be doing, the dilemma is not enough space for the passanger. anywho, the car itself runs great, toyotas are obviously known for how good of a car they really are, the boot space is ge...Read more
nerous and i like that i can fold all the seats down for more room. overall happy with my purchase but my only downside would be the small back seats, if i were to want to have 3 kids i would need a new car as 3 car seats wouldnt fit along the back,Similar opinion? Unreal Car has tackled everything I've thrown at it
Have had this car for 3 years, and it is unreal. Plenty of space for surfboards, camping and everything else. I've taken it onto the sand on the beach and handles sand really well due to its relative lightness. Services are pretty cheap. Only thing is fuel economy not quite as good as I'd hoped, but is still worth it.

I love this car and I would buy another!
We bought this car nearly three years ago. It was five years old with 80,000kms. It was the only V6 for sale at the time and was a fleet car for a local SA government.
We service it every 10,000kms and never had a fault. It’s so reliable and even at nearly 8 years old, the interior still feels quite new.
It has great grunt even when towing our 1.2t coffee trailer. It is ordinarily thirsty and with the trailer we get around 20L / 100km
There is a bit of cabin noise but I didn’t test drive another SUV that didn’t have it.
The boot space is generous and I love that the back town seats can be reined or moved forward.

LOVE
So much love for this car. My mum had one when I was a child, and got into a bad crash that we both walked away from unharmed. I have just recently purchased my own RAV and am loving it. Have had no problems and am looking forward to many large trips in this car.

We sold ours but I still adore our RAV4. So much room to expand your family. Safety is not an issue, reliable and never heard of anyone not enjoying this model. We've moved things such as single matrasses in our RAV4. Plenty of space for dogs too. Fuel economy is high. We loved our RAV4 to bits. Highly recommended

Really nice car
My wife should be writing this. In about 2004, my wife had just about worn out her old Toyota Corolla car and needed a replacement. Being very thrifty, she wanted another Corolla or the newly introduced cheaper sedan from Toyota (can't remember its name). I sneakily purchased a brand new Rav4 from CMI for her Birthday. She wasn't too impressed by me spending that much money, so I sent her out with my then 30 year old Son to learn to drive it. She got to love it, within a week or so.
Moving on to 2012, for her Christmas present, I had decided t...Read more

Perfect car for family
So pleased with the rav 4. I can get the three child restraints in the back with ease to keep the kids safe. The recommendations for child safety include extending the amount of time a child spends in a rear facing seat before moving forward and also extending the amount of time a child stays in a harnessed seat before moving to a booster. The rav allows me to have my three children in their seats with ease. The back is spacious for the stroller and shopping and anything else you would need. The air con is super it's better than the air con at ...Read more
our house we drive round in the car when it's hot as it's the coolest place to be. Very importantly for me there's room for my coffee Cup! And cigarette lighter to charge the phone as well as USb and blue tooth to connect the phone or I pod. The hands free phone is amazing and so convenient and I would be lost if I couldn't connect the I pod to play songs for the kids to keep them happy. It's comfortable and affordable to drive I was shocked at the fuel economy it's really great. There's plenty of space and little compartments to keep things close. And I love the spare on the back so there's more space in the car. Couple things that are more personal preference than anything else is the dash lights are on all the time. In my old car the dash display lit up when the headlights were on and I became used to using that to know the lights were on or not. Also helped remind me to put them on as when it was too dark to read the dash without lights I would turn the headlights on. So now I see the dash display illuminated and my brain concludes the headlights are on. I can't think why it's like this. I can't think of a time where it would be too dark to read the dash without illumination yet I wouldn't want the headlights on so I can't understand it. But it's just what used to. Oh the cruise control is great easy to use. To be honest I haven't used the 4wd but I find the car handles well in wet conditions it's a great car. It's surprisingly easy to park too great visibility. If you so wish you can fold the seats at the back down for space or pull a drink holder down in the back between the seats which would be good tho I haven't been able to really use it due to the baby seats. Oh one more thing is there isn't air con vents in the back for the kids but as I said the air con is awesome so it really does cool the whole car anyway and it's a minor annoyance compared to the great things. I find the indicators very soft I sometimes can't hear them. You can always look at the display but I've found compared to my previous cars it's very quiet and occasionally I leave the indicators on accidentally because of it. Another minor thing - and it's not a problem as the three child seats fit - but my previous car had three back seats of equal size. The rav has two big ones on either side and a squishy one on the middle so I think it's designed really for four passengers. But a baby seat or child can still use the middle seat and we use it all the time. Just its not quite designed for three I guess. The other thing and it's small but the middle seat with a baby seat is hard tosecure . If you want one baby seat in the middle (and it's statistically safer In the middle) because of the way the seats are divided up and the cup holder and the fact that the tether mount for the middle is on the roof mean the middle seat wobbles and doesn't feel as secure. I suppose the idea is to use the side seats for child restraints. They tether to the back lower part of the seat and the seat belt fits them snugly. And in out case we have three in a row so the middle won't wobble with two seats either side. But if I had one thing I could change it would be to make the three back seats teather at the floor mount and be equally designed so the middle seat would be more secure. But really I just love The car. We upgraded from a 2 door getz so this car is like a palace and surprisingly the fuel isn't much more than the getz so I speak positively about it. The few little things are just my preference but wanted to share them in case they matter to others.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it!
Purchased my second-hand 2011 Rav4 CV, 2WD just over one year ago and have loved it! This model of Rav4 is comfortable to drive, feels like lots of power and so much room. The back seats are on sliders which allow you to increase the space in the boot. I thought this was a rare feature after looking at other SUVs... we can fit 4-5 people and two large dogs in this medium SUV! Only negative is it is a bit heavy on the juice and with only a 45L tank, it feel like you are filling up fairly often.

Great car, super reliable
Bought my RAV4 new in 2012 and it's never let me down. Great performance, large capacity for loading, comfortable seating, lots of options and accessories, even voice control. If your considering buying a second hand RAV4 I'd recommend it! Servicing is average price and the extended warrantee was great. Have had no repairs to do at all. Have hade body damage in accident and paint matching was easy for the repairer. Mine is silver metallic but it was no problem
Update. Rav 4 is now 7 years old. Still no repairs required and super reliable interior is standing the test of time too.
Purchased in February 2021.

Extremely disappointed with the oil consumption problem
I purchased this car as I knew toyota cars are reliable. As a single parent I managed to secure a loan and purchased my rav4 from a toyota dealership. I immediately ran into oil consumption problems. One litre a week to be exact. The dealership have rebuilt my motor twice and i still have the same problem with no light at the end of the tunnel. So now I'm stuck in a loan with ridiculously high interest rates paying for a lemon of a car for 5 years. A huge amount to pay for an extremely costly and frustratingly disappointing experience. I have read that some diesel models have this problem too. If this problem did not exist I would be happy with the rav4.

Reliable Fantastic SUV
I had a 2003 rav4 and drove it for years, then i upgraded to a 2007 Rav4 and it was so reliable the only issue was its a greedy oil drinker but even so this has been the best SUV ever, i was very sad when i traded for a Ford Territory but i needed the 7 seats. Hope toyota bring out a good roomy rav4 some day.

Mostly a great family car
After 4 years of driving the car I have become more attached to it. For a fairly large car it handles well and has enough acceleration to overtake safely etc, provided the car isn't too loaded. Our family of 3 has no trouble fitting all out camping gear in the back and the fold down seats are handy for bigger loads at the hardware or nursery.
Two things bug me. The cruise control is hopeless in anything but flat roads as it is not sensitive enough to road speed, and lets the car slow down too much then overshoots the mark when recovering....Read more
The speed can drop 10km/hr before the cruise control responds. I used to drive long distance for a living and the only positive thing to say about the cruise control is that its slightly better than the previous model RAV4. The ventilation system is unintuitive and seems to have a mind of its own. Still can't be confident after 4 years!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent family SUV - very reliable
Bought our 2009 Toyota RAV4 auto new in Townsville and it has been a fantastic vehicle so far. We bought it knowing that were going to have a family and needed a good amount of interior space without up-sizing to a 7 seat Kluger. At the time my two options were the base spec Subaru Forester or the RAV4 CV. I wanted a Japanese vehicle and the RAV4 won hands down in interior space. You also get the underfloor storage area where the 3rd row seats would normally fit in the US-spec vehicles. We also bought a Thule Excellence roof pod to carry extra ...Read more
luggage on big trips / camping. We've been through the baby stage with the two boys, and now they're both starting school. The interior has held up well so far, and overall the vehicle has been very reliable during our ownership of it. The paint work is also in excellent condition, albeit with a couple of shopping trolley dings - grrr!!! I have always had the RAV4 regularly serviced as per the service manual, and have chosen to run Mobil 1 5W-30 oil in the engine since it's first oil change and will continue to do so for peace of mind. I am pleased to say that we have had no mechanical issues with the engine thus far, and it runs very quiet, smooth and powerful (For a 4cyl). Recently had the water pump replaced and replaced the thermostat and serpentine belt on spec as a precautionary service. Replaced crap Bridgestones early on with Michelin Latitude Cross tires (awesome tires) - second best thing I ever did behind using Mobil 1. We had the factory Sat Nav fitted from new. (Same as what you get in a ZR6 RAV4 or Landcruiser Prado KDJ120R Grande), Has its pluses and minuses. Has taken us the 'long way' around on a few occasions. Quite often use google maps on the Iphone 6 to get live traffic updates. Wish it had a USB input to play I-tunes and bluetooth audio for my Bon Jovi tunes. Bluetooth telephone works fantastic every time. Really like how you can set up when certain maintenance is due. I rate it. Great bit of maintenance forecasting. In town, and on highway drives with the Michelin tires fitted, she's rock solid and has never felt unsafe on the roads, even during the most torrential rain while living up in Far North Queensland.Similar opinion? A versatile vehicle.
This vehicle can carry a large or heavy load when the rear seats are folded flat. Lots of room for passengers. I bought new and did feel that the throttle response was a bit slow. I now run on 98 octane but have to be careful parking because of the large increase in engine torque or pulling power at low revs. The engine seems to be quieter also with the higher octane fuel. Fuel consumption varies, best to drive gently and then get around 9 litres per 100 km. Done 40000 kms and no problems, we have the previous model as well and this has done 140000kms and have only replaced windscreen wipers, tyres, one set of brake pads and the rear shock absorbers. Hope the newer model does as well.
