Our cruise has been cancelled due to govt guide line that no ship will depart or enter ports in Australia until 30th June 2020. therefore our trip on the 22nd May until 5th June 2020 has been cancelled due to the pandemic crisis.
A full refund has been offer by the shipping line. We want to cancel our travel insurance before it the insured date arrives. We do expect a full refund as no claim is being made.

I am looking at your comprehensive travel insurance for my 18 year old son who is travelling to Bali - 15th to 25th July. Would he be covered if his travel is affected, if the volcano causes travel delay etc.? Thanks
1 answer
Hi
I think that he will NOT be covered if Mt Agung erups, all Travel Insurance have that excluded so tell him to take extra cash for food and accomodation. Am pretty sure no issues with the airlines getting him home once the airlines can fly again. Suggest you shop around for price. Will he be renting a scooter Cathy?

I am holidaying in Canada and just realized that I do not have travel insurance cover. I booked a one way flight from Australia to Canada on the 23/12/2018. I intend to return to Australia in March but have not booked a flight yet. If I apply for travel insurance through TID, do I use today's date as the start of the journey?

For future reference would you please advise me of the Age Limit for Cruise Travel Insurance?
3 answers
Hi. I’ve used Travel Insurance Direct as an insured person. I’m not the right person to direct your question to. You are probably best advised to call TID or read the PDS (preferably both!!). The level of cover you want will have a part to play in the upper age limit for cover.
Hi I don't work for TID, I was insured through TID for my recent cruise. You will need to contact TID directly for an answer to your question. Good luck.
Thank you both very much, I will take your advice.

I am international student, studying in Australia with student visa.I am planning to travel to New Zealand for 2 weeks and thinking to purchase TID standard with additional ski pack
I have read below description,
Resident: means an Australian citizen; a holder of a current and valid Australian permanent resident visa, partner/spouse visa, Australian skilled migrant visa (including 457 and Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa) or a student visa, but excluding
working holiday visas; a New Zealand passport holder permanently residing in Australia; and:
a) with unrestricted right of entry into Australia;
b) with access to long-term medical care in Australia (not including Reciprocal Health Care Agreements);
c) who has a permanent Australian residential address; and
d) who agrees to be repatriated, if required, back to Australia under this insurance.
in case i make a claim (knock wood) what kind of documents should I provide to satisfy those a-d points?
1 answer
I cannot answer the questions re a-d as the 3 people in my groups who made and / or who I assisted in making a claim were all Australian residents. The issues you need clarified were not pertinent to the people claiming. Documents you would need to make a claim for medical treatment would be proof of treatments / receipt of payment - or in a more serious accident - you, a hospital or medical staff could contact TID re guaranteeing payment for needed medical attention - as was the case when we were in a bus accident. For loss of something - police reports / witness statements along with a clear description of what happened would be needed. Hope this helps- sorry I cannot answer on the company policy re people who are not citizens / permanent residents

Dont get Tid
They sound good until you make a claim. We paid them over $800 for a two month trip. We made 3 claims for lost items, theft and airline insolvency cancelled flights and they rejected every one. Do not go with them. Read the small print as you think you’re covered but you’re not! I would not recommend TID and will tell all family and friends to insure with someone else.
