Excellent value and extremely easy to set up. We haven't had to make a claim at this stage.
We have used this 3 times.
It's great that we've been able to use the company on a number of occasions without having to jump through all the hoops over and over as other companies expect you to every time you travel, even though you may have used the same company previously.

I was quiet sick on holiday in Bali. My husband called Travel card insurance from our hotel room. They answered straight away helped my husband locate a Dr and had him sent to us promptly. They also loaded the card provided by them immediately so we could pay the Dr there and then. It was super easy and quick and a real relief. They even phoned me a few days later to check I was feeling better, while I had them I asked if I had to do anything regarding paperwork etc when I got home to which I was told 'No' everything is taken care of and that I should just continue to enjoy my holiday.

I chose TravelCard as they were the only insurer offering cover for the Bali volcano. This gave me peace of mind while travelling. The volcano didn't cause a problem but I did have to claim. Our flight was delayed on our return. I submitted my claim via email and it was processed within 2 weeks. A very easy process and I will definitely use TravelCard in the future.

Policy is good value based on the overall cover
I haven't made a claim and have been using this card for last 3 years. As I am doing 4 overseas leisure trips in a 12 month period my broker suggested obtaining a quote for 12 months rather than each trip. This has saved a substantial amount on premiums.
As NZ was a destination, we received a text message within a couple of hours of the Volcano disaster offering assistance. Lucky we were not there at that time.

Unfortunately when first enquiring about cover it took the consultant a few days to get back to me. Then when making a claim it took a month for a response only to have it declined because cancellation of a flight due to maintenance wasn't covered.

Pre-existing Condition

First, but not the last time, I have used TravelCard. They understood that even though I have a pre-existing condition I am still very fit to travel and enjoy myself. Staff via the internet and telephone ensured the set up of my insurance policy was painless. This happened after days and days of contacting, or trying to contact, other companies and their denying me coverage.
And the price was right!

If the airline cancels the flight am I still covered by insurance?

Hi Terry,

Your coverage will depend on the reason for why the airline cancelled your flights e.g. Strikes, weather, hijack, civil protest or accident.

Generally if the airline cancels a flight due to something that is within their control like engineering issues or issues relating to the operating of the flight e.g staffing requirements then there would not be coverage.

We advise that if you are overseas and your flight is cancelled please call our on trip assistance team on +61 2 7909 2777 OR if you are still in Australia and would like further clarification call 1300 123 413.

Regarding cancellation due to illness, we will require medical documentation to confirm you cannot travel. In addition to this, we require confirmation of the diagnosis and the date of diagnosis. It’s a policy requirement to determine if the condition that has caused you to cancel is a pre-existing medical condition or not.
