The trip of a nightmare
Ok...so we were on a 48 day World Tour with Trip a Deal. We sailed on the Costa Victoria..and after ports closed due to the pandemic, Trip a Deal did nothing. Costa flew us home. No word from TaD re reimbursement. Emails answered after 7 or 8 days, if then. This agent should never be allowed to trade again. A lot of angry passengers are trying to contact them....Julie.

Forget them
Once they have your money that is the end of any commitment they have to you.
They will not answer emails phone calls or help you in any way if your tour goes wrong.

Has anyone else noticed the sudden burst of 'glowing' reviews? So many hundreds of distressed and angry customers and then this rash of positive outcomes. Really?? Notice how there are no details of the trips, credit or postponement arrangements in these positive reviews, unlike the many many more genuine reviews. Quite incredible. (For instance, who would purchase 3 trips without trialling one with the company? ) If only I might be offered a satisfactory outcome .......

I will sleep soundly tonight!
I spent a couple of hours last night reading the predominantly negative posts about Trip A Deal and had a sleepless night. We had a $11,600 trip booked and had a received an email 5 weeks ago, saying the trip was not going ahead and I would be contacted within 28 days. That deadline had passed. People had said that they could not get responses both by phone or emails and when they did, their outcomes were not what they wanted. Also my account had been closed. ly 7 minutes, by a very friendly chap called Luke, who listened to my story. Bringing up my order he was able to tell me that my account was closed due to the trip being cancelled. Not a sinister reason as I had thought. Also, that TOD had sent me an email 3 weeks ago regarding their solution for us but obviously that was in cyber space. He resent the email while I was on the phone with him, explaining what TOD was offering and I was thrilled. A credit of the FULL AMOUNT minus $400 per person admin fees and the chance to rebook any trip anywhere before 31/12/2021. $10,600 to be spent on TOD travel. We don’t begrudge the admin fee as it keeps people in work. This is very fair and very appreciated. I know many people are unhappy with their outcomes but I want to say a huge and heartfelt “thank you” to Trip A Deal and all the staff working hard to solve issues at this very stressful and trying time.1 comment

Give them a chance!
We are booked to travel in September but this looks unlikely. If this is frustrating for us, please spare a thought for how frantic it must be for staff at Tripadeal trying to sort out many thousands of cancellations. We know we are (almost certainly) not going so can only wait patiently to see how it all plays out.

We have not heard from TAD regarding our Order no 123499 just received a couple of emails, nothing since a generic COVID-19 update on 19th March. 1st of all, yes some people have had great service and been kept in the loop and able to re-schedule some twice for the same trip BUT some of us haven't, no contact or response from TAD, completely ignored. aven't completed or contacted existing bookings as that they are now FOCUSING on there more immediate new customers. TAD has made a 'Big Mistake' as we have lots and lots of travel to do and once this is all sorted out we will be looking at other options. y changes to re-regulate the Australian Travel Industry to be accountable to the paying customer. Back in 2018 changes were made to protect the Travel Agents from Tour operators going broke. Being a member of AFTA/ATAS looks after the business interests of Travel Companies training and financial. Covid19 cut short my trip of a lifetime.
I did the Turkey/ Egypt &Jordan tour on the 2/3. I travelled solo, Amazing tour guides. Fantast group. Especially in Turkey, Accommodation was fantastic and the meals were delicious. Sadly missed out on Jordan due to Covid19. Tripadeal organised new flights home. They were amazing at keeping us updated the entire time. Can't wait to travel with Tripadeal again when this ordeal is over. Offered a $300 travel voucher to use 2021 but hoping to claim the rest back through insurance.

Frustrated with Aussie company
Have booked for a trip to Canada and Alaska in early May. Emailed TAD twice in March and had no personal reply. Did receive a generic email that they were working on getting people back from overseas and trips in April. Could not get through at all on the phone. Rang on the 1st April and was told they had a refund for our flights and ground part of our trip and were waiting for the cruise line to contact them. Told we would hear in 10-14 days. With Easter I waited until 20th April to ring again and was told nothing, other that they are working ...Read more
hard and investigating all tours. A complete waste of time after waiting 40mins to get through. We have paid over $12,500 for a once in a lifetime trip. This company made $200 million dollars last year and have had our money since November. We have had nothing for our money and other companies are refunding. Very thankful
My sisters and I were booked to do a big trip to Europe together. Looks like we will be doing it in Australia instead! I just had a lovely chat with a TripADeal worker named Lisa, she was so helpful. I know a lot of people want money back, I am just happy that the company are still around and I will still get my holiday with my sisters.

China - NO GO NO REFUND
After waiting for an update on our TAD to China with a departure date of 28/05/2020, we were advised via email on 9/4/2020 that our trip would not be going ahead. No surprise there. However, we are only being offered a credit for another trip to China of equal or greater value, to be taken by 31/12/2021. For this privilege they are charging me $99 per person!!

Conflict with what was offered by a response on this site, and by email
I find that TAD are changing the rules and not being honest in relation to their dealings with me.
A previous review submitted by me made mention that credits could be used for any deal.
The email I received from TAD gave me an option to accept a voucher, or cancel. Acceptance of the voucher was also subject that it can only be used for a China deal. When I called TAD, I was advised that the so called tour operators only offered vouchers, so hence,I could only go to China. I for one only want my money back. Never again Trip a deal you have lost me.
My wife and i have paid $21000 for a holiday to the USA Canada and Alaska as with the rest of the reviews
no correspondence no refund as far as im concerned your thieving dogs that should be held accountable and you should be made to refund everyone's money. I need the money back to survive Covid 19 as we will run out of money soon because of a lack of work.I bet the 2 directors are sitting back thinking what stupid people we are for wanting a refund while you are drinking champagne and have a good time with your ocean views.Calmer is a good thing hope you get yours and you will but unfortunately you will get my money-your thieving dogs.

A thorough explanation
Just got off the phone after receiving my offer for our cancelled travels in late May. The lady I spoke to was very helpful after I needed some further explanation about the credit I was offered. I am not too happy about the supplier fee, but from what she has explained it sounds fair, she honestly has helped me understand the process behind how they work as a travel company. It’s pretty interesting. Here's to hoping tehy will make it through this mess so I can rebook maybe an Australian trip 2021.

Took credit travel again
Took the credit for our planned trip to India. We were originally offered a credit that needed to be used this year but I think because of the governemnt ban on travel our offer changed. Glad the offer changed. no way I was going to India this year. The new offer is great. We are giving trip a deal a chance here and hope they are still around to honour the credit when things settle down dont think I could ask for more with everything considered. I want to travel around Australia this year please put up tours that are cheap for our healthy country

I get it, it’s complicated and travel is in a bad way...didn’t hear much at first but they were true to their word and through came the credit voucher. I thought I’d lost everything so I was pretty happy with the credit. It will be holiday time for us when all this blows over!

Tough times
Given the circumstances I feel that the outcome for credit voucher provided by Trip A Deal is not bad considering what other businesses are offering. Yes, we’ve been charged a fee, but all things considered, we’d rather to pay it to be able to have options to travel in the future that better suit us and not lose out completely.
