Alta and Cruz are the same - from memory they just go by different names on different continents. You'll often see it being my sold as the "cruz/alta".

Not sure about adaptors.

Cruz and Alta is the same. In north america they call it cruz. I personally never tried with maxi cosi but I am pretty sure with the right adopter you can fit it. Adopter can be source from online or via their website.

Hi, I am a Mum-to-be looking for a first pram/stroller purchase. The Alta is on my top 3 list, I just wanted to know how easy/difficult it is to change baby's nappy whilst they are in the pram. It looks as though the seat doesn't recline back very far, and the child's legs are still at an angle, is this right? Anyone with experience changing nappies in this pram?! Thanks in advance!

I found it too difficult to change nappies with the normal seat. The seat reclines well, but there's the groove in the seat for their bum which is the part that makes it too hard.

The tyres are foam filled which is great.
There are pockets in the basket and you can purchase a clip on drink holder from Uppa Baby.

Does anyone know if the suspension issues (that various reviewers mention) have been corrected in the 2015 model of this pram? I noticed that the 2015 model is meant to have the new larger Airgo tyres which perhaps make the ride better. Trying to choose between this pram and the Redsbaby Bounce which doesn't seem to have suspension issues. I already have a City Mini GT which is good for the park, but would like a front and rear facing pram which is good for shopping, taking into cafes and walking on the path, so it doesn't really need to be all terrain as such. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the 2015 model, and I haven't noticed suspension issues, but then I have nothing to compare it to. It feels nice and smooth to me.

I bought the 2015 model hoping for the same thing - I can't compare it to the previous, but found it quite bumpy still. I also use it as you intend to, but still find you feel the bumps.

I would love to know opinions of the fold on this pram? Is it considered to be compact at all? I own a city mini gt and the compact fold of it is a dream, how does the alta compare?? TIA

Definitely more compact than a lot of others. It's great when the seat is facing out as you can fold in one piece. You can then fold the foot rest under further with an extra click so that it's more compact. Another bonus is you don't have to empty the underneath basket to fold but of course this then makes it far less compact. I would think the GT is more compact though.

Katti

Much more compact than lots of the other ones in my mothers' group, fits in the boot of our Impreza hatch snugly. It's light to pick up, and when the seat's facing forward it all folds in one piece. Doesn't have huge wheels that lots of the other ones seem to. Haven't tried a GT to compare though.

Agree with the other posters. I have an Impreza too and its perfect in the boot. This is the only pram I've had so hard to compare with others but I love it

Hi,
How does this pram go on grass and gravel? I have a city mini gt and i am looking at selling that one to get this one.. how is the push with a heavier child?? Thanks in advance

I've tried a citi mini GT and the alta is not as smooth as that! I wouldn't really say it's a good off terrain pram but it can manage. We mostly stick to footpaths etc so don't find it bothersome but if you were regularly on grass then it might be a pain. Doesn't steer as smoothly as the GT either. One handed push is far easier with the GT.

My daughter is 11kg and it's fine to push with her. When you add some groceries and the nappy bag it does get a little heavier to steer! But the GT wouldn't fit groceries and nappy bag so I guess that's the trade off. Good luck!

I purchased this pram because it is VERY light to lift and fits perfectly into the back of my Subaru Impreza hatchback. It is okay over grass and other uneven surfaces but probably not as good as the prams with the really big rubber tyres. I dont go off road really at all and definitely dont run with it so I cant make much comment on that. My daughter is only 8kg at the moment and when the pram is packed (a definite benefit with this pram) it still pushes quite well.

Yazzzy

Thanks all for your reply! I love the lightness and the smooth push of my gt but i hate the inside out fold, no reclinable foot rest and not reversible. I think am going to swap for the gt. How is the folded size comparable to the gt?? Any insight on that?

I bought mine from Baby Kingdom in Bankstown, NSW. There is also a few online suppliers too. Make sure you take the pram with you when you go to buy the seat to be sure it attaches properly. I found the baby kingdom staff very helpful

I got this pram when my daughter was 5 months. You can buy bassinet OR get infant insert for a newborn.

Julie

On it's own I would say no but I believe there is an insert you can get for a newborn.

zostar9

I bought the bassinet as I knew we wanted him to sleep in it a lot- ie when visiting friends, at Nannas etc. The standard seat is not flat enough for a newborn, the insert- it's like a little 'wedge' that flattens out the seat.

Hi I'm wondering has anyone used the Alta with the toddler board? Did it get in the way at all?

Hi there I never have had to use toddler board yet as I only have one baby.

As the alta had adjustable handle bar length; I would imagine you need to be using it not on talkest setting to for toddler board. As if you need to use it on talkest setting then when you add toddler board it would be in your way.

Btw - the new alta model that just came out can take 2 kids in one Pram so check that out as well.

Also their customer service is excellent

Jen

We use the Alta with the kick board and it's great. We only use it sometimes but it works well - you do have to extend the handle while it's being used and I find my daughter needs to get off if we are bumping over a curb but that doesn't bother me. Has a very good clip so can just be clipped when not used

We were lately in the UK where the pavements were shocking. The Alta managed reasonably well. Where we live in Australia, I take the stroller over mud paths and bumpy footpaths all the time, it can be a bit bumpy, however my son actually dose not mind the movement. The suspension is also pretty good on this stroller.

Elise79

Yes, Yes, Yes! This pram can handle all terrain, and I use it daily on smooth footpaths, uneven footpaths, sand and grass. I have also had the pram for over 7 months and the wheels are still in immaculate condition.

Did many people who bought the Alta also purchase the bassinet? Do you feel it is necessary for a newborn or is the infant insert enough? Thanks

Hi, I didn't buy the bassinet, and only bought the insert to allow the stroller to be used from birth. I found this perfectly adequate. I also put a sheepskin over the top of the snugseat to make it even more comfortable, did not have any problems with it at all. The bassinet is quite expensive and you will only use it for such a short time.

Jburdy

We just used the newborn insert and it was fine. Our bub loved it and slept so comfortably in it. I wouldn't bother getting the basinet personally as they grow out of it pretty fast.

Hello, when we purchased, the bassinet was included in a promotion, however we also purchased the newborn insert for the seat, so we have used both. The insert was great and is cheaper (we even used the detachable head rest in the car on long trips)... Although we were pleased with the bassinet & was handy to have until around 4 months, I wouldn't call it essential. You will be storing it for longer than you use it! Hope this was helpful.

You can't fold with seat either direction - only outward facing unless this has changed for newer models (mine is a 2014). Wonderful pram, love ours!

I take my Alta on all sorts of environments, and have used it on grass. All prams will be more difficult to manouvre on grass, and most parks have walking tracks so you should be fine.

Just a question about the height of the seat ie: from the base of the seat to the top of the canopy where bubs head will be. Does anyone find it to be quite short ? I have a tall bub and am worried that it looks quite short. I'm not able to test drive one before purchase unfortunately. I really like the reviews on this stroller and am pretty sure I'll buy one but would just like to check this first.
Thanks to you all.

The distance from the top to the bottom of the pram is fine. My 18 month old son was tall at birth and is still a little taller than average and he has no issues with the length and it fitting his body.

The hood extends upward - just pull from each side.

Kids tend to grow in the legs after 12 months or so more so than in their torso.

I wouldn't recommend this pram if you do lots if walking on bumpy footpaths. It's better on smooth surfaces.

Hi - the alta does fine on the footpaths around Maroubra beach. I do walk on a regular basis. However if you are going to be quiet active one of the three wheeler prams might work best. There are just no prams out there with all the great features of the alta and that are three wheeled. I am looking for a second hand mountain buggy or GT when I can afford it just as an exercise pram.

Razzle

Hi thanks so much, i am "planning" on doing a lot of walking, which was why i was nervous about the wheels. i have a 2nd hand mclaren for shopping centres so it might make sense to get the 3 wheeler for exercise. No point having 2 stroller type prams..much appreciated answer thanking you

I am so close to buying the UB Alta, worried about the wheels. Everyone says i need big wheels as i walk a great deal, pavement and up hills ? Comparing to the city jogger which has 3 wheels. How have the wheels performed for the walkers out there .

It's not the best pram for walking. I bought a second hand mountain buggy off gumtree to go walking with. The uppababy is better for in and out of the car and for shopping. You may want to look at a Mountain Buggy swift or mini which are lightweight and have lots of features.

Julie
Julie

Hi Dazzle - I have been out and about with this pram since two days after birth and 15 weeks later still going strong . We walk to the beach and around the burbs on footpaths and roads, etc and I can't complain . It is a bumpy ride when i cut through grass but this sometimes is what i need to get bubs to sleep. There is no doubt the air filled tyres of a mountain buggy would be smoother as well as some of the other three wheelers but the uppy baby just has so many good features I think it is worth it. If you want to use it on the grass or go jogging alot etc then maybe invest in a second hand three wheeler too.

BabyBlingThings
BabyBlingThings

I agree with the others. Once you have had a mountain buggy (which I have the duet) nothing else compares to the smooth handling of one on all terrain. However this stroller does an excellent job on sealed roads and footpaths, I struggled on grass a bit but then again the Mountain Buggy almost struggles so I didn't really expect it to cope well. So I would also suggest a second hand mountain buggy for walking, and you can get carry cots so baby can face you but once too old for it, they will have to forward face. By the way, I love my UppaBaby Alta so far - have only had it 2 weeks but really impressed with it. Having brake issues though, so waiting on manufacturer to apparently send out a new frame - fingers crossed.
