Poor after service. Leaks.
VAX does not keep spare parts for this older model. Something wrong? Lost your money. You're better off renting a solution from Bunnings or similar. As the person in the previous review says, it does leak water from the main unit onto the floor, and hot steam comes out of the valve you're supposed to turn with your hands to graduate the pressure. A lot of work for 10 minutes steam... not worth it.
Purchased in December 2021.

Removes tough stains, but leaves water stains
Great for removing tough stains, the steam is "almost" constant, Press for 15 to 30 seconds, wait for 10 seconds to reheat, repeat.
It did really well cleaning out soap scum in the shower.
It removed stubborn stains on tiles
Its moderately quicker to mop with compared to the smaller triangular steam mops, definitely a lot more steam!
However the build quality is questionable. The plastics are too flexible almost like the tube will break if you mop too firmly.
If you leave it for over 2 mins, the steam inside the tube melts back into water, so you get a flush of water coming out before steam. This is a little annoying when trying to mop, you want little water as possible for quick dry.

Portable injury unit. Beware.
Just took this to the dump. Told the guy not to resell it. Bought in January 2016. Used twice in old wooden house and was great. Next attempt at use was a week ago. Now out of warranty. Steam just started coming out of places you wouldn't expect and none out of the steam head includes water just running out of the main case near the back. Thought electric shock or burns were on the cards. Turned off at power and took to dump. I checked all instructions carefully. Think it might have needed more usr. Big waste of money.

Flimsy parts, broke on first use. Poor support.
Cheap and nasty parts, plastic part broke first time. Vax must know there is a design flaw causing extensions to break easily, but their support refuses to admit this and will waste your time. Any decent company would just send you the replacement part (which must surely cost them no more than $2).
My advice: if purchasing, make sure you buy from somewhere with a good replacement policy.

Miracle Worker!
I'm so happy with this machine. I tried scrubbing, bleaching, mopping and was resolved that the grout in my entrance could not not be restored to its original colour, I was desperate and even considered bringing the the high pressure water cleaner it (thank goodness I have a sensible partner!). I saw one of those late night TV commercials about some kind of stream gadget and thought if I bought a legitimate brand it might work, I did a bit of research and bought this. It took a while to clean the grout with small jet attachment but it is now cl...Read more
ean as and not only does the grout look great the whole tiled floor looks amazing and we've been asked if the floor was new. I now use it weekly. When I read the bad reviews I think its because the product hasn't been used properly (or perhaps it is a faulty unit). I do think a some kind of water indicator would be a good addition and some kind of better instructions on how to use it, a YouTube video, something more in the manual. Most people haven't use something like this before and we need tips on what all the attachments can be used for and even someone saying its ok if the heating light comes back on whilst using it, etc. Its a great product but need more marketing and customer service/care this is where you are falling down.Similar opinion? Worst steam cleaner
I'm so disappointed with this steam cleaner. It is honestly a waste of space.
I've tried many times to use it, thinking maybe I was just using it wrong or something, but I can't get it to work.
It takes 5-10 minutes to heat up the water and then when you pull the trigger for 0.1 seconds it wants to heat up again and if you continue to try to use it, cold water is spit out. Not steam.
The water tank is really hard to fill because there's no indication of how full it is. So if you only need it for a small area, you have to empty it and then refill with the recommended amount of water. And to empty it, you literally have to pick it up and turn it upside down.
Yeh sure, it's one of the cheaper options, but it's not worth the money.

Good steam cleaner for simple jobs
I am quite happy with this steam cleaner. I am using it to steam clean my carpet and bathroom. It did quite a good job in cleaning of grouts between the tiles, both floor and wall. It is important though, to use the little brush attachment and to scrub the dirt off. Steaming only won't do it.
Unlike the cheap one I had, this steam cleaner does heat up the steam quite fast. While steam cleaning a carpet, which takes a while and uses a lot of steam, I had to wait around one minute to reheat when the light goes off (roughly 2 square meters of carpet steamed).

Failed first time it was used
After the first use the thermal cut out and heating element failed took it back to place of purchase and had to be sent away to be fixed. The repairer has been waiting two monts now for VAX to send him the parts.
Pathetic service and still waiting for it to be repaired.

So not worth it!
Purchased this last year and already looking for a new one. The hose twists and heats up to be so hot you can't untangle it. It's heavy and a pain to lug around and takes up heaps of room to store. The screw lid is hard to get on and off and in a whole is one of the biggest wastes of money I've spent

So disappointing that I returned it the next day
I was excited at first to think how I was going to have a sparkling clean shower recess and shower screen and that a gadget would do it. Anyway it was absolutely useless. I am a mechanical engineer so I do know how to put things together and I always read operating manuals so I was using this device properly and yet it did not really do a thing apart from put out a lot of steam and noise. The soap scum and mould in the grout remained. Nothing I tried shifted it so I packed the product up and returned it to Bunnings for a refund. I have since used ajax powder and elbow grease and that worked. Save your time and money folks and avoid this device.

Steam is not hot
I thought this machine would steam to disinfect/clean things around the home. However after following all provided instructions from the manual (e.g. filled with the correct amount of water, recapped accordingly and waited for the orange light to turn green for usage), the steam produced was not hot at all, I was able to steam my hands and legs up close quite comfortably, let alone disinfect or clean anything. It was more like a cool mist (and not steam). I went back to Harvey Norman and showed the sales rep the problem. I was able to get my money back with no issues. Thank you Harvey Norman.
I hope this problem was a one off, otherwise the product does not reflect as advertised.

Love this steam cleaner
I really like this little unit. The first one I had, something went wrong and steam/boiling water was spewing out of the unit somewhere (not out of the completely closed lid or the trigger). I was able to pull the power cord out of the socket and not go near the unit until it cooled down. Took it back to Bunnings and was able to replace it with no hassle at all. The new unit doesn't make any noise when heating up, unlike the last one. The only noise it makes it when you're actually using it, which makes me think there was something really wrong...Read more
with the last one (also, the last one you could keep spinning the steam dial forever, can't with the replacement unit). It does a great job, and is a pleasure to use. I've steam cleaned pretty much everything I possibly can - tiled floors/tiled walls, shower, toilet, dog's bowls, rugs, car seats. I didn't hesitate to replace the faulty one with the same model.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Does the job BUT..........
The long stream pipe is great for doing the bath tiles without having to stand in the bath but it feels a bit wobbly. I always start the steam over a sink because of the drips. Got fed up of the pressure going down so quickly. The screw in water tank cap worried me as it turned without opening so I thought I had broken it also the pressure guage dial as there were no markers showing stop. Liked the safety stop button when I rested my hand from the trigger handle but TOO heavy to pick up to empty residue water, I don't want it to silt up.Did a good job better than any other product but not sue if I will buy it yet.

Appears well made solid and good value.

Dangerous when refilling!!!
I used this myself about the house mainly for cleaning around taps, under the toilet jets, gas hobs, shower nozzles etc, we have a separate steam cleaner mop so it was for everything else. I quite liked it, but found that re-filling was a bit dangerous or very time consuming.
Recently our steam cleaner mop failed so my wife to use this, she didn't know that to refuel with water it had to be left off to cool down and depressure, She thought it had ran out of water and took the cap off which projectile'd hitting the ceiling then landing on the t...Read more

Steam Cap very hard to remove and replace correctly ??
1st time I used it, couldn't get the cap off to fill it, 2nd time I pressed down and did the clockwise thing and steam was spitting out from under the cap, so waiting half hour got hubby to wrestle with it and finally go it off and he put it back - as far as performance it seems to do a good job, as long as you remember to point it to the sink when you 1st pull the trigger as you get a squirt of water b4 you get steam, then it goes ok . The only other thing that enters my mind is " carpets " ok it removes stains, but they are getting sucke...Read more
d up so in reality they are still in the carpet ?? so are we just spreading the stains more thinly so we can't see them ?? anyway apart from the messing with the cap / putting on and off / it does what I want ti to do - as for windows no even going to try it as I also bought the Karcher Window Vac = absolutely brilliant, ok $98 to clean mirror doors but never had them so clean so quick, all in all happy with both items.2 comments
Meant to say the stains in the carpet " aren't " getting sucked up so where's the dirt going apart from what ends up on the cleaning pad.
Reading some of the reviews below I can't help but to make another comment here - firstly you let your wife remove the cap of a pressurised unit ??? really ... would you do that with your radiator cap... Read more
on your car when you've just pulled into the drive way or would you wait for it to cool down, secondly - the load of crap lady - I know what you mean with the tiles I found the best way to remove the scum off tiles was with a piece of steel wool with soap in it ( you can buy them like that ) but steaming your whole shower kills a truck load of bacteria so I clean mine with the Vax Steamer. As for the light keeps coming on " it has to " to bring the machine back up to the right temperature, you just keep using it and the machine sorts out if it's hot enough or needs to kick in and heat it up more. There is no miracle machine out there but this one does a great job around the home, not to mention my large parrot cage for a spotless clean.. so all in all it's a good machine. I would recommend the Vax Steamer PLUS a Karcher Window Vac to anyone, the window vac, although $90+ is fast and provided you use their cleaning solution is brilliant I don't have anymore problems with smears on my mirrored wardrobe doors they sparkle - well worth the money and the little effort needed to use it.Similar opinion? Only works for 2 minutes before reheat light comes on
Not sure why, but I left it to heat for the 12 minutes as per the manual, and the green light flicks to orange after a minute or two of use. Then takes a minute to heat back to green. Seems to work well once heated

The best present!!
Today my husband bought me the Vax Steam Home Master. I was pretty excited to use it!
I had a clunky old steam mop that was old and very heavy and all I did was complain.
Now the Vax is light easy especially moving alone in your house. Easy to put together fun to use all the attachments as you work your way throughout the house. I love how the attachments move around the house in the machine with you.. So convenient. The floors are a breeze and once I started I the floors, I was going nuts using the window screen wipe and grout cleaner. Whh...Read more

Works as advertised, need to get the hang of it and then it's fine.
I have a house full of porcelain tiles, including showers and garage. Mops leave large water stains, and I'm too old to scrub floors any more. The Vax does the tiles pretty well, as long as you get the knack of it. You have to vacuum thoroughly beforehand, so your mitt doesn't fill up with grit and crumbs and become worthless.
The steam is quite wet when you first open the nozzle, takes a bit of getting used to. I have learned to start in an area which dries quickly, then after that it does a good job. Particularly shower floor tiles, all t...Read more
hat soap scum and greasiness just goes away. Hubby who has a thing about tinia is thrilled. Haven't tried it on the bbq yet but I'm going to have a go soon. I wish you could work out how much water was left. I have a large house and constantly wonder if I'm going to run out towards the end. The assembly is easy, the parts click together and yes the wand is a bit wobbly but you can work around that. The knob holding in the steam is a bit difficult to use though. My hands are arthritic and it's really difficult to push down and turn. The first time I didn't get a good seal and steam blew everywhere. It seems to be sturdy and well made. No complaints so far. Way better than mopping and a more hygienic result. Takes about as long though. Well made, works as advertised, cleans showers and tiles extremely well. Needs a water gauge, also a bit hard to empty as it is quite a heavy unit.1 comment

of my home. Little quirks I have come to terms with are that I must wait about 10 minutes for the green light to show for readiness at the start and to finish I work till there is no more steam so I don't have to pick it up and shake the water out to empty it- so I work out if it's a small clean needing only 700 ml or a good hour clean needing 1400ml . Cleaning the windows was a joy. They office windows seemed to stay cleaner longer inside and out, lovely. The white cleaning cloth I placed over the brush head has shrunk/ gone out of shape so when I have done carpets my husbands old socks are sometimes used. Accessories are really easy to find on line .
