Steam mop
The vax steam mop is convenient and comes with 2 extra pads. It also comes with detergent that you can add with water or you can just simply use water on its own. As you press the button on the handle, the water heats up and sanitizes your floor instantly. It could also be used on carpet.
Purchased in December 2021 at Bing Lee for $210.00.

Amazing
I have used seven different brands of steam mop including this one, this is the best by miles.
Puts out lots of seam and cleans the floors beautifully.
Heats up in 30 seconds and is ready straight away when refilled.
When you want to remove the used pad you just put your foot on the pad, lift the mop up and the pad comes off, so there is no risk of burning.
Swivels well and is flat so you can get into corners, under furniture and low lying cupboards.
Very stable unit, does not fall over and reasonably priced for such an amazing product.

ll niggle, the cord falls out of the cord grip at the back when using, but this does not really bother me when the product is so good in every other aspect. November 15th 2022 Update: Excellent product

Bad Choice
Bought the Vax steampro to clean my tiles throughout the house but after only using this product half a dozen times, the handle fell off, leaks water and does not clean my floor to a good standard. Leaves smear marks and leaves alot of water on the floor. I decided to throw it before I got electrocuted from it. Didn't bother going back to where I purchased as I got what I paid for......Bad Choice!!
Purchased in January 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $149.00.

Handle breaks easily
The handle broke after using less than 10 times. VAX refuse to replace as just out of warranty period of 1 year (and was quite blunt and unapologetic in emails). Replacement part is minimum $84 online. Buy something more reliable, and ideally not a VAX. BTW, before it broke, not much better than using an old fashioned mop.

Expensive spare parts.
I bought this steam mop around 3-4 yrs ago as I have a lot of tile and timber floor. It’s been a great steam mop until it broke down which things do. The problem I have is I need just a 2-3inch hose but Vax want to sell me other parts with that hose which is detachable from the other parts for $98

Great steam mop, until the plastic handle broke clean off
Provides great steam, is easy to push around, cleans great especially when using detergent. Was very happy with this steam mop. Then just over 14 months after buying it the plastic handle broke clean through when my wife was mopping the floor. Took it back to the good guys, but because warranty was only 12 months we would have to pay to get it sent to a service centre and assessed, then it would be up to vax if they would repair or not. Took it back home and contacted vax, they said it was only 12mth warranty so bad luck. We contacted a service...Read more
centre they gave us the details of, and they want $75 just to assess it, and any repairs would be additional. For a $150 stream mop, its not worth the money to get it assessed - it needs a new handle, there's nothing else to assess. Very disappointing that this happens just outside of warranty and nothing can be done. Was a great mop to use before it broke, but unfortunately we'll probably just throw it in the bin and get a new one, such a waste.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Works well
Yes satisfied with the cleaning power. It is easy to use with all its manual instructions. The only problem is during refilling of water. It needs refilling of water immediately. You need to be quick using the steaming.
the only problem is the refilling of water. I found it more time consuming,

When a steam mop ... becomes a dry mop.
I just got this VAX VX 22 steam mop from the Good Guys. To operate the steam mop you suppose to press a trigger on the handle. The funny bit is once you release the trigger the mop stops producing steam. So, to continue to have steam you must keep the trigger pressed all the time. If you have a reasonable area to clean, you'll end up you a serious muscle strain on your hand. Obviously this does not make any sense. But the bazaar bit is the instruction manual tells me NOT to keep pressing the trigger. So if you do not keep pressing the trigger y...Read more
ou have no steam. What is the purpose of having a STEAM mop that you cannot operate with steam, if you follow the instructions, and if you don't follow the instructions, then you end up with a strained hand. I've just returned to the Good Guys and got a different one. This is the cheapest of the VAX steam mops but according to the salesperson, all VAX machines operate the same way.Similar opinion? Not a steam cleaner
Contrary to a steam cleaner, this steam mop only produces steam intermittently. It was bought in May 2017 and has problems with producing too much water now, contrary to what it should do where the floor basically dries immediately after the steam clean. The cord is in your way when you mop and the handle is not telescopic, so one needs to bend over during the clean. Will not purchase again!

VX22 Steam Mop
Brought it in May 2016 from The Good Guys
I use it once it not twice a week.
Today when I was using it, it blew up and caught fire and tripped the fuse box!!!
Luckily I was not hurt.
Spoke to The Good Guys from where I purchased it and this is what they said, "Sorry it only has a 12 month warranty"

Great steam mop
It is easy to use and my tile floors have never looked this clean and absolutely fresh! It’s a great product and it’s not too heavy. The floor pads are very easy to remove, wash and reuse. The long cord certainly helps! Amazing product and I’m so impressed. I highly recommend it!

Perfect if you want the worst steam mop in the world
Worked well the first couple of times, but now the water AND floor cleaning fluid leak from every place possible - this started after about 4-5 uses. Very very irritating as I end up having to try to mop up all the leaks the mop has left on my floors. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent. I'd suggest investing in something more reliable, or sticking to an old fashioned mop.

Used it 4 times then it broke down The floor felt clean and dried quickly.
Edited review the steam no longer works so it is now just a heavy expensive floor mop until I work out how to fix it. Only used it about four times. NOT IMPRESSED.
The steam cleaner feels hygenic and is easy to use. You can easily adjust the spray section and detergent amount administered. The floor is quick to dry. The only negative is the cleaning solution is awful it smells sickly sweet. It heats up quickly.
I can clean most of a large tiled family/dining room, small kitchen and small bathroom and need to refill the tank with a small amount of water.

Hygenic and Clean Floors with Ease
I purchased this Steam Cleaner when my old one stopped working. I am very impressed with the Steam Cleaning Power this VX22 model has. It is much better than I thought, considering the price. My older cleaner cost almost double and didn't clean as good as this VX22. The water tank is large enough that I do not have to stop and refill before I'm finished and the floors, being vinyl and ceramic tiles, dry very quickly with no streaking. It delivers a good amount of steam wich cleans right up to the edges and is pretty good at getting into corners ...Read more
with the triangular shaped head. It is also good to have the option to add Detergent if you want. A small bottle comes with the unit to try. It does not have an overpowering fragrance which is good for alergy sufferers.Pads were very easy to wash out. Dirt is released easily by handwashing I found. Would definately recommend this unit for purchase, especially for the price and someone wanting to tryout Steam Cleaners for the first time. The only thing that is a negative is the length of the handle. It could be a bit longer, or extendable, to be more ergonomic in design.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Broken twice in 12 months
Purchased new in late October 2016. Constantly stopped working and had to wait up to 5 minutes before it would start working again. Finally died completely. Took it to the Vax recommended repairer to have it fixed. Worked 3 - 4 times before it died again. Works well when it works if you can stop the front of the floor pad from folding under the machine. There are better steam mops on the market.

Surprises
Totally sceptical to begin with. My experience with steam mops has always resulted in streaky floors, multiple refills and more trouble than I'm willing to put up with. This model however? Surprised. No streaks, one fill did the entire job, lightweight unit, wash pads(2×) are machine washable, easy to pack away and store. Totally recommend this product. Impressed.

Light and easy to use.
Just bought this unit and like other reviews, so far so good. It's a nice unit to use, light and easy to push around. It is ready to steam in about 30 seconds from when it's switched on. I like the way the pads just sit on the mop head, no faffing around trying to put on a cloth boot type thing. The price is right, it's a basic floor cleaner and does what it says.

ndle snapped. Being a practical bloke, i have braced it with metal strips. Not pretty but she flies well. It irritates me that they engineer a stress point into a part of the machine, so it will break over rime. Eg they could have made the handle a round tube but they make it 3 sided so it will stress. Its irresponsible for a company to design something to fail, even though most do practice " planned obsolescence ". Think twice before l buy another Vax product.Similar opinion? No Problem so far
I bought this steam mop after researching this one and the others. The thing I liked about it most is that the triangle head lets you get into corners and it swivals. Very light and easy to push. Steam is quite strong, heats up really quickly and doesn't leave the floors too wet.

Early Days but so far so good!
I bought this mop to replace my old Hoover twin tank steam mop which after 4 years service and many a drop to the tiled floor finally snapped in half mid use.
Now I have only used it the once to mop my house but my first impressions are that it's an awesome little mop, in fact I think it cleans better than my Hoover ever did and the Hoover cost me more than double what I paid for the Vax (and I was overall quite happy with the Hoover).
Steam pressure is really quite strong and I can definitely feel the heat in the tiled floor after I have pa...Read more

Can Vax 22 be used on timber floor?
3 answers
It is not recommended on timber and I never used on my timber floors, only tiled areas.
Given timbers ability to soak up water I would avoid using a steam mop on it other than at the lowest setting if at all
Vax says it can be used only on SEALED hard floors, timber included. I would suggest steam cleaning in an inconspicuous area first to see how it goes.

Could you run the steam with just water ?
2 answers
Yes you could. Tap water will work fine. But over time deposits may build up and eventually block the steam jet. If you don't care about the longevity, just use tap water. I use de mineralized.
Yes, I do it all the time. The unit does come with a hard water filter so this deals with some of the deposits from tap water. If you can get demineralised water cheaply it is recommended.
ianfaymanasked
How much does the vax detergent cost per litre & how much do you use per tank?
1 answer
The detergent costs about $15 for over a litre and you use 50ml per detergent tank refil (the steam water is separate). One detergent tank refil lasts me 3 or more floor cleans and that is for roughly 160sqm of tile each wash. I run my detergent light.

An update, last week Vax looked at the steam mop and have now replaced it with a new one.
Still not happy with the response we received from The Good Guys
