I have a Vax V51 model slim upright and I have lost the charger cable/plug. I have found one on Ebay but it is $40 with postage. Does anyone know of an alternative for charging this model and is this the usual price for a replacement charger? Thanks.

Has any one had a problem with the little rubber thing inside the where the wand attaches to the cylinder closing over while you are vacuuming therefore nothing gets picked up.
All the stuff just sits in the wand part as it cant get through to the cylinder.

My vx51 ran out of warranty last month and now it won't seem to charge. The green light comes on basically as soon as it's plugged in. I charged it over night last night and it ran for maybe 3 seconds before it shut down and the red light started flashing. Do you think this would be a battery or charger failure?

Hi Leonie,
Not sure,we have not had any problems with ours.
I really don't know either ken. I've looked online and found a replacement battery but they're $85! I'd hate to fork out that sort of money at this time of year just to find out that it's not the cause of my problem :/
Leonie, I have just had a similar experience with my VX51 - 2 weeks out of warranty and it goes for 3 mins and stops, it will start again but then only for about 1 min and goes on like that. I just priced a new battery and was quoted $104 - but reluctant to pay this kind of money when I am not sure if the battery is the problem. Did you have any luck sorting out your problem?

Can i buy spare batteries for DX50 model?
2 answers
Hi Karen This is the best starting point as it's Australian. http://www.vax.com.au/products/spares-and-solutions. Suggest you post a reply here, so we all know how you got on.
Had a look myself and if said Available at Bunnings.
Karen,
This seems to be the only battery I could find on the VAX website. When I bought my VX51, I was told spare batteries were available. However I found Bunnings sell this battery, so you could check to see it fits? See link; https://www.bunnings.com.au/vax-20v-72wh-lithiumlife-battery_p4470429
Hope this helps?

Absolutely. I use it on timber floors.
Should be good. Used on tiled floors with no issues.

where to buy hard floor attachment?
2 answers
Maybe call vax themselves. You can turn brush bar on and off?
To save everyone else the trouble...
The hardfloor tool is part number 029941001042
It can be ordered through bunnings special order desk or I found it online through http://www.statewideapp.com.au/ for $33 including courier. Takes about 5-10 working days to arrive.
It is the tool for the VX53 but is compatible with the VX51 (I phoned VAX about it).
Hope this makes someones life a bit easier as I found nothing when I googled it :)
