An excellent laptop that far exceeded my expectations
I was a staunch Dell customer for more than 15 years, and never heard about the Venom Blackbook until I walked into MLN Richmond and saw it for the first time. Though expensive ($2200+) I bought this laptop in 2013 and it has never let me down. Compact, speedy and light, with bootup time less than 45 seconds even after six years makes this a well worth investment.
I have a question you may be able to help with. In he attached picture, you can see that the right side of the mousepad is discoloured. How could I clean it and restore the original ...Read more

Purchased this model in 2013 - still running.
This was Venoms first ultrabook. I got it in 2013. It was replaced by the next generation in 2014. So unfortunately it has not been available for four years now. It's been 6 years now since I have had this, and its still running great. A very powerful processor and high speed RAM.
I am actually hoping for it to die so that I can buy the current BlackBook Zero 14 as it lighter and thinner and all made of full metal

A purchase proving to be an expensive mistake
For the high purchase price, the performance does not come anywhere near where it should be. This is NOT an up to date tech purchase at all - I should have paid note to the date on previous reviews (2013 & 2014) as I guess Venom are still using old technology in the machines they currently build - maybe the Zero performance was OK for the earlier teen years of this Decade, but not now as this Decade heads towards the late teen end.
My old Dell 4200 Latitude running W7 Ultimate is old and weary but still mostly as fast as the Zero purchased. ...Read more
The Zero in the Venom name is apt for the performance rating and current device status described. I have had to fall back on the Dell many times since this August 2017 purchase. On one occasion having to call MLN in Melbourne as the supplier when the Venom Zero reported it would take 7 hours 43 minutes to Download Google Chrome even though the speedtest check was reasonable. I deleted Google Chrome on the Dell and downloaded it again as a comparison- NO go slow issues from the same internet connection. Getting rid of the pre-installed Norton did help resolve some of the VERY slow go issues, but not the 7 hours 43 minutes to Download Google Chrome (I retried just in case, but no luck). The most recent failure - The Venom Zero has completely locked up Nothing active at all, screen open, Ctrl/Alt/Del does nothing, the power button will not switch the Zero off, the touch pad moves the cursor but nothing at all will open. The touch pad has always been a bit lazy and slow, so a surprise that it is now the only active, partly working device on an otherwise "DEAD" laptop. The only option I have is to leave it on and let it run out of battery!!!!!!!! then see what happens on restart.1 comment

Credible performance for this machine
I was in need of battery life, the Zero has 6 hours battery life with the Iris Pro 5200 graphics made by intel, it also has a full 47 watt Core I7 processors which pushed me over the line, something this thin and well built with a long battery life just does not exist, usually you can only get an ultrabook and they under perform. I was not able to find anything else that had this hardware in it, with the performance and build quality I was really impressed and the boot times are sensational. The other big brands should take notice.
the boot speed, and performance, plus battery life and build quality

Perfect balance between speed and portability
As a designer, I am always looking for the holy grail of a laptop, while the Macbook is marketed well, it is not very impressive when it comes to performance. The Venom BlackBook Zero, is seriously quick with a Quad core i7 processor, and great intel iris pro graphics controller, yet it is still light and has a long battery life. Very happy with my new notebook computer.
weight, size, battery life, boot speed, performance, graphics capability

Venom so called service help closed the fault ticket without any response whatsoever and no resolution of the issue - a totally disorganized organisation providing no service at all so it seems
