This is a first start mower
This mower is the best price for its value and performance. I don't get a problem even after summer as long as I have new fuel and oil and sparkplug she roars. I've found she has the power to do back and front lawns. I like the size of the catcher too.

Ooops i bought the wrong mower.
After long research and visitng mowers shops I decided on this mower.
I had a 21inch SP Lawnmaster 190cc mower and also a dedicated Masport mulch mower.
I needed a mulch mower to mow on alternate green bin weeks.
So i decided to down size to one mower which will do all the above.
I sold my SP to help pay for new mower and sold mulcher after i got new Victa.
Pros,
1, Nice solid mower
2, I love the power of the new BnS 850 190cc motor.

Solid machine
Very happy with this mower, cuts cleanly with the catcher and quite well with mulching plug. Motor appears sufficient for suburban block, no issues with power cutting longer grass. Starts easily (2nd pull), and very good on the fuel efficiency. Slightly heavier than expected, but did use a battery powered unit prior.

Best mower!
This mower is very easy to start. I have used it once a fortnight for the 6 months that I've used it. It has been very reliable, and easy to maintain. Changing the oil and replacing blades is very easy.
The wheels are smooth rolling and it doesn't take a lot of effort to maneuver it around the garden.

It's good
We got it for the new house from bunnings recommended by the staff. The mower is pretty good, easy starts and do the job well. We don't have too much grass - about 30 square meters. So it is pretty hard to comment on someone used to mow a lot.

Powerful reliable mower
Had a number of victa mowers in the past and was ready to buy a new Honda commercial but with the added expense, weight and motor cut off safety feature on the Honda i decided to get this victa 850 commercial. For the price nothing comes close for its power and ease of use and its not anywhere near as heavy as the Honda. Had it for a year now and have not had any trouble with it starting or everyday use it is just plain reliable. There is more plastic on this model and a redesigned catcher with a smaller opening which does not make much sense a...Read more
nd seems a very flimsy build quality. I use to use the older solid one piece catchers that came with the older models but they do not seem to fit this model. I have had no real trouble with cutting wet grass but this mower still will have its limitations with the catcher as the grass is so much heavier you will have to empty it more often. So if you are in the market for a 4 stroke mower with more power than the Honda this may be a good option.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good
It is a decent lawn mower that functions exactly as described, it is easy to push and turn however it definitely does not have the most powerful engine in the market. It struggles significantly when being pushed through long grass, wet or dry. The catch could be slightly larger then currently

Great cutter. Dodgy clutch.
Always used a Victa. Thought I would try a self propelled version. It does the cut and collect/mulch very well. Cuts long stuff easy. After 9 months the clutch started to stick. A couple more mows and it stayed stuck on. Always in drive. Took it back to the supplier for a warranty fix. If this happens again out of warranty, I will convert it back to a push mower.

This best mower I ever had lasts long
Victor mowers cuts easily and there's no mechanical problems with it. It lasts for a long time. I recommend vista mowers to anyone and everyone. It's easy to maintain just a rinse with the hose and it's ready for the next job. And it's way to manoeuvre in any direction.

Poor Quality Mower With a Good Quality Engine
I bought this mower to replace my old Victa after it eventually died after 40-ish years of service. I don't know whatever happened to the iconic bulletproof Victa mowers that we grew up with? My new mower is no comparison to the previous one that it replaced.
Yesterday the handle snapped off at the attachment point where you can fold the handle over for transport or storage. The thin gauge steel has snapped completely through from the outer edge to the central fastener hole and then through to the opposite outer edge. You can see where it has ...Read more
snapped through just how thin the steel is - my old meccano set metal parts were about as thick as the steel in this handle. The mower is 4 years old and the handle has never been folded down, it has always been used and stored in the shed with the handle in the upright position. I would have expected a mechanical issue with the engine well before a structural problem with handle. Looking at reviews on this site of other Corvette models, it looks like I am not the only one to have experienced a broken handle. The underneath side of the steel cutting deck is already showing considerable signs of rusting, even with cleaning after use and before storing in the shed. Time will tell how long it takes before it rusts completely through. In hindsight, an alloy deck would have been a much better choice. I would never go for a steel deck again. The plastic wheels on this mower are very thin and flimsy. I am very careful when wheeling it on my gravel driveway in fear of damaging the wheels, which I don't have much hope for. Being hollow, they always fill up with grass clippings which are a pain to hose out and clean up. On a positive note, the Briggs & Stratton engine is powerful and reliable. It has loads of oomph to cut through the grass without any problems. It mulches very well, I rarely use the catcher so I can't really comment on how effective it is.Similar opinion? I have only purchased this after trying to keep my Rover going after 20 years. This Corvette does have the power to cut thick Kikuyu grass. It picks up the grass well into the catcher. The biggest disappointment is the starting it.. it takes a good 7 to 12 pulls to get it going and with the size of the motor takes a decent amount to pull the starter. Only had it 4 months...pull start is disappointing! I did want a Honda but was talked out of it by the shop (who don't sell Honda)

d the choke problems... Came to pick it up and Sugden and Kerr were pretty rude basically palmed me off that all machines can do that as it's been dusty and the choke sticks.. I questioned that it is only 8 months old and not that dry. The guy just palmed me off again and said they all do it I just need to clean around the filter (which he didn't bother showing me how or where he'd like it cleaned)... I reminded him I bought it based on his recommendation not to buy a Honda and Victa is the way to go ( I asked for Honda - my mate has one and never had problem with the auto choke). I have tried the mower a couple of times and the auto choke appears to be working now (only 2 pulls to start compared to 20 at one point). I'm disappointed more with the local service...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Powerful good engine, very poor build quality
The mower works well. You need to maintain this. However bits just keep falling off, firstly issues with the throttle cable, then the air filter case broke, one of the wheels is at a really weird angle and now the primer button has popped off. Sourcing spare parts is near impossible.

Really good mower, cuts well
Don't have any issues with this mower. Cuts the lawn pretty well and is easy to start.
Our old mower was heavy and loud but this is nice and quiet, easy to have around the yard and looks nice as well.
Would recommend this mower again for a residential house

id burn it if it hadnt cost me $400
I had a 4 stroke rover for 25 years, replaced it as the base plate had finally cracked through, I have a nice lawn and the rover did a good job, brought this victa, used it 13 times and i am go to sell at a loss, but glad to do so to hopefully buy a mower that mows ok. Firstly it left many, many swirls in the lawn, leaves trails of grass behind, normally you would encounter this is catcher was full, but it was far from it, had to re-mow areas to pick up this uncollected grass, it has slow reacting automatic rev adjuster,(not powerful enough as ...Read more

Victa Corvette 18" cut
I bought a Victa Corvette two years ago, Briggs and Straton engine..engine starts first pull every time...BUT then I noticed a lot of free movement in the handle and in closer inspection found the handle mount to the body has almost rusted out on both sides. I returned the mower to my original place of purchase and was advised by the this particular distributor that he had already replaced/returned 9 mowers for the same fault. I was also advised the company was aware that 700 units had not been under coated before painting but still released to the distributors??? Not good.
The Hills Hoist and Victa are Australian icons?? ...so should I buy Australian products..
I am still waiting to see if the problem will be rectified.

Powerful and compact with mulch option
Newly purchased after waiting 3 weeks for delivery. Back order for this model. Price of $549 - more powerful engine than 100 and 200 series. Started first pull each time - and quieter than 500EX powered Mosport mower.
For Australian lawns the added power is handy -- tougher grass means the engine doesn't bog down or slow the blades. 18" chassis is relatively lightweight - 1" difference is negligible (remember you usually cut based on wheel tracks - which aren't different from 19"). Will have to wait and see how reliable this lawnmower is over...Read more

ean deck and blades and the next start smokes for 10s. Not burning up oil so probably overspill from tilting. Power is sufficient for mulching some of the tougher grasses but do need to keep on top of it -- if left to grow for several weeks bagging is a better option. No other faults, and time for oil change. Handles have held up better than others have suggested - but does require checking the tightness every 3rd or 4th mowing.Similar opinion? Great mower
I needed to replace my old ultra reliable 1990 Victa Mustang and thought a Honda would be a good choice however with the blocked chute issues on the new Honda decks I decided to purchase the Victa Corvette Commercial with an Alloy deck and the B&S 850 Industrial Commercial engine (190cc with cast iron sleeve) for $750 from MacArthur Mowers & Marine in Camden.
As soon as I got home today I fired her up with one pull and I'm glad I bought it. At about $400 cheaper than the Honda equivalent that I was considering which has a less powerfull 160c...Read more
c engine, the Victa Commercial feels much lighter, far easier to manouver and far far more powerful than the Hondas I've used in the past. The Victa Commercial cleanly powered through some long heavy grass without missing a beat with none of the blocked chute issues plaguing the new Hondas. I haven't used the mulcher yet but I'm sure this powerful B&S 850 engine with four blades on the disk will mulch with ease. I know it's the first Month with this Victa but I've used alot of Hondas working as a sub contractor for a mate and Hondas were the Bench mark but with Honda discharge chute issues and excessive weight not anymore!Similar opinion? Very Unhappy with Self Propelled function
The mower seems to cut okay but the self propelled drive belt failed during first mow on fairly light/Medium load. Completed mowing in push mode which is not it's best feature.. After warranty repairs, received the mower yesterday and tried to mow lawn again (same setting so only a week's growth to cut) and within 5 - 10 mins, the drives fails again. This time, I get my old Subaru/Ryobi to finish the Job. What is happening here? Not looking like a great buy at the moment. Back to shop on Monday. Not good for my leather interior. Based on my experiences so far with my Mower, I cannot Recommend this Model.. Cheers

Had the clutch replaced under warranty. No cost. Approx 6-8 weeks over the Chrissy period. No more troubles. Starts easy. Cuts and collects great. Mulch option also works well.
