Check your push down locks are not in the lock position on the sliding doors as I have had this problem thinking that my sliding doors have stop working
tried that, not the problem, thanks anyway.

Why VW have not had a recall on design faults in the T5 vans.. specifically the auto gearbox .. just cost me $11k to have it reconditioned which included a modified oil cooler cane relocated to the front of the radiator.. not designed for Australian conditions! and the the cheaply made tin exhaust manifold.. have they changed the part to something more suited like a cast iron one in newer models...
But we are dealing with a car company with low morals that falsified it’s exhaust emissions read outs.. be aware that VW is not a reputable company anymore.. as proven in the courts..

Hello
How often do the wheels need to be changed on the multivan?
1 answer
Why would you want to change the wheels? Unless the wheels are damaged, there is no need to change them. If you mean to rotate them around for even wear, my practice is every 12 months because I travel below average only 6,000km per year. Hope this helps.

Our 2013 Comfortline has an intermittent slight transmission rattle when sitting stationary and idling...
My dealership considers it to be the DSG clutches??
It's been doing it for approx. 60,000kms. So it began at 120,000--now done 180,000
Believe Amaroks may develop similar noise?
Any comments please?

My WV multivan, had the engine replaced in 2015. It was at 40,000km. Luck it was under warranty. But the sticky ignition also is the problem. Sometimes it takes me half an hour to make the ignition turn. Definitely it is not fair to pay 65,000 and face this problem every day. The service cannot fix that.???? Any solution?

I have a 2010 Transporter 103 KW TDI diesel 7 speed DSG auto. It is fitted with a Frontline camping conversion with 110 km on the clock. I bought it second hand and have had it for 14 months and had it serviced twice. My problem started after the last service about a month ago when I start the engine and turn the air conditioner on a bad smell comes out of the ac ducts for about a minute and then goes away. The cold and heat seem to work well, it seems a mystery why this is happening. I took it to an auto electrician who didn't seem too interested but he did say maybe a lizard or such may have got into the ac duct and died, my thoughts on this are then it would smell the whole time it's on. Has any one else experienced this problem?

No, haven't experienced this problem, but as they say might be because even water, etc. has got into the ducts and gone off. Even a bit of misdirected washer fluid could be a problem. I'd take it to an auto a/c specialist who can at least flush the system, etc.
No, I have not. But once again, our car is only a bit more than a year old. I would follow what Andrew said, take it to a Air Con specialist and get it flushed out.

Would like to hear peoples views on tyre choices for the Multivan, I find my van is a bit noisy in the back. Has anyone else found their van to be noisy and solved the problem? My current tyres are Hankook DynaPro HP, these were recommend by my tyre dealer.
1 answer
I have done 70K on my 2010 Multivan and replaced the originals with Hankook DynaPros. They seem to be lasting OK but won't get 20K more out of them, and while not as quiet as the originals, are not too different. Had one shredded by a large rock on a gravel road. I dunno yet whether I'd go them again - have been wondering whether Cooper make a SUV-type tyre that would fit and may last a bit longer, but don't hardness and noise.

Have a 2006 multivan, done 150,000 km and told by vw service centre in Barossa SA my trans needs replacing. still waiting for them to get back to me with a price. Just told me "its expensive". I believe this is common problem. It is obvious by reviews of some owners they have had same problem. What is best way and most economical way to deal with this issue? Would really appreciate any imput from those with similar issues.
1 answer
You have done well to get to 150k, it is a very common problem, and annoyingly it was also with the previous model. VW show little interest, I had brand new versions, a 2000 Caravelle and a 2007 Multivan, both greta while working, but endless problems, including the door falling off the side. My transmissions failed at around 80k after every care and service. I now drive a much less comfortable but totally reliable Toyota alternative.

So just about to buy the 2013 multivan and asked the question about the gear box to the sales person and he says this was an issue with VW but the newer models that is post 2009 have not been providing the same problems that people have been mentioning on here. I would like to know has anyone had issues with more recent models before I jump in and purchase?

Thinking of buying a new (2012 model) vw multivan, after hearing stories
of transmission problems and expensive servicing on previous models, I
was just wondering wether the new models are now more reliable?

We have two of these vans, a 2010 and a 2011. Both have been very good. 1 has done 75,000km, the other about 30,000 km. No transmission issues. A few minor niggles, but nothing worse than Toyotas owned previously, and far, far nicer to drive, plus you feel safe. Great fuel ecoonmy for power offered, plenty of room, excellent handling. A bit slow off the mark.
Do ya self a favour and dont buy a VW. I have lots of friends with them and they all have major gearbox issues and some of them have very low ks.
buy a toyota - a kluger is roomy - never had a problem.....multivans - a nightmare - look at me review from today. hope you didnt get one!

My 2012 Multivan 4motion Comfortline with optional rear diff lock has just had a major malfunction and is off the road... only has done 17000 klms in just under 12 months. It developed problems with the DSG transmission at around 5000 klms and the service department have ignored my complaints. Well it has now broken down after just 4 days from its first service. I'm very worried about this vehicle and more than likely we are going to get rid of it whilst still under warranty. Unfortunately we will be hard pressed to find another vehicle that comes close to a Multivan.
Get the DSG serviced from a person who knows what they are doing(not VW). Thers is a place in dandenong vic who services DSG transmissions. its the only way to save your DSG.
We love our van, I have had 9 previous. This is the worst one so far.
Will by Jap van next time.VW has lost the plot.
Stop be negative! I can see you everywhere here and always you saying bad! You just unlucky and grumpy person in your life and nothing wrong with VW! Just your posts everywhere here and all negative. Get off! The Multivan is good car! I have one.
