We looked at a number of offerings in the SUV segment - Renault, Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, etc when looking for our new car. We wanted the best for what we had to spend and what we needed it to do.
Many were for our tastes either ungainly, underwhelming, had a cheap looking interior and some were all of those things. It all had to work for us in one car.

After months of looking and test driving and not liking anything in the small SUV class we finally drove the Tiguan and didn't have to look any further.
I was determined to have a car with a manual gearbox, so was incredibly limited as most manual SUVs were only available in diesel.
We initially had a contract drawn up for the TDI Tiguan and then at the 11th hour scrapped that and went with 125 Tsi (20L turbo petrol). Optioned with the comfort pack, blue tooth, tow pack and park assist!
