OVER PRICED RUBBISH
We purchased a 2014 132 TSI Pacific, 7 speed DSG with only 58,000km's five months ago and have had nothing but problems with it.
Initially, our insurer advised us that Tiguans are really over priced in the used car sector so be careful what you buy.
In five months, the car has been back to the dealer for leaking oil at the bottom of the engine near the timing chain, timing chain tension replacement, transmission problems and sunroof jamming.
$20,000 down the drain if you ask me when you have this many problems. Should have bought a Hyundai or Kia I think.
Purchased in June 2021 for $19,990.00.

So much better and roomier than the previous generation
We love our Tiguan, it has all the benefits of the Golf but with a great ride hide and comfort. We had the previous Tiguan and found while good, it lacked the space to be a true family SUV. The current Tiguan is just perfect in so many ways, the size, power and features.

2012 VW Tiguan 132 TSI Pacific
I had this car since new and have nothing but praise did about 110K and was issue free and the engine was powerful and very smooth to drive and the quality was top notch, It has been in 3 hail storms on highway still not a mark...now thats what I call quality, Sadly had to sell it as we were after 7 seater and VW allspace didn't have enough room for our requirement.
miss our little tiguan.

132Tsi oil consumption
Agree with others comments on VW, partners 132Tsi uses around a half a litre of oil every few thousand k's. Also Shine lawyers have conducted a class action on 2012 model Tiguans which some models the engine timing chain can break causing engine failure. The oil burning issue is apparently because the engine bores are honed in a particular way to minimise friction and the oil control ring is too small (1.5mm as against 2.5mm). As a result owners are finding relatively low kilometre motors consuming a lot of oil. This is a known issue with VW bu...Read more
t the company is apparently only interested in selling volumes. As someone else mentioned stick with Japanese or Korean cars if you want long term reliability and a good warranty, or get rid of your "Euro vehicles when the warranty runs out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent, Strong
I've had my car since 2012 and I bought it new. Gorgeous internally and externally. I love this car, it doesn't say no to whatever you want from it. Braking system works really well. At least in 3 different circumstances, the car stopped and saved perfectly millimetres away from the other car in front of me.

Creature comforts included
It is a very comfortable car to drive - there's no bumps on the road driving through the burbs. It has the modern media functions - in-car call features and instantly taps to the android or iphone. But with the fancy assist parking and rear camera, it is still a beast to park, especially since it is a wider car. I have been avoiding parking spaces where I would have parked with our other car. And I have had problems with this car - the catalytic converter indicator came up - had to take it to the dealer, they plugged it into the laptop and turned the light off, and recently it started kangaroo hopping which needed a service.

2013 VW Tiguan OIL USEAGE
My Tiguan uses a lot of oil the last time that the dealer looked at it the said they found a oil leak. Now this car was using and is still using at the last reading a litre and a have of oil every 1000 klm. If it had a oil leak that they said they repaired, How is it that there is no signs of oil under the car or on the driveway where it's parked. It is easy to see oil seeps around the air intake joints, which tells me that the engine has a lot of blow by and this is the reason oil is disappearing and also means the engine is Faulty. Why is th...Read more
e dealers telling lies and trying to fob me off, or don't they know how to diagnose a engine fault like a real mechanic. The car was serviced by the dealership only 1050 klm's ago it has used 11/2 liters of oil since then and they said they changed the spark plugs, There is no evident s of that happening as the accumulated dust under the cover has not been disturbed. The car is running rough and miss firing, I traveled to visit my Parents with my Three children and now I am stuck as roadside assist cant help me with VW oil and I have to get back home about 170 klm's away. So now i will get the car towed for around 800$ and send the bill to the VW dealership as they are the one's that state that they are the only one's allowed to put oil in the engine an the so called roadside assist cant help with a car that's under warranty.Similar opinion? Solid built, no issues
Have a Jan 2013 132TSI, automatic, non-DSG. Fully optioned, great car. Interior is great, well laid out and high quality. No issues whatsoever. Handles great with plenty of power and excellent brakes. Servicing can be a bit expensive and the fuel usage is around the 12L/100km. Country drives see it drop to around 9L/100km.

And here's the irony. Traded this lump of crap in, the dealer said the Tiguan's are not a favourable used car purchase, only given $6800 (from $20k in 6 months) as a trade-in, we now own a brand new H... Read more
