Fantastic Sound Product
I upgraded from a smaller CF series Waeco and firstly love the digital display and the increase in space. The fridge is easy to fill being so tall so never have to try cram stuff in sideways. The features built in like battery protection and emergency override are great features. It doesn't seem to chew much power at all when I had it set on 1 degree in middle of summer on the back of my ute, still had plenty of juice left in 110Ah battery even after few days. It feels like solid construction and cops a flogging on the back of my ute. I definitely recommend getting one if your looking for a portable fridge freezer

Not sure yet
OK so I have used this once, on the mains power overnight when I first got it, worked fine, 3 months down the track went to use it again on mains power and nothing no power, however powers up via 12volt not sure if it cooled but. It did not even work on emergency mode via mains. So I'm thinking the 240v supply circuit is stuffed. After one use!! Does not fill me with confidence. And no its not the fuse or cord.

Strong, Durable, Low Power Consumption and Just Works.
I purchased the CFX-50 in November 2016 with the cover and the remote monitor.
The unit was primarily bought to fit the fridge box in the camper trailer but was moved to the car as it performed beautifully in the 37+ degree heat over the Christmas break and I quickly recognised the benefit of having it in the 4x4.
I did have to work out the temperature variance inside the fridge V,s the digital read out, which turned out to be a difference of +2 degrees. This simply meant that "0" degrees internally displayed as "2" degrees on the digital...Read more
display. No big deal. Drinks were always cold, food remained fresh and frozen items stayed frozen depending on your settings. That's all you can ask for. The fridge has a USB input for charging and could be useful if you don't have one in the car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic
My CFX50 had been sitting in the back of my dual cab for 18 months until it was stolen.(smashed the window).
But it worked beautifully, never missed a beat. Travelled the Simpson and many numerous trips camping trips.
Plenty of room for food and drinks, never used as a freezer only on fridge at a constant 1%. Hooked up to a 100 amp dual battery.
UPDATE-
purchased a cheaper fridge only lasted 6months,
Bought another cfx 50. Should have stuck with my tried and tested fridge

The best I have ever had CFX50
I purchased at RAY's Outdoor 2013 in that year I put in my mini bus commuter keeping -6 degrees all time and traveled to Cooktown Normanton Karumba Mount Isa Boulia Longreach back to Burke and Home in Sydney with no problem. In mid 2015 I put my CFX50 running with a spared battery in hired ISUZU 4WD and traveled to central Australia around Simpson Desert starting from Tibooburra, Cameron Conner, Innamincka Birdsville, Boulia, Alice Springs, Gosses Bluff,Kings Canyon, Uluru, Coober Pedy, Williams Town, Maree, Broken Hills and Home. It covered around 3,000 Kms on Dirt Road with no problem with my CFX50 by running 6 degrees below zero.

Improved Waeco
Seen nothing but issues with the old CF waecos and was turned off. I tried to purchase every other brand but as my ute tray was low I was stuck with the CFX40. I decided to give it a crack and got it for 899 at tent world. Been a great fridge no issues yet (3mnths) and is left on 24/7 on my ute dual battery. Had it running at 0deg in 55 deg temp in the back of my ute for the week and didnt fault. Not that thirsty on amps either. Impressed so far.

Great quality portable fridge for camping and home use
Fantastic quality Waeco fridge by Donetic. We have had ours running non stop for 15 months and it has never skipped a beat. Large interior with split centre to make it a dual zone fridge. You can take the separator out and make it in to a single fridge or freezer depending on your needs at the time. Or simply drop the separator back in to take advantage of both worlds at the same time. I purchased a third party thermometre from a kitchen supplies shop to check the real temperature of the fridge and it was exactly what I set the fridge at. Great reliable and quiet camping or home use fridge.

Have been very happy so far
I deliberated for quite a long time on which fridge to buy, both for camping/hunting trips, and to leave in the back of our 4wd wagon for bringing shopping home as we live quite a way out of town. The fridge lives in our Prado, but also gets moved into the back of my old ute when I head out bush.
My main comparison was between the Engel 40l as I'd used that fridge before, and the Waeco CFX-50 as I wanted a more common brand to allow for ease of access to spare parts, accessories etc.
Really, the clincher came when the Waeco CFX-50 came on s...Read more

Cape York Trip essential equipment, a fridge, researched, bought CFX 40 against advice from friends
Installed into UTE June 2015 with a big 2nd battery just before heading for Cape York. Used to cool food and beer.
The CFX performs as a fridge extremely well, you know, it keeps things at the temperature set, even when its 35 degrees outside. My concern was - can it handle the corrugations and still perform its fridge like duties?
"Corrugation is the occurrence of periodic, transverse ripples in the surface of gravel and dirt roads, and there are lots of gravel road up to the tip"
We really tested that CFX, fixed on a fridge slider, i...Read more
t bounced around in the back of the UTE, the corrugations were very extreme and the gravel roads caused red dust to find its way into most parts of the car, it caked around the CFX ventilation grids, but it still did the job. Other gear failed, like roof racks and trailer welds but the CFX provided a beer at 2 degrees every time! I left the CFX in the back of the UTE and now, 18 months later it's still performing as a fridge very well. If a fridge can withstand those corrugations and still perform then it's gotta be worth of 5 stars!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great addition to the camp gear
Family of four, first time using the fridge - 3 compartments - 2 in cage and one shallower fit everday access like butter. I took the basket at the local IGA because I was worried about space - for one basket of fresh food it's great. It cooled down quickly to the 4 degrees we set it at. Ours has the jacket on. Shop around for deals - it's an expensive piece of kit but will make life easier than ice runs and soggy cheese. We have it on a stand hooked up to a powered site. Anaconda will price match on individual items and beat by 10% - well worth looking into.

Best piece of camping equipment I ever purchased.
Bought the fridge a little over 2 years ago after getting an offer I couldn't refuse. There's just 2 of us so I didn't need anything bigger and I preferred the lid opening length ways instead of sideways. It lives in the canopy of my 4x4 ute and although it's not turned on all the time, it always works reliably and only takes 30 minutes or so to reach 4deg. I've camped numerous times and had it up to Cape York and back and it's never let me down. I had a 5yr old 75ah battery and it ran it for 48hrs with very light use. The new 100ah battery wil...Read more
l run it parked up for 36hrs without needing a charge. In saying this, we don't have kids in and out of it all day but the two of us do enjoy a refreshment or two. I only run a 2m light strip so there's not much other demand on the battery. Update. At a little over 2 and a half years living in the canopy of my 4wd it's still going strong. The only thing is the LCD readout has lost a couple of lines. You can still tell what the reading is though.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Extremely happy
I have previously owned two different sized Engels (long time ago) and they were rugged and reliable. About 5 years ago i brought a Primus 60 litre and found this also to be reliable and had lot of good featues. Unfortunately it was very weighty and as i do most of my camping on my own, it was getting a real chore putting it in and getting it out of the back of the car. The only downside was that it was noisy (fan?). I recently brought two Waeco CFX 35s which i use one as a freezer and the other as a fridge on longer trips. It is a lot easier ...Read more
lifting them individually rather than one heavy fridge. I have nothing but praise for Waeco as they appear well made, offer a number of good features and best of all, they are the quietest fridge i have ever owned.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
It has been in the repairers just about as much time as I have had it.
A fault from when we first bought this fridge/freezer. It continually fails to turn off, I think this is about the 6th time it is back to the repairers for the same fault. It is no fun when it drains the batteries in our caravan while we are in free camping spots. There has been a few other faults too. Sorriest thing I ever bought was this Waeco CFX50 fridge/freezer. Will never buy another or recommend this brand to anyone else, too unreliable..

Great fridge can't go wrong
I actually laughed when I read the negative reviews about this fridge on here. As it is clearly a disgruntled competing brand having a dig! The CFX50 is a very well constructed fridge with steel hinges( so not fragile and easy to break like some reckon) which can be swapped to the other side to change the side the door opens. It's a very rapidly cooling fridge and you don't have to wait long from power up to being at the temperature that is required.
One thing that alot of people complain about is that the new cfx line don't use the almighty...Read more

This is the best fridge I ever purchased
This fridge was purchased to supplement my old CF 50 which I have had for 17yrs. I just replaced the touch display panel, only because it kept scrolling through the settings. I love my new fridge that draws very little power, In fact I had both fridges running in the rear of my Patrol. The old CF 50 as a fridge and the new CFX 50 as a freezer running at minus 15 degrees. The new fridge is awesome, uses very little power and comes with a remote digital display of the temp and battery level.

Waeco = nothing but trouble
Fragile hinges, fragile clips, fragile electronics, poor door seal. Plug recepticles prone to dirt/sand/moisture. Has been used a few times a year since purchase from new. Trouble EVERY time, you don't need hassles in the far north of WA and QLD. Lucky I am a tech and have been able to keep it going but that doesn't account for parts that have broken with normal use. I consider the back of the ute and regular camoing to be normal use.

Very Happy with the CFX 50
This has been one of the best camping items I've ever bought. I originally was looking at a 3 way fridge (Dometic 38l) but after a bit of research switched my preference for a 12v compressor type. My camper has a 260amh battery with 2 solar panels so it made sense to go with the 12v. I've returned after a 4 week trip (2 weeks on 240v and 2 weeks on 12v including traveling with fridge in back of Ute plugged into camper.) I ran the fridge constantly all day and night, plus lights and charging phones and ipads and my battery was fully charged by m...Read more
id afternoon. I had it set on 1deg placed outside and 30deg + days didn't change it performance. Its quiet and cools really quickly after being opened. I was looking at the 40l but am so glad I spent the extra $140 and want with the 50l. Came with Waeco summer pack. Stand, Handheld wireless thermometer, Cover, hat and cooler. Really Happy with this fridge. Update: I still have mine in the garage and it run constantly as we use it as a spare drinks fridge.(12/17)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Don't buy one of these fridges useless
We have had our fridge for 4 days now and wish I had never seen it, it really is inconsistent, you can regulate the fridge section at all, some things are too warm others too cold, frozen milk, meat that is not cold enough one day and too cold the next, I'm getting rid of mine .
It's not safe if you can't control the temp setting of the fridge

Our Waeco CFX65DZ
I would like to hear if anybody else have a rattle around the compressor while traveling, this is our second fridge they replaced the first for the same reason. We live in our caravan and the fridge travels in our 100 series Toyota and gets really bad on dirt roads. Our fridge freezer is a Waeco CFX65 DZ. other than the rattle its a great fridge..

CFX 65DZ
I just bought one of these. Its a cracking bit of kit. After first power on it reached its rec -15 c in about 20 minutes. The unit comes with inserted baskets. If you use the baskets then the top and bottom diver holes don't get blocked and cool air is allowed to circulate. It is designed that way. If for example you remove the baskets and cram it full with stuff then the circulation holes wont be able to work as designed. I put some 2 liter bottles and some cans of beer and a few frozen stuff in the freezer. Overnight the stuff was cold in the fridge compartment. It works as per design and purpose. I will be field testing it this weekend. Will let you know how it performs.
