I'm searching for more information on using a sprayer and painting an old asbestos fence. It's only about 1.75m tall and about 8 meters long that I'd like to paint (the rest is behind shrubbery), as it's so ugly (gray) & is seen from our patio. I've read a few accounts of this paint doing the job (2-3 coats) and that it helps to contain the fibres. I wondered if anyone here might be able to speak to this?

Lastly, would it be similar to try to spray a heavy stain instead? I'm in WA, so not too sure if that's something carried here with all of the brick homes. I'm not originally from AU (arrived in 2007), so what I'm used to getting just isn't here for me.

Thanks for any advice!

As I am not from WA & the conditions are very different to Qld, I did a quick google search about some of the issues you raised. In brief, it appears that spraying is your best & safest method, though a 'heavier' exterior paint maybe better to seal the asbestos fibres. Yeah, I thought that, too. But you're not supposed to brush, only spray. Sprayers like thin paint, so it looks like a lot of thin coats to achieve something similar.

Looks like a few of the older colours have been removed from the range though I'm surprised that a light beige/cream option isn't available, not everyone has monochrome. If you can't find old stock in a smaller hardware or Gumtree etc, you may have to rethink your colour scheme (I switched to a darker contrast, hence the experimental colours) or get an alternate fence paint & have it tinted.

Does anyone here have a follow up - a couple of years later - with wear and tear? Particularly for treated pine paling fence.
I'm considering buying it, as Dulux weathershield apparently doesnt bind to Treated Pine fences.
Thanks.

The fence I painted still looks good. It has spider webs, and general dirt, but a brush and a hose and it still looks good.

I've now used the same paint, but in grey, to paint sleepers around a rain garden, retaining walls and under the fence.

It looks great.
The bunnings guys tried to push me to a much more expensive paint. At the end of the day, it's on a fence. It doesnt need to look perfect, just good from a distance

This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask it anyway!
I have a new tin (large) of Walpamur Mission Brown fence paint. It says it's for timber. I want to repaint the metal fascia prior to getting new guttering. I know I'll have to clean it up with a wirebrush in the electric drill to get rid of any flakey bits. I may also have to rough it up a bit with sandpaper to get the paint to stick. ?
My question is - can I use my fence paint on the metal or is there something I can add to make it into metal paint?
I'd appreciate any comment please. The good, the bad & the ugly ... well, not too ugly, please. Thanks Valma

I haven't tried it on brick, my thoughts are it may be a bit thin to cover bricks well.

how much coverage does 10 ltr cover on 2.1 treated pine paling fence ?

I've found the coverage variable, maybe partly due to the recycled nature of the product and partly because of the wide variation in porosity of fencing timber. I used about 6 litres on a 2.1 fence 12 metres long, so about 2 linear metres per litre (sprayed).
