Hydrochlor SC25 chlorinator trips RCD
Hydrochlor 25SC Power pack has started to shut down due to the RCD in the meter box tripping, installed in 2013 has been very reliable otherwise, with powering off the timer clock also stopped so I guess the backup battery must be flat and not staying charged? I note no instructions in the Owners manual details how to replace it?
Purchased in November 2013 for $1,250.
Waterco mk3 Chlorinator
Purchased my pool 3yrs ago and it was installed with a MK3Waterco system, After 2yrs the timer died and was replaced....now I haam having the same issues with Low salt warning, No flow warning, and the cell not gassing off like it should so I have just replaced the cell with a new one and it worked fine for a few minutes then stopped gassing off...I wouldn't recommend Waterco to anyone looking to purchase a pool or chlorinator system for an existing pool, my previous pool in an older property was an ESR 200 and never skipped a beat in the 19 ...yrs I lived in the property, I still own that property and the ESR 200 is still going Strong....might be time to bite the bullet and install a RELIABLE chlorinator in my new pool.....very disappointing considering the money spent putting a pool in!!!!!!.

Piece of Junk HydrochlorMK3 Mineral chlorinator
Purchased my Hydrochlor Chlorinator in 2022 after the horrendous experience I received from the previous system manufacturer that came with my pool and the very poor service I received from that company and was guaranteed this system would not break down or play up. After 2 years the system started to periodically stop turning on and the timer stopped. Here we are now after the system just running out of warranty and have the same issue and the previous system. NOT WORKING. The store has offered to replace the timer but with the research I have...done on this system while trying to trouble shoot what is wrong it will only end in further issues and more headaches down the track. For the amount of money it has cost to buy, install and have pool tech come to check numerous times as to why the system does not work and only to be told there is no issue why cant the system last longer than the warranty period? I would certainly not recommend this system to anyone wanting a trouble free experience.
Where is all the salt going?
Installed just over a year ago, after about 3 months the Low Salt light came on. Soon after adding a bag of salt, the light came on again, but staff at the shop it was bought from said this can happen in the winter and to ignore it. Come summer, salt was added but light came on a week or so later. Pool shop suggested the sensor might be dirty and came out to clean it, added salt, and water testing showed acceptable levels. Since then, have had to add 3 more bags. Our pool is only 20,000L and with previous chlorinator we added one bag a year! Pool shop lacks staff to come out again. Help!

Did not last more than 4 years
Bought the Mk3 in Oct 2018. In less than a year the timer stopped working, so the pool shop replaced the timer for me under warranty. The timer stopped working a again in less than a year so I bought a timer from Bunnings to fix the issue. Now in Feb 2022 it has stopped working all together, so I bought in into the pool shop & they told me it would cost $1100 to repair the cells. Just couldn’t believe that the machine did not even lasted 4 years.
Certainly not the best
Purchased a Waterco Hydrochlor 3000 in December 2018 from Swimart Dural.
Timer failed within 12 months and a new box was supplied. This timer lasted 6 months so I used a household timer from Bunnings, waiting for the replacement which never happened.
Now the unit has just stopped making chlorine (January 2022) exactly one month out of warranty
So out of warranty and no help available to find out if it is the cell or control box.
Purchased in December 2018 for $1,295.
30SC Chlorinator not turn on
2 years six months ago we installed a new unit. Cell is ok but Chlorinator is not turning on. As we on the main breaker in switchboard trips off.

Not up to scratch
Waterco Electrochlor /Hydrochlor 25 amp SC model Chlorination cell & wall unit was purchased for $1099 and installed new in April 2018 as the same model broke down after 5-6 years. This avoid any replumbing but is now only 3.75 years old, but warranty is only 2 years. It’s now suggested a new unit required as the flashing lights on the Controller continue to go on and off repeatedly. The cell works sometimes but is not consistent. I have replaced the cell already with a new cell. These Chlorinators should last longer…..this works out at ove...r $400 per year if it continually fails every 3/4 years. Disappointing as I trusted Pool and Spa Warehouse as my local supplier. Cannot recommend, and I am considering changing brands altogether. I believe this model is not currently made. Can anyone suggest a “Better” controller that I can retrofit to the same plumbing /housing unit and simply attach the leads to my SC25 Housing unit and cell.

Chlorination cell & wall unit installed new in 2018.
It’s now suggested new unit required. From new, items should last longer…..this works out at over $500 per year if it continually fails every 3/4 years. Disappointing as I trusted Swimart as my local supplier. Cannot recommend, and considering changing brands altogether.

Timer failure after 3 years
Unit operated OK for 3 years and now the timer unit stops periodically. Don't know if this can be replaced. however, reading others' reviews it is a common occurrence. One would hardly expect this of even a cheap unit - which this isn't - especially given very reliable timers separate timers can be purchased for around $8.
A separate timer is what I'll use to keep this operational until something else fails. I wouldn't purchase another.
The unit type is Hydrochlor MKIII 25SC purchased from Swimart
Purchased in May 2018 at Swimart for $1,295.
Always struggled keeping chlorine levels up in summer. It is difficult to program and the buttons and display are unreliable. Electronics broke 3 times in the last 3 years. I wouldn't recommend getting anything with electronic buttons.
Purchased in March 2017.
Broke Twice in 20 Months.
The mechanical timer broker after about 1 year. Now at 20 months since purchase, the main board is dead. Such a piece of junk and would happily spend top dollar on a chlorinator that lasts ages.

Waterco ST2500SC June 2021

Died after just out of warranty
Bought 2017. Chlorine production was ok for a few years. Timer stop keeping time and had to be replaced. Managed to get this done under warranty since it was only a few months over. Then the whole unit died 12 months past the 3 year warranty.
Purchased in April 2017 at Swimart for $1,800.
Very disappointing Chlorinator
Purchase one in 2015 with digital timer and it stopped working a few month after the warranty ran out. Purchased the same one, but with a mechanical timer for $1350 from Poolwrex, Ringwood in 2018. The mechanical timer failed last year and it was replaced. It is failing again now. God knows if they replace it again. Such a bad unit.
Purchased in November 2018 for $1,350.
Questions & Answers
just like so many consumers, my Waterco MK3 timer does not work? The low salt light continues to play up. Can the timer be reolace easily? Where can I order one from, what does it cost and is it worthwhile replacing?
Thank you for your advice.
Don’t know about the timer, but my low salt light comes on just days after I put salt in the pool. The reason for this is still being investigated, but at this stage it seems we’ve never actually got ...the salt level within the optimum range since having this chlorinator installed. HI Cheryl. Thanks for your inquiry. To set ON/OFF times, move all tappets between ON and OFF times required to outer position. I have also provided you a link to our manual. https://www.waterco.com.au.../waterco/manuals/pool-spa/chlorination/646086_hydrochlorts_manual_27oct15.pdf
