Hydrochlor SC25 chlorinator trips RCD

published

Hydrochlor 25SC Power pack has started to shut down due to the RCD in the meter box tripping, installed in 2013 has been very reliable otherwise, with powering off the timer clock also stopped so I guess the backup battery must be flat and not staying charged? I note no instructions in the Owners manual details how to replace it?

Where is all the salt going?

published

Installed just over a year ago, after about 3 months the Low Salt light came on. Soon after adding a bag of salt, the light came on again, but staff at the shop it was bought from said this can happen in the winter and to ignore it. Come summer, salt was added but light came on a week or so later. Pool shop suggested the sensor might be dirty and came out to clean it, added salt, and water testing showed acceptable levels. Since then, have had to add 3 more bags. Our pool is only 20,000L and with previous chlorinator we added one bag a year! Pool shop lacks staff to come out again. Help!

Purchased in December 2020.

Did not last more than 4 years

published

Bought the Mk3 in Oct 2018. In less than a year the timer stopped working, so the pool shop replaced the timer for me under warranty. The timer stopped working a again in less than a year so I bought a timer from Bunnings to fix the issue. Now in Feb 2022 it has stopped working all together, so I bought in into the pool shop & they told me it would cost $1100 to repair the cells. Just couldn’t believe that the machine did not even lasted 4 years.

Certainly not the best

published

Purchased a Waterco Hydrochlor 3000 in December 2018 from Swimart Dural.
Timer failed within 12 months and a new box was supplied. This timer lasted 6 months so I used a household timer from Bunnings, waiting for the replacement which never happened.
Now the unit has just stopped making chlorine (January 2022) exactly one month out of warranty
So out of warranty and no help available to find out if it is the cell or control box.

Purchased in December 2018 for $1,295.

Disappointed

published

Chlorination cell & wall unit installed new in 2018.
It’s now suggested new unit required. From new, items should last longer…..this works out at over $500 per year if it continually fails every 3/4 years. Disappointing as I trusted Swimart as my local supplier. Cannot recommend, and considering changing brands altogether.

Timer failure after 3 years

published

Unit operated OK for 3 years and now the timer unit stops periodically. Don't know if this can be replaced. however, reading others' reviews it is a common occurrence. One would hardly expect this of even a cheap unit - which this isn't - especially given very reliable timers separate timers can be purchased for around $8.

A separate timer is what I'll use to keep this operational until something else fails. I wouldn't purchase another.
The unit type is Hydrochlor MKIII 25SC purchased from Swimart

Very disappointing Chlorinator

published

Purchase one in 2015 with digital timer and it stopped working a few month after the warranty ran out. Purchased the same one, but with a mechanical timer for $1350 from Poolwrex, Ringwood in 2018. The mechanical timer failed last year and it was replaced. It is failing again now. God knows if they replace it again. Such a bad unit.
