Timer stopped working but overall function is great
Timer gets stuck when tries to switch on automatically on Waterco Hydrochlor TS salt chlorinator. happened after 6 years after working well. Waterco support was incredible! Fixed it under warranty even though outside the warranty period.
Show detailsGreat unit, pool is easy to maintain, timer is rubbish!
I have had the Hydrochlor 30 SC for a number of years now and even with the different weather events we've experienced and realtive lack of attention to the pool by myself, it has always kept the pool nice and clear.
It would be perfect if it could cut down my neighbours bamboo trees though!
Only downside is the timer is useless. It used to keep constantly losing time, now it works with one power cycle but sticks at 7.30am forcing me to manually move the timer every morning.
Reading the other reviews, this seems the most constant issue and frustratingly for me, I avoided the digital timers becasue I thought they were temperamental!
Hydrochlor SC25 chlorinator trips RCD
Hydrochlor 25SC Power pack has started to shut down due to the RCD in the meter box tripping, installed in 2013 has been very reliable otherwise, with powering off the timer clock also stopped so I guess the backup battery must be flat and not staying charged? I note no instructions in the Owners manual details how to replace it?

Installed just over a year ago, after about 3 months the Low Salt light came on. Soon after adding a bag of salt, the light came on again, but staff at the shop it was bought from said this can happen in the winter and to ignore it. Come summer, salt was added but light came on a week or so later. Pool shop suggested the sensor might be dirty and came out to clean it, added salt, and water testing showed acceptable levels. Since then, have had to add 3 more bags. Our pool is only 20,000L and with previous chlorinator we added one bag a year! Po

My problem turned out to be nothing to do with the chlorinator. When the pool was refilled after resurfacing, way too little salt was added, so of course the low salt light kept coming on. In fact, it’s great that this brand actually has a low salt indicator, otherwise I might never have figured out why chlorine levels were so low. Also, staff at Waterco bent over backwards to help.
