Australian made for Australian conditions.
Solaguard is our go to range for all our exterior heritage homes around Melbourne. We have been in the industry for 18 years and have not had any issues with this product. If applied properly and preparation is done correctly it lasts a life time.
We have tried all the other big brand names and monitored how it holds up after a few years, Solaguard out does them all. It holds its colour and does not fade, it’s durable and will not go Chaulky if the surface it prepared properly.
Thanks for an amazing product that we are comfortable recommending to our clients!
Purchased in January 2000.
Solagard Roof Paint
Had my roof professionally painted with Solar but within 2 years it was chalking and loosing colour. I contacted Wattyl but they claimed that the roof paint is not guaranteed against chalking only blistering and peeling. Hugely disappointed as I have owned and painted my own homes for the last 30 years and always have had my roofs professionally painted. First time that I have ever seen this.
I Don't recommend Solagard Roof Paint.

One of the best!
Trade painter for 20 years. Wattyl solagard is one of the best products. Lasts a very long time and application Is easy. Living in the desert with 45 degree plus weather in summer and very cold in winter, wattyl still lasts 15 years on weatherboard homes if done correctly... All the negative comments on this product are from people that have no idea about painting in general. Can never realy go wrong with wattyl.

Terrible Paint to Use and Never Dries to Hard Finish
I have used Solagard for the first time this year on a Weatherboard Cottage. Colorbond Finish for some of the trimmings which are timber and metal. I have found that, even after many months, the paint remains tacky to the touch. And if you need to patch it or sand it it is really terrible in that it clogs the sandpaper even when using the correct aluminium oxide papers designed for sanding paint.
I cannot recommend this at all as frankly its impossible to apply ("dries" so quickly on brush) and as I say never seems to develop a hard finish.

Solar Guard Protects like no other
I’ve used solar guard on my Queenslander Since 2004. Always apply two (2) coats each time for my external weatherboard. Lasts around 7-10yrs but I prefer to repaint before it really needs it. Wash the house down every 3-5yrs as dirt is what will degrade any paint. Unbelievable durability on timber posts, balustrade and weatherboard. Repainting now during vivid-19 for only the 4th time since 2004. Solar guard brushes on well and is super flexible. I use the gloss option every-time, I feel it’s more user friendly to apply, looks better and repels dirt better than low sheen option for example.

Middle of the road paint
Goes on reasonably well. I had very few issues with it running but it did take a hell of a long time to dry for some reason and marks a little more easily than I would like.
Purchased in January 2020 at Bunnings Warehouse for $120.
Wattle Sunscreen exterior gloss
Exterior timber windows. New.
Very runny. Difficult to sand.
Had to be applied very thin and it still ran.
Didn't stick to the pre primed timber very well.
2 coats is not enough.
Purchased in December 2022 for $70.

I have painted my decks many times as I live in North Queensland and have to do it every 6 months due to our extreme weather. I used this decking oil on Saturday morning and I noticed on Monday afternoon that it is fading already. I won't be using this product again. I have used the regular Wattyl Decking Oil with no problems.

Best exterior paint on the market. Can be used for bare wood, render, brick and galvanised metal. Excellent finish. Nice sheen level. Washable. Very flexible. Lasts under the harsh Australian sun.

BLISTERS AND PEELS
Following a full roof prep and two coats of Wattyl Solagard the previously painted roof surface showed extensive blistering. I complained to Wattyl and they sent out a rep to examine the roof He claimed "the old paint has been affected by the new coatings" So according to the information on the pail under warranty it failed. He replied "no there's no failure it has reacted with the old surface paint" The paint failed outright and Wattyl relinquished all responsibility. I am considering legal action mainly from the viewpoint that the warranty sh...
Read moreould not be printed on the paint pails if it is worthless and highly conditional. It clearly states two coats over old paint surfaces will give a 10 year warranty. Clearly this is not the case. All I can say is DO NOT PURCHASE WATTYL There are far cheaper and superior paints out therePurchased in May 2014 for $209.

Excellent, durable and suitable for extreme climates.
We have used on woodwork, metal trim, brick and fences in houses in ACT and South Coast over a period of nearly 30 years. It stands up well to all conditions. We usually repaint after 10 years but it is still in great condition. Our current house is close to ocean and subject to strong salt-laden winds. Even though it is often hard to find a supplier locally we wouldn't use anything else.

Long Lasting
I've been using it for 35 years as the property has gradually been added to - pergola, garage etc. and the main house is only now requiring a repaint for the first time.
Can be a bit thick to apply and will stay soft for a while but what an incredible trade-off, very happy with the durability and long life it's given me on wood, metal, brick and other surfaces.
Definitely using it again for what will be the last repaint.
Ignore the listed date purchased, the choices given didn't go anywhere back far enough as the paint did.

DO NOT USE - ALL MONEY JUST SPENT ON ADS NOT PRODUCT
WARNING DO NOT USE THIS
I live in central nsw and renovated my house.
I had old timber cladding so sanded all, I used Zinsser for for undercoat and primer ( brilliant - have used it many times and never any problems)
Solargard failed within 18 months ( supposed to last 10 years) - the first time.
After contacting Wattyl, they came, they took samples and blamed everything but the paint itself. They gave me more Solargard and said to use it as primer and all would be good. They would not honour guarantee, and would not supply painters to ...

Easy to apply with excellent coverage
Used solagard to paint the exterior brickwork on our house. Had two colours of bricks and in the first coat it covered it completely, you could not tell the difference in brick colours. Applied two coats and it turned out excellent. Paint went on well and felt very thick with excellent coverage. Used a 36cm roller with 28mm nap as the bricks were textured.
