Webber roasting
Hey can you still roast even if one side of the Webber has the flat hot plate and the other the grill plate ? It says that it’s recommended for both grill plates but is it mandatory ?
Purchased in January 2021 at Mitre 10 for $800.00.

The definition of Multi-purpose!
I am definitely satisfied with the cooking results of this BBQ as this has always good a good meal. It is easy to use with only two controllers for heating. It starts first time and evenly cooks meals. We have cooked a variety of things on it which is why it is Multi-Purpose. it has cooked noodles, English breakfast, steak and lamb, and many other things. A small, convenient, efficient, and easy to use BBQ makes it one the best on the market.

Perfect!!
I have used many bbqs over the years, but when I brought this for my husband we both fell in love with using it, nice and easy and cooks great!
We live in a small apartment so it fits in well on our balcony without taking up too much space.

Don't bother with a BBQ - Get a Weber
I purchased this Weber before Christmas, it was a special on eBay and got it delivered to my house within 2 days. Construction was easy and instructions were well written.
Cooking on the Weber is absolutely fantastic, people always compliment on good the food tastes. Food will come out cooked well and still retain its moisture. Meat won't dry out. I don't think I will ever bother with a BBQ again, it's just not the same. It does take some time getting used to cooking, but not difficult. Take the time to look at the youtube video's on cooking instructions, they are well produced. I do find the accessories are a little expensive for it but are of good quality.
Best of luck if choosing to buy one, really hope you enjoy it like I do.

The best BBQ ever
The Weber Q's are the best BBQ's available in my opinion. I'm constantly recommending it to friends and family who have mostly bought the Weber and they're as happy as I am.
It's such a breeze to get great caramelisation and it's so easy to keep clean.
If you want a bigger BBQ get the Genesis like my sister did, it's awesome!!

I use this as my main oven. Awesome
The cooking results are amazing! It helps to "learn" how to bbq with the Weber Q but once mastered you will never look back. So easy to fire up, gets to temperature quickly and retains heat. Weber are fantastic by faultlessly honouring their warranty. E.g. We used to live by the beach where everything rusted and the plates coroded. I contacted Weber and they shipped out from Adelaide to The Peninsula two brand new plates which arrived in 2 days. Even though I offered to pay for them, they sent them out "no charge". Had the same Q for over 8 years now. Brilliant.

Webber Family Q - Great BBQ but it melted. Webber customer service was excellent and fixed under war
I love my Webber Family Q (with extra size lid) and use it to cook everything from roasts, to sausages and steaks. Great cooking but you need to let the plate get hot. I think the price is well worth it and I will not go back to a big burner BBQ that takes up a massive amount of room. After almost two years of cooking twice a week, I noticed the back of the Webber box had melted into the tray and had dropped about 4cm when I was about to cook. I clean my Webber fairly regularly and have never noticed any fires in the box.
I called the Webbe...Read more
r Helpline and after explaining the issues and a few emails with photos later, they agreed to repair the BBQ. The service from the local BBQ repairer was excellent and Webber sent the parts up within the week and I was back to cooking 10 days later. Although there were no obvious signs of a fire, the repairer said that it was most likely that build-up in the bottom of the BBQ box had probably caught fire when the lid was down and this could have caused enough heat to melt the box where it joins to the trolley. I have followed cleaning instructions but I will be very conscious of ensuring the BBQ box is free of fat and grease in the future. Although this incident was not good, the customer service from Webber and the qualified repairer was excellent. I do not think you would have had this from other brands. I would still highly recommend a Webber Family Q but would advise to ensure there is no fat or grease build-up in the box.1 comment

Great BBQ, but very disappointed knowing after my purchase that I could have purchase one from the W
This is a great BBQ, but very disappointed knowing after my purchase that I could have purchase one from the Weber shop with high lid, temp gauge and electronic starter for only $10 more. I contacted the Weber customer support and was told that a replacement high lid with temp will cost me $169.90. I know that the lower lid and no temp gauge can do the same job, but I like the idea of a temp gauge when baking similar idea like to a conventional oven. I think this is not reasonable for Weber to confuse their customer.

Hi John - our sincerest apologies for your experience. We do know that this is sometimes an issue after the purchase if customers were not aware of the other models available. I can however re-iterate... Read more
what our customer service team has no doubt mentioned, your model is every bit as capable as the higher lid model with the gauge, it really is just a case of being able to handle a larger roast, and the temperature gauge gives a guide to the air temp of the unit. No where in our instructions do we refer to the temp on this gauge, only to settings on the control knob - so just follow those and the results will be amazing. All that said, apologies again, we understand the situation - I do hope you will enjoy using your Q for many many years to come. Cheers, Dave@WeberAustraliaSimilar opinion? Help......
This was bought as a birthday gift for 1st January this year. Bought cook book and all trays theometer and trolley etc. Can't get any of the 10 roast we have cooked anywhere near perfection. After reading manuals and cookbooks over and over thinking we are missing something still can't get the roasts right very disappointing when you have guests over for dinner. Bbq steaks, chops, all great.

the lid down for ten minutes, before turning the unit down to the roast setting for your unit (find the setting in the instructional booklet that came with the unit), then put your meat DIRECTLY on top of the trivet, don't put it into any dish or roasting pan as this stops the airflow among other things. Cook with the lid down, on the roast setting, until cooked. How do you know how long? For solid pieces of meat (i.e.. Lamb, Beef, Pork...) measure the thickest part of the meat vertically, and cook for 1 minute for every 1 millimetre of thickness..... and then check the internal temp with a meat thermometer. (guides for temps are readily available on line). Also, check out the video on roasting at www.weberbbq.com.au - and if you're still not getting the results you want, give us a call at customer service on 1300 301 290.... I know we'll be able to get you there, thousands & thousands of people love and swear by their Q's, and I'm sure you'll be one of them in time too! Cheers, Dave@WeberAustraliaSimilar opinion? Great for roasting Average as a BBQ
The optional hot plate now a couple of years old falls inside the frame if you try and move anything on it. Waste meat because of this because you cannot get it out. It's natural gas. Takes 4 mins. a side for a medium rare steak, twice as long as my old BBQ and that's with the lid shut. Smokes badly at times, especially when roasting. The dust cover turns the gas on full tilt as you put it on if you aren't extremely careful. Have done this a number of times and woken in the morning with the house full of gas.Yes the BBQ is outside, and you cannot breathe out there. A spark would blow up the neighborhood. So much for cheap to run. Oh and the Weber BBQ tools are useless. Got these as a Xmas preset.

Weber quality
Recently bought the Weber Family Q320 run out model (replaced by Q3200) from a Weber specialist - because only they have access to the tall lid models. My advise - for only $20 or so dearer than the standard lid, ALWAYS buy the tall lid version because it's more user friendly especially when roasting. Also comes with a thermometer and electronic ignition so the $20 makes it a no brainer. In my case the standard lid model was the Q300.
Am fully familiar with the range as this is my third Q (Baby Q for the caravan and Q200 passed on to my ...Read more
son) and I've had the Kettle for approx 30 years so that's a ringing endorsement in itself. Like all Q's, the Family Q is a great product - so versatile and we cook most of our meals outside on the Q320, as we did previously with the mid size Q200. Great for steaks, chops, sausages and just as good for fish, whether in foil or directly on the grill. Fantastic pork roast on Christmas Eve and for the first time cooked pizzas on a stone last week. Perfect so never inside again. Have yet to bake cakes, scones etc but will give that a go soon. My smaller two Weber Qs have one piece cast iron grills. Now Weber fits the range out with 2 piece grills and I can already see the benefits when cleaning - much easier as each 1/2 grill will fit in the sink easily. Or a large bucket. My one gripe however is that the quality of finish has dropped a couple of notches and this is most obvious when cleaning. The edges of the lid and base are rough and paper towel rips when wiping clean. That's very annoing and will continue to irritate every time I wipe after cooking. Its like the cast aluminium components were painted without first being smoothed off. I've reported this to Weber but cant see a resolution as I checked out the Webers at Masters and they're the same. In spite of that annoyance, great product and highly recommended.2 comments
Update - Weber has replaced the lid and firebox (base) in response to a feedback email. No rough edges and I couldn't be more pleased and impressed with Weber.

Great bbq with even better support.
I have owned my weber family q for a number of years now. Not only do I believe it is by far the best bbq I have ever own but the support from weber is second to none. I recently had a problem with the ignition and contacted weber to locate a local supplier to get a replacement part as the bbq is at least 4 years old. They asked me for the serial number of the bbq and informed me that they would supply the part cost free as the bbq has a life time warranty. The part arrived two days later. It is refreshing these days to find a company so easily to deal with who totally back there product, cannot recommend them higher.

Love this BBQ so brought a second one for holiday house. Phoned Weber Australia recently to query rusty grills, the serial no was requested and then my address. Great BBQ But Terrible Parts Costs
I bought my Q320 in Nov 2013 and now being July 2014 I haven't touched the oven in my kitchen since I bought it as this has completely replaced it. The only downside is if you ever need to replace a part expect to be charged a fortune. My tank liner never clipped on properly since the day I bought it, but never bothered to do anything about it as it wasn't a vital part, but after giving the Q320 a thorough clean today I decided to buy a replacement liner but when I contacted Weber they told me it would cost $59! $59 for a thin piece of plastic ...Read more
that costs about 30c to make? No thanks. It's a terrific barbeque but now that I know how much basic parts are to replace it's put a pretty sour taste in my mouth and if a tank liner costs $60 to replace I would hate to see what it costs to replace an important part like the grills, or even the lid which I will have to do soon as mine has started peeling on top. Whilst it's a good barbeque just make sure when you buy it you go through the hassle of getting anything that's not 100% perfect fixed under warranty at the start.1 comment

Love it!
Now why didn't I purchase this weber a long time ago? I have used this almost every day, what a brilliant bbq. Now this bbq cooks the most flavoursome steaks, with a hint of smokiness. Chicken, fish, shellfish, roasts, pretty much anything cooks to perfection. Cooking with the lid down was a little hard for my husband to adapt to, as he loves to flip constantly as you do with a traditional bbq. Cooking on the weber with the lid down is so much easier, 3-4 mins each side for a thicker cut of steak ( medium), oh so easy!
Would definitely recommend, brilliant!

Hello which side is the hot plate to go on. I have the mid sized Weber Q

Hi Angela, it can go on either, but we typically recommend it goes on the opposite side to the igniter so there is enough airflow to ignite the barbecue :)

Hello, with the Family Q i can see the black and grey lid options online- whats the difference? is one better than the other?

Hi there, there is no difference in the size/shape/weight of the Q or the performance; it's purely down to aesthetic preference on what colour want. The colour is a premium option available in Weber Specialist Dealers, Weber Stores and online.
