WFI good - IAG not so good
Were with WFI for years and received good service and the property claims after storms were handled well. My wife (Policy owner) had a car accident that saw her in intensive care. WFI threw us to the wolves (IAG) to settle the claim. Result was claim knocked back as Wife (Policy owner) should have made the initial call to WFI, and not me as her husband (Policy co-signer). Set aside the fact that she was in intensive care and I was a co-signer to the policy, they didn't care. Two months of emails, phone calls, threats and intimidation final...Read more
ly secured the required payout. WFI Consultant finally came back from "business trips" and apologised but damage done. Will never go back to WFI and will not do business with any company listed under the IAG umbrella of businesses at www.iag.com.au at the bottom of the page. Treated loyal, long term customers like utter dirt.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I would never Insure with anyone but WFI...
I just read some of the reviews and can't believe this is the same company I am insured with!!!
I have had a farm insurance policy with WFI for over 12 years, over that period till 2016 I had a few small claims that were dealt with quickly and efficiently...
In 2016 our historic farmhouse which was built in 1862 and we had spent 10 years renovating, burnt to the ground. There was literally nothing left... I contacted WFI and was met with compassion, genuine caring for our safety and useful information on what to expect and where to go to from ...Read more
there.. Yes, it took a while for the fire inspection reports, engineers and Insurance claim to be approved, but not because they were deliberately delaying, more that they wanted to ensure everything was right. They paid the claim in full which was nearly $1,200,000 and even included a pro-rata amount for CPI that I was not aware of.. You think that was Ok?? 6 months later part of the Wool shed roof blew off in a wild windstorm, WFI paid over $20,000 for that to be repaired.... another couple of months later we had a massive hailstorm over most of the property, hail the size of cricket balls, it damaged 9 roofs in total, again WFI forked out over $210,000 for the repairs. Over the next couple of months our large centre pivot irrigator blew over.... twice... total bill to repair nearly $40,000 in total, again WFI came to the party. At all times during that horrific 12 months WFI stood by me when I needed them most, they were always helpful, timely with their payments and never complained about the number of claims being made as they could see they were all genuine. I have re-insured with WFI since then and am happy to say that the only cost increase on my policies is CPI.

Hopelessly amazing
Had our service station sign board hit by a car unfortunately for us was insured with wfi it’s been 11 months and they haven’t got the facts right. No one knows what is happening. I am amazed at the level of stupidity and ignorance I had to deal with

Let you down when you need them
We have been with WFI for more than 30 years, put a claim in recently for a broken window. They asked for more details so we sent them more details. We heard nothing back so sent an email asking what was happening, never heard back so sent another email, never heard back so today have sent yet another email. Nearly a month since we first contacted them and simply want a reply to our emails or some sort of acknowledgement that we exist. Used to think they were a great company, absolutely the opposite now.
Update: Finally heard back from them an...Read more
d they accepted the claim, but with our new policy they put the excess up to $500, no way of reducing, so basically in future, we are not able to claim for anything other than a major disaster. 1 claim in ten years after paying an average of $1500 for the policy every year and we get one claim for a window that costs $300 to repair and we have to pay out $200 excess so wow we got back $100 on our claim......what a rip off. But if we didn't have insurance, with my luck the house would burn down....so stuck.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good Service. No Complaints
My Mum and Dad have been insured with Wesfarmers for years....and have previously never had issues with claims.
I recently moved into a new home and decided to insure my contents and car with WFI.
My parents insurance broker was amazing and gave me a good price and reasonable excesses for my age.
I don't understand why so many negative reviews on this site. Never had a problem w WFI.

Tried everything to not pay out
It's not about insuring you, it's about how not to pay the claim. They spent 10 weeks finding ways how not to pay out.
Will never use them again in this life time.

WFI
I have recently had a hose fire and whilst WFI have been good to deal with there nominated builder JP Flynn are hopeless. We are now almost 6 months down the track of JP Flynn renovating. They have only done about 10 days work. Do not let this company near your site.

Insurance
This insurance company will stop at nothing so they don't have to pay a claim.
Recently had the roof blown off the shed in a storm and because the shed was old and not in perfect condition they reject the claim. Please don't ever insure with this insurance company.
They will take you down. Just look at their reviews. Tell a friend.

Terrible claims
I have dealt with numerous insurance companies in my 65 years .WFI is by far the worst company that I have dealt with in relation to paying out on claims . They are slow and will do everything possible to avoid paying out .
I had a situation where some eaves were damaged during a storm
They sent out a building company and a private assessor plus numerous phone calls and emails to avoid paying out .They rejected the claim .
I had the repair done for $374 .
I must ask is it really worth losing a 7 year customer for $274 ( i have a $100 exce...Read more

From a REPAIRER'S POINT OF VIEW review
The business I work for quoted on an automotive repair covered by insurance in April. Got the authorisation to proceed in early June. Completed the job late June and submitted the invoice the same day. Have been following up on payment for the last month and was told it is in the "processing" stage. Today I rang again and was told we have to change the name on our invoice from WFI Insurance Limited to either WFI or Wesfarmers Insurance Limited. Seriously - it has taken just under three months to request that? From experience, insurance can take...Read more
longer than our 30D terms but we are usually paid within 60D. This mob have taken 90Days just to decide the invoice needs a name change?????? Any problems with invoicing details with OTHER insurance companies have been addressed as soon as they receive the invoice not three months later!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I've been a Customer for 29 years !!!
I joined Wesfarmers when i was just 17 & bought my first car. I am 46 now. I have been more than happy with there service this whole period. I cannot understand the poor reviews. It might be peoples approach & the need to be familiar with what there Policy covers them for as there are a few to choose from when you join. Read the Policy book they send you. Over the years I have had a car stolen, a freezer breakdown & all food rotted/summer storm power loss while away on holidays, a fridge breakdown & food rotted while away again at Christma...Read more
s time 12 years later, a washing machine overflowed thru 3/4 of my house while i was out for the day & flooded the house, storm damage & i have been very happy with each process. Whilst i am always anxious awaiting there response to my claim & in a couple of cases it dragged on for weeks & the flooded house was approx 3 months b4 the claim was final.... but i have always been happy with the 'ease of service' & communication was only a phone call away & i was looked after.Similar opinion? West farmers 5 month overall review
West farmers are horrible with customer service. They kept me waiting for 5 months for my claim to come through. Didn't provide me with a car to rent even tho mine was ridden off.

Terrible overseas customer service. Pathetic, I don't have any words to explain. Do not use them.
I was on the phone for two and a half hours to get landlord insurance and owner occupied insurance. Today I found out there was no landlord insurance in place. I also raised a complaint on a previous issue. Its passed 7 business days still didn't receive a call from the. The overseas (Philippines) customer service representatives have condescending and patronizing tone. One doesn't know what the other one spoke about. No previous notes. They place me on hold to check on something, and the call goes back to main menu and I always have to call back. This happened four times so far. Terrible, unprofessional customer service.

Absolutely dreadful
Dreadful. My mother and father have had their house policy with WFI and it's predecessor since 1954.
Recently my mother had a pipe burst in her ensuite. Water all over the carpet in the bedroom and hallway. A week of hot air blowers, 24 hours a day, to dry it all out and leaving stains on the white carpet in the bedroom and hallway. An assessor took photos and said she should replace all her carpet as you can't join new carpet to old and make it look ok.
She eventually replaced all her carpet at a cost of $9000 or so. Finally she got a ch...Read more
eque from WFI for $1200, less than one years premiums, after some 63 years of insuring with them. It stated that it was for the bedroom only, so presumably they expected that there would be a join between different types of carpet and that the stains in the hallway would remain. Nothing for the cost of the electricity of a week of full time blowers. Massively disappointed and it will probably end up with the ombudsman now. Take out the cost of the electricity and there's not much to cover the cost of replacement, somewhere around $9000Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Do Not Use WFI Aka Coles
Car Stolen, stupid amounts of investigation and claim denied. Engaged legal firm who said for WFI in particular this is common practice and I with great certainty will have my claim paid out through the FOS (ombudsman) process. Huge mess around, stress and now having to pay for legal. Will be funny when I win and will show them every car, home and contents and landlord insurance policy I've switched over from the extended family. I'm on a crusade. Cheap premiums but when it comes time to pay they will fight you to the last breath.

I had an accident in an area which is covered by Westfarmers insurance. I can't decide to deal direct or through a lawyer. Advice please?
1 answer
I suggest go through lawyer, as westfarmer people are very cunning. They even threaten me last time "You can take us to court but remember you will waste your money and we will win because we have the best lawyer" even FOS financial ombudsmen can't help us. They prefer to pay the fees to the lawyer than pay to fix our car. In result we have to fix our car that cost us $3000 as literally their repairer and tow company wreck our car while their repair it, and the do half job, and unsafe to drive. please please please becareful with this cunning company and their staff, because we don't want our bad experience happen to other people.
