2 in 3 years.
They should last longer. Regularly blow light bulbs. 2nd one shorted out behind the switches causing sparks & small but brief flame. Lucky I have earth leakage circuit breakers. Costs an extra $100 to get electrician to fit on top of replacement costs each time. Have to consider another brand & possibly more expensive/better quality.

Does what it's suppose to do
I've recently bought this range hood and had it installed in an old chimney which used to have a solid fueled stove or ancient origin. So this range hood so far has worked well exhausting the cooking smells out of the kitchen and up the chimney to the atmosphere.
The two filters are easy to remove and reinstall.
I checked the tightness of the two screw thread light bulbs as it says they can come loose in transit and one was loose. It even says in the instruction manual to check the tightness of the bulbs and not to operate the lighting featu...Read more

Poor Service ..STAY Away from Westinghouse or Electrolux
1 Star ... poor service. Bought a fixed rangehood from good guys...but was in a box for 2 months before installed in a brand new kitchen. Bulb was not working therefore rang up support but was told to fix it myself. Hold on.....so now i have to call up westinghouse spare parts and pay for something they didn't ship out as working? I bought a cheap CHEF brand for a different property and same thing of a bulb wasn't working and the service was 5 stars! as they sent out a technician to come out to fix it....unfortunately the first time they came o...Read more
ut with the wrong bulb therefore they had to come out again. If a cheap brand can do it why cant Westinghouse as a "premium brand" (the support lady said) cant provide a simple support ...maybe send me out the light bulb to fix it instead of me purchasing it from them. I guess i will never purchase anything Westinghouse or Electrolux and rest assured NO ONE around me will ever purchase any of your brands. 1 bad experience will spread to 20. Maybe as a "premium brand" you can provide "premium service" By the way i waited 30mins for the support line and basically was shut down by the support person. Few years back to purchase whitegoods you will not touch LG or a cheaper korean or chinese brand. Right now tables have turned as product and service provided by these brands are far superior.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Total Rubbish
I bought this rangehood expecting it to last a lot longer.... Just out of warranty.. and goes bang!
I called Westinghouse to enquire about warranty and said it was too bad..and wanted to charge $145 for a technician to have a look..
I did expect a lot more from this product and Westighouse .
This product total rubbish and not worth buying even for $10...do not buy this product.
One star is too much.

Really bad design
This is our second one of these in 3yrs, same problem, fan gets full of oil from use and stops working. First one we had it was in the house we bought and was new, stopped working after 1yr, replaced it with another one and within 6mths had the service guy coming out to get it going again. His comment was " this is a common problem" he showed me how to drain the oil from the fan so it can start again. Now here's the kicker, we don't cook with a lot of fat, we always keep the filters clean, and the same problem has happened to both, hence "Reall...Read more
y bad design" will not buy again as it is a total waste of money on a poorly designed hood fan that should be able to cope with below average daily domestic use without a service call to fix a pretty obvious fault - filters are not effective at all in catching oil from cooking!!Similar opinion? Not bad for the price
Looks good with the stainless steel finish. Simple installation in the space left by a previous Westinghouse range hood (screw holes did not line up - but not a problem. Was 10mm deeper so it came below the top of the wall tiling. Again not a big issue. Three speeds, all reasonably low noise. Light has two globes so illuminates quite well. They should include the first set of Carbon filters - maybe even if Westinghouse were to plainly mark that that product is for recirculating conditions and charge the few extra bucks for the included filters???

Dubious build quality
DIY install was OK, except that it was not a direct replacement for the old slide switch model. This unit is 10mm higher so we have some cabinet work to do, not hard, just annoying. Plus, the exhaust vent is a tad bigger than the old one at 125mm against the old 100m. Moral of story, don't believe what sales people tell you.
Once installed it ran for a couple of minutes on the low setting, then stopped, lights are on but no fan.. ? Did it again an hour later but this time it would run on "high" but not the others..? Much muttering and went t...Read more
o bed. Symptom hasn't reappeared yet, but, on reading some of the other comments in here, I would agree with them and suggest that the switch assembly is a load of rubbish. Might last the two years warranty, probably not.1 comment

Value For Money
I purchased this rangehood recently and it is ok I paid only $130.00 on special. The only thing I was disappointed is that the recirculated style needs a carbon filter as the instructions say it is recommended. It would have been ideal to purchase from the store as an upsell. Why dont they ask you if you will be ducted or recircultaed. Can someone tell me where they purchased the carbon filter and how easy is it to install, do you need to remove any parts. etc...Tks

Will suffice
Bought this rangehood, the single fan model, because after reading reviews of the twin fan models, the fact that they drown out the TV 3 doors up, made it an easy choice. The single fan is still fairly loud, possibly because it has 3 speeds unlike my old one that was only single speed. Happily the old one just dropped out after removing 4 screws (onto my nose), so i requested my neighbour to help put the new one in. Very easy to re-install, but you need one person holding the unit in place while someone screws in 4 screws...very happy ..so far

Does the job LOUDLY!
This exhaust fan was a reasonable price for a dual fan extraction. We liked that it had a recirculating option, it was easy to install. It's ticked all the boxes except for the noise. When it's on I feel like there's a car engine rumbling in my driveway- unfortunately it's not a car just a very loud exhaust fan. The light is good, it's easy to clean, filters are reasonably priced on ebay...once again it's noisy.

Rubbish product and dangerous
Had it for just over an year and the light blew up with sparks and flames. I opened it up to have a look what had happened and the switch was completely burnt out! There was no sign of any grease or moisture in the circuit which may have caused a short. My conclusion is that it's a very badly/poorly engineered product. It should be taken off the market it will likely burn someones house down!

Decent budget rangehood
Had it about 6 mths. No problems to report. Nothing special. It does what you would expect a range hood to do.

Terrible product and Terrible Support. Never ever buy from Electrolux
This product was installed by the builder. When I moved in, after 3 months, the incandescent light bulb blew ( as they do ) and caused a power surge that triggered an explosion and spark on the front switch circuitry. Electrolux eventually replaced it. The bulb blew a second time and after much argument, Electrolux came and replaced the front switch telling me the issue was known and that the new switch was better. It then happened a third time. This time Electrolux sent a technician who wanted to charge me $134 to replace the front switch ( m...Read more
ind you the range hood is only worth $90 ). When I rang Support and Warranty and refused to pay, they told me that it was just out of warranty by a month and it was my bad luck even though the problem was there since day 1. They never got back to me after that. Three bulb changes and three explosion and sparks on the front switch. A terrible product and terrible support. I will never buy this brand again.I went and bought Robinhood instead and had it for over 6 months and not one issue to report.1 comment
Update: I have had the same RobinHood Rangehood for over a year now and no problems to report. No spark, no explosion and no power surge.

Send it back...if you call WH customer support they will probably aks all the usual questions... how old is the unit etc.. then if it's just out of warranty they will more than likely offer you a technician to come and fix it... parts are free but you pay for the call out $145.
worked out how to remove it but havent worked out how to disconnect if i buy a new one looks like the cables must be pushed in regards lou

Hello. We've removed our old rangehood. We're replacing it with the WRJ600UW. We are not using ducting for this installation. Upon opening the box, there is no fixed hole plugs covering the top or rear exhaust outlets. There were two plastic plugs which may be substitutes (?) for covering the top and rear exhaust outlets. These are not mentioned in the instructions that came with the unit.
The instructions refer to "fixed hole plugs" which we do not have. However, we do have two plastic plugs that may be intended for the top and rear exhaust outlets, but, there is no reference to them in the manual. If the two plastic plugs are intended to substitute, then this is not a simple "drop-out, drop-in" replacement. The plastic plug interferes with the unit being flush under the cabinet. How is this installed?
Am I missing something?

Oh.. I'm not sure.. I replaced it with an existing duct so for me the installation was straight forward. So it was flush under the cabinet but in the cabinet above it where the duct was.
Probably best to ask Westinghouse.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Cheers
Hi Bingle
Good questions. It has been a long time since I installed mine. I’ve had a look and my model is the WRJ600US but I dont know whether that makes a real difference. I seem to remember that there were two holes and at least one plug – maybe two (and it/these needed to be inserted). There also appears to be a lever which I assume it to divert from one direction of exhaust to another direction. I’ve thrown away the instructions.
No much help I’m sorry but I have a vague recollection it might have been only one hole covered ie the ducted one if you are NOT ducted.
My unit does appear to be flush to the underside of the recess.
Again my apologies. Sometimes it helps to have a drink and a think.
Regards
Tim
Thanks guys. I sent an email to Westinghouse/Electrolux, but, I think I got a somewhat automated message. It says:
"Thank you for your email. There should be two black plastic plugs that fit in the top and the rear.
Once this is done, you set the recirculation lever to recirculation. Hope this information assists you?
Kind regards, Tania Customer Service Representative"
You guys seemed to understand the content of my message, but, it seems Tania missed the point and provided
information that I already included in my question, thereby, making her answer null and void.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
