Poor quality plastic shelving

published

This fridge-freezer looks attractive and sturdy, and it cools just fine. It does a great job regulating freezer and fridge temps. However it is very noisy and often makes grinding noises at the back when it's doing its cooling job.
Most importantly: The plastic shelves crack and break SO EASILY!!! I have not replaced them because the cost of the plastic parts is SO EXPENSIVE! I have had this fridge for three years now.
I gave it 3 stars because without the side shelf in the freezer, and one in the fridge, plus without the humidity controller shelf for over the vegie drawer - well, it falls way below my expectations and what I need/want from a fridge/freezer unit.

Cools ok - terrible quality plastic shelves

published

Although the fridge cools fine, the quality of the plastic shelves is terrible. Nearly all of the ones in mine broke within the first 2-3 years. Literally not fit for purpose and Westinghouse should replace them - simply not good enough to seek a fridge with plastic shelves that cannot be used because they break so easily. To add insult to injury, the cost to replace a few plastic shelves is not materially different to the cost of the fridge.

Whisper quiet

published

My Fisher Paykel reconditioned all fridge was trouble day 1. It packed in and I decided to go new. This worked out best bang for bucks added to my Freezer room and I only lost a few litres fridge space. I had to wait and wait and wait for delivery, it was on back order. I wanted it and was prepared to wait 3 weeks. It's that popular. Well its trouble free, its whisper quiet the food stays fresher longer I was happy with the price and I can just wipe the glass shelves down. The freezer has not frosted and it stacks everything so well. We think it mazing.
The guys took the old fridge away free
Quiet, space layout, huge veg crisper
egg container odd number threw it.

Pretty ok

published

We bought this fridge back in 2009 and it has performed rather well with regards to cooling and quietness. As others have said, however, there is a big problem with the plastic door shelves breaking and cracking easily, and once that happens, you lose quite a bit of usable space, which makes this compact fridge even smaller.
Very compact, cools well, noiseless
Plastic shelves break easily. Bottom fruit/ vege crisper drawer tends to fall out quite easily.

Good glass, poor plastic

published

The fridge is relatively quiet though the temperature control is not as effective as other fridges.
I bought this fridge because the glass shelves are so appealing.
The plastic tubs on the fridge and freezer doors hold so much that once they have broken, which happens so easily, the internal storage size of the fridge is reduced so significantly that it becomes a mini-fridge.
Only buy if you don't need much fridge/freezer space at all.
The glass shelves are really good.
The plastic parts are so fragile that they break easily.

Bad

This is a reasonably good fridge, but its plastic tubs (smallgoods drawer at the top, door bins for bottles / cheese etc) fall off extremely easily, and when they hit the ground, they crack. They literally have no durability whatsoever. It's made of such brittle plastic I wonder if they have a deliberate strategy of getting people to buy them as expensive spares later. It also has a problem with the fridge door popping open if you close the freezer, and vice versa -- must have a shared airflow and seals that don't work well enough. I would definitely not buy this fridge again.
Good frost-free performance in the freezer
Rubbish quality plastic bins fall off and crack easily
