The crisper draw keeps falling off the runners lately and now the vegetables at the rear of the crisper keep freezing and we get ice and water build up underneath the crisper, although the temperature in the fridge and freezer seem fine. Any ideas as to how to fix this issue?

I’m sorry, I’ve never had this problem! I don’t know anything about how to fix it, you might have to call the manufacturer?
Sorry I can’t be more help
As I’ve already stated the Westinghouse fridge is a heap of rubbish and in the past they have given me next to no help and don’t even respond we consumer affairs contacted them. The crisper runners are a joke. I contacted Harvey Norman who sent out a technician who shrugged and said it was a design fault but at least it cost them money and if enough people do this they may fix the next model. I haven’t had a freezing problem but the fridge obviously has a fault. Contact the manager where you bought it and demand it is fixed. If they try the ‘ out of warranty’ line consumer affairs state that there is a legitimate and legal obligation for the consumer to expect the product to perform for the expected life of the equipment. I think from memory that was 8 to 10 years for a fridge. Check it out and go get them, be persistent and annoy them frequently until they fix it and don’ forget criticising the shop and Westinghouse on social media. People read those reviews before they buy and they know it. Hope this helps and good luck.

I was looking to buy this model fridge but have these faults been rectified at the factory like having to slam fridge door to shut and the crisper draw????????
1 answer
Door slam is an inbuilt function depends how you take it it’s not a flaw, the door stops and does not close all the way it self for you to close your self ...it helps when u need to leave the door open and not close automatically though it does have an alarm to remind you close Incase u forget.
Regarding drawer...yes that’s a problem it doesn’t go with single hand you need to push it from both hands to let it go in straight....it’s an issue thought not a decisive factor to not buy this model...

How do you remove the fridge door if one of the hex screws is inaccessible this located at top hinge located inside the top edge of the door?

Just purchased this fridge last weekend from Harvey Norman in Woodville SA. Very disappointed in the fridge not getting below 5 degrees where it should be 2 degrees. I have rang the store and they told me it would take a few days to cool. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi. We purchased the WTB5400WA in January 2017 so almost 12 months ago & it has been OK with the fridge never really getting as cold as I would like but still satisfactory. In the last 2 weeks the freezer has been getting so cold that it has been icing up & the fridge has almost stopped cooling getting up to 18° on a fridge thermometer. We couldn't slide the setting either in the freezer as it had iced up & stuck so we put warm water on it & eventually got it but it didn't have any effect on the temperature. Our fridge is now set on theach coldest setting but all of our food is going hot. Not sure what to do. Worst fridge we've ever had!!!
Any help?

Sorry I cant help We only had our 540l for a few days but the crisper draw was impossible to use so we exchanged it for another model.
It will still be under warranty so contact the store you purchased it from for their service agent to check, don't let the warranty expire before you do so.

Can someone tell me how to adjust the freezer setting? It is supposed to slide but is stuck on the coldest setting and is impossible to move.

Hi Kathy. My freezer setting just slides across. I'd contact your place of purchase or the manufacturer. I have to keep my fridge setting at the coldest setting otherwise it doesn't get cold enough. Do you have the same problem? I wish I'd never bought this product. I don't like it. All my ice and water stinks as well. I never had that problem in my old fridge. Plus it's noisy, my old fridge was quiet. I guess there's nothing I can do now. I hope you get your switch sorted soon.
Hi Kathy. The only time my control slide was "Frozen" in position, it was exactly that! Because my doors were constantly being left ajar, the internals at the back of the ice box were frozen solid. There was no fan forced air coming out of the top and bottom vents on the right hand side, and minimal air flow from the left hand side. What worked for me was to empty the freezer contents into another freezer(not always convenient i know) and with the unit switched off, placing two big pots of hot water inside and shut the freezer door. I had to repeat this twice before the control slide was defrosted enough to move freely once more.So far, this has not happened since.I am now able to leave the setting at about 80% . The frig cabinet itself was able to remain closed for the 3-4 hours it took to free up the slide, without any loss of foodstuff. Hope this helps. P.S. Don't forget to turn the unit back on.

How do I disable the stupid "cam" device on the doors of a Westinghouse WTB5400WA fridge that prevents the doors from closing effortlessly under reliable old gravity? Who was the dumb creature that interfered with a simple, no-extra-parts-required simple hinge that was fail-safe and always closed by itself to now make the door stay open at about 15 degrees until it is manually pushed past the crown of the cam? Does anyone think that they can improve something that works perfectly on its own? Please tell me right now how to remove this "Feature" - S_C_R_E_A_M_! Please don't include it on future models. I won't be buying one if it remains.

Despite repeated discussions and pleas with the Westinghouse customer support representative, there has been absolutely no acceptable resolution. The Westinghouse reply was that
1. The non-closing door was a design “feature”, purposely applied and that there was no way it could be made to operate as self closing doors did on previous models;
2. That they were not aware of other complaints on the issue (-- not what an employee said unofficially) ;
3. That the offending cam system would most likely free up, with use, offering less opening/closing resistance; and finally
4. It was also clearly put that any attempt to interfere, change or modify it would invalidate the Westinghouse warranty.
I did ask to receive any modification to remove the cam issues should one become available but, to date, there have been no further contact from Westinghouse nor any improvements in the door operation with use. I would strongly suggest that anyone experiencing the same problems to contact Westinghouse directly as well, requesting confirmation of discussions in writing. Perhaps they might eventually take notice of what customers want rather than what their designers advise in ignorance.
Good Luck!
Wish I had known about the door issue before recently purchasing this fridge. What genius came up with that idea!! Or perhaps Westinghouse has shares in the energy companies - I'm dreading the day when I go out for a few hours and the door is open and fridge running because it is not self closing like all other fridges I have ever owned.
