How do I reduce temperature in refrigerator

Hi John, I'm not a refrigerator mechanic just someone who bought a dodgy product from Westinghouse and listed the complaint above when I didn't get satisfaction. Obviously you've played with the thermostat dials and now if your fridge is reasonably new contact the shop where you bought it. If it is outside the 1 year warranty tell them that ACCC (think that's the right body)state that a purchaser can expect the product to perform within the reasonable life of the product. I can't remember whether it's 5, 7, or 10 years for a fridge but you want the shop or Westinghouse to fix it now. All the best but Westinghouse are as slippery as a wet eel when it comes to excuses.

Great response thank you but as they say we think we have a lemon. There are no thermostats dials I can find to adjust. Thats the main issue. Thanks again. John

The crisper is not wide enough to enable the crisper to run on the runners on both sides. One side is on the runner the other is not.

It should you've got a dud, typical westinghouse, take it back to where you bought it and demand another crisper drawer. My problem is that it doesn't slide out. Good luck.

The crisper draw keeps falling off the runners lately and now the vegetables at the rear of the crisper keep freezing and we get ice and water build up underneath the crisper, although the temperature in the fridge and freezer seem fine. Any ideas as to how to fix this issue?

I’m sorry, I’ve never had this problem! I don’t know anything about how to fix it, you might have to call the manufacturer?
Sorry I can’t be more help

As I’ve already stated the Westinghouse fridge is a heap of rubbish and in the past they have given me next to no help and don’t even respond we consumer affairs contacted them. The crisper runners are a joke. I contacted Harvey Norman who sent out a technician who shrugged and said it was a design fault but at least it cost them money and if enough people do this they may fix the next model. I haven’t had a freezing problem but the fridge obviously has a fault. Contact the manager where you bought it and demand it is fixed. If they try the ‘ out of warranty’ line consumer affairs state that there is a legitimate and legal obligation for the consumer to expect the product to perform for the expected life of the equipment. I think from memory that was 8 to 10 years for a fridge. Check it out and go get them, be persistent and annoy them frequently until they fix it and don’ forget criticising the shop and Westinghouse on social media. People read those reviews before they buy and they know it. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have just been sorting out my fridge that we purchased in the last week of June 2108, Westinghouse Frost-Free Model WTB4600WA, 460L. Overall we have been happy with it. But just now it is making an usual spraying sound from inside the fridge at the top back. It sounds like an aerosol can is being squirted or gas is periodically spraying out somewhere. Is this a problem and who should I contact if it is?

I was looking to buy this model fridge but have these faults been rectified at the factory like having to slam fridge door to shut and the crisper draw????????

Door slam is an inbuilt function depends how you take it it’s not a flaw, the door stops and does not close all the way it self for you to close your self ...it helps when u need to leave the door open and not close automatically though it does have an alarm to remind you close Incase u forget.

Regarding drawer...yes that’s a problem it doesn’t go with single hand you need to push it from both hands to let it go in straight....it’s an issue thought not a decisive factor to not buy this model...

WTB5400WA (540L, White)

Hi. We purchased the WTB5400WA in January 2017 so almost 12 months ago & it has been OK with the fridge never really getting as cold as I would like but still satisfactory. In the last 2 weeks the freezer has been getting so cold that it has been icing up & the fridge has almost stopped cooling getting up to 18° on a fridge thermometer. We couldn't slide the setting either in the freezer as it had iced up & stuck so we put warm water on it & eventually got it but it didn't have any effect on the temperature. Our fridge is now set on theach coldest setting but all of our food is going hot. Not sure what to do. Worst fridge we've ever had!!!
Any help?

Sorry I cant help We only had our 540l for a few days but the crisper draw was impossible to use so we exchanged it for another model.
It will still be under warranty so contact the store you purchased it from for their service agent to check, don't let the warranty expire before you do so.

Hi Westinghouse Official,
I recently had our WBE5314SA Westinghouse bottom mount fridge repaired (needed a new control board fitted) as it frosted up until things in the fridge went warm. Since the technician has been the user interface icons flash - I can't seem to set the temperature to what I want. Although it is working and it allows me to move through the the temperature ranges it doesn't stay on my selected temp it just flashes...
It's too cold on the default temp the freezer section is building up ice drips over the front draws. It never flashed before this, I bought it new in Feb 2016. Can you tell me why this is happening please?

I have just bought a 540L WTB5404SA Westinghouse 1 week ago and now I have a flashing light on the interface. The flashing light is next to colder. I have tried to turn the fridge off to re-set the settings but that didn't work. The interface seems to have locked I can't press anything. I have to wait for over a week for a service due to not being able to be at home because of work. Any suggestions on why the light is flashing? Very disappointed considering the fridge is only 1 week old

Hi Lisa, So sorry to hear of this fault. I'm no tech and bear in mind it is still under warranty.
You say that you have turned the fridge off and on. Like all things now it's all electronic, so on the rh side are the settings.
tap the bottom one until it returns to the first light, then if the light is still flashing tap it again to see if it goes out.
This is setting the fridge colder as lights go upwards. If it still has a flashing light then try the on off again, but this time pull the plug out of the wall socket for say about half an hour and open the fridge door for a few seconds to drain what energy is left in the unit. Then put the plug back in and turn the fridge on, wait for a few mins then open the door and see if the light still flashes if not then it has reset itself. If it still flashes then it's ring the tech number and report it pronto.
REMEMBER this is only a guide and reminding you that the fridge is still under warranty.
Plus maybe go back to the store you bought from, I'm sure that they will only be to glad to help you.
Lastly if you could reply back here when all is fixed stating the remedy, that way others will be aware of what the trouble was.
Hope that this helps you with your problem.

turn to page 18 of the manual it can be a bit tricky doing the setting I eventually got mine right on the mid setting 3 blue lights illuminate and stay on till you change to a colder setting. give me the old dial setting cold, mid and colder inside fridges any day much simpler than these Electronic controls. try putting a thermometer inside the fridge to test. I have had my fridge for 1 year and it is going really well. hope this helps a bit.

Hi there. The only advice i can suggest is to check and make sure that the air flow vents in the rear inside of the freezer box (there are four, almost one in each corner) don't have food pushed up against them, which of course would restrict vital airflow. Otherwise it may be a dealer assist problem. best of luck with that.

I would call the place of purchase and tell them your issues and take it in for an exchange. Im living with my fridge after experience this issue and defrosting the whole unit it now sounds like a motorbike in the kitchen for Pretty much half the day i lost the warranty so am stuck with it until i can sort it out i think we just bought a dodgy fridge Westinghouse never again

Marianne

This fridge should be taken off the market in my opinion. The problems that you're having Nick with the freezer are similar to the problems I am having with the fridge. I have to keep my fridge at the coolest possible setting (coldest) to have it work properly otherwise it doesn't store my food at ideal temperature. I bought a fridge thermometer and this tells me it's at 4 degrees which I believe is good. The other day it went up to 10 degrees for some reason, then dropped back to 2 degrees but has finally settled to 4 degrees again. I say contact your place of purchase and Westinghouse. I had always thought Westinghouse was a good brand but now I have my doubts as I also have an oven by Westinghouse and that doesn't cook at the right temperature. All I say, is I will never buy Westinghouse in the future.
