Just the fridge we needed
Have always liked Westinghouse refrigerators for durability, last one lasted 25 years. This is the traditional freezer on top model which is cheaper and ideal for the space we had to put it in. We probably could have just replaced the seals on the old Westinghouse and given it a good clean, but it is great to have this easy to clean, quiet, new model!

Great fridge
We purchased this fridge about 18 months ago as our old Westinghouse was playing up after about 8 years of solid use. It's a great fridge that hasn't given us any issue to date. I expect it will continue to keep our food fresh and drinks chilled for at least another 5 years.

Fantastic Fridge from a bulletproof brand.
After 18 years we finally have to say goodbye to our previous Westinghouse fridge and not because it broke! but it was just so old couldn't keep food cold enough. I have literally nothing bad to say about Westinghouse; their fridges are so wonderfully reliable and its remarkable when I can say I've basically used the one fridge for most of my life. The previous fridge we had (that was replaced when i was really young) was also a Westinghouse and my mum says was also a good 16 years old.
Anyway about this fridge in particular

Nothing but trouble, breaks constantly, very low quality. Dissapointed in Westinghouse.
Bought for very cheap in Harvey Norman Fyshwick on 18/11/2017 for just over $900, seemed like a great purchase, however problems started right away. The crisper would constantly slide off the railings and is really hard to close/open. Placed warranty call, the technician came and fixed, the crisper worked for two days, then became difficult to open/close again. On the weekend the fridge stopped working and the food wouldn't get chilled. All my food went off. Placed a warranty call again, the technician comes to have a look today. Also, the fridge is super loud at night, everything vibrating. I woke up a few times from the noise the fridge was making. Here is the details to verify my purchase: 18/11/17 11:13:25 61 6098737, serial #: 71773510

Nice Big Fridge, Very Quiet and Very spacious Inside, not expensive
Very nice big Fridge for less than $1000 and very spacious inside. Very spacious space for Freezer, very energy efficient, very quiet, Nice Glass shelving instead of racks, hence easy to clean. Sliding divider for fruit or vegetables is very convenient indeed. It has also a warning alarm when door has been opened for too long which is also very convenient feature.

Pay the price
When shopping for whitegoods i try to buy good name brands. I purchased my westinghouse because of this. I happy to pay an extra amount to avoid issues later on. It's a good dependable buy, it's quiet and maintains an even temperature. Obviously the fridge you buy should depend on how many people in your household, so this may not be for you.

Economical purchase but good quality
This fridge has a good temperature control even in a hottest time in summer this year. Also it is quiet while then compressor is working. In terms of cleaning it is easy to clean mainly as it is frost-free. The freezer is pretty big to have all my purchase.

Nice big fridge
I am very happy with this fridge. It is spacious, has a good sized freezer for 2 people and lots of inner drawers and shelves in the fridge part. It looks good and is efficient. The little freezer drawers are very useful for small ice packs for our little esky.

Fantastic but noisy fridge
Works well. energy efficient and all the compartments stay at the correct temperature. Door and lights are great,
The only thing that I do not like about this that the fridge is much noisier than the one it replaced. It hums and gurgles most of the time so much that we have to have the bedroom door closed at night to get to sleep. Maybe all new frost free fridges would be this load but it is not something you can listen too at the shop. They should have a Db rating and "time on" as well.

Awesome family fridge!
I purchased this fridge to replace a power hungry double door unit which hasn't fit into any kitchen in the past 4 years. Easy to see things, heaps of space and extremely quiet. The freezer would be better if it had a light and the crisper does stick and is sometimes hard to pull out. Overall a great product for a great price!

Great fridge, spacious and sleek design.
I purchased this fridge about 10 months ago and it has been fantastic, maintains a great temperature through the whole fridge and keeps all the food under temperature, the design is exactly the style I like with the freezer being on top and the crisper located on the bottom.
The fridge has different temperature settings which can be adjusted, this saves on running costs which is handy as there are times where there are different products in it and it may not need to be on full power, illustrates great versatility. The fridge is generally ve...Read more
ry quiet except on the odd occasion when it makes a slight noise which sounds as if it is entering a temporary defrost mode or is part of the standard functionality. The fridge is also very easy to clean and I have had times where even the most stubborn food stains etc can come off with some basic hot soapy water, the space between the shelves gives the user plenty of room to clean comfortably.Similar opinion? Pretty good - except for the crisper drawer - it won't open/close easily
If you don't need to use the crisper it's a great fridge. I love that the shelves on the door are half length so I can stagger the shelving for taller bottles.
I've had it for about 10 days and so far it's keeping things cold and the freezer is a great size.
However, the crisper draw is seriously flawed. I have trouble opening and closing it. I currently have left it open about 2 to 3 cm so I can use it. Luckily the fridge door still closes. I'm thinking that this defeats the purpose of a crisper draw.
I'll be seeing if I can return it.

Fridge is in working order
Fridge works well. Great size for family of 4. Keeps fruits, vegetables, food and liquids cool. No leaks. Shelves easy to clean. Overall, no complaints from my side. It's everything I expect from a good decent fridge and freezer combined.

Crisper Draw
The crisper draw is impossible to operate, had we realised this before purchasing the refrigerator we would not have bought it. We had the previous model for 14 years with out any problems. On going back to the store( the next day) we purchased it from I asked the owner to try opening the crisper on the floor model. He couldn't do it successfully. As a result he has offered to replace the refrigerator with another of our choice.

Pretty good
Very good fridge and internally looks the goods.
Externally its pretty plain but with a big family we went for size over styling. I like that it had a satin finish with white handles as it seamlessly fits in with our white cabinets.
Internally the clear shelves make it easy to find spills or general grub so it makes you keep your fridge nice a clean.
large fruit and veg holder and adjustable shelves make xmas and easter better as you can move, take out, add as you need in the door.
Freezers good and ice cube tray system best ive had.

First one was DOA, second is good.
Unfortunately, the first one was DOA. It "worked", but did not cool anything. In fact, water in the freezer did not turn into ice even after 10 hours. We called the store and they said it's quite common with these fridges, which had me worried to get a replacement. The second fridge came that day and worked just fine until this very day (about 7 months). It's fairly quiet, large and convenient. The only complaint is the cheap plastic they used for the drawers - more often than not they get stuck, start to creak & are very hard to pull out and push in. Definitely not premium.

Love our Westinghouse!
We purchased this fridge when our last one died on Australia Day. This was over ten years ago now, and it’s still going strong!
Temperature is adjustable and controllable, and keeps all food nice and fresh. Vegetables stay fresh for a long period of time in the crisper.
Shelves are super easy to clean and remove/move around.

Apparently will not operate in colder areas of Australia
I purchased a Westinghouse 540 litre fridge (Model WBT 5400 WA-R) in Canberra in February, 2017 and within four (4) months noticed that the freezer was not working correctly. It would not even keep a loaf of sliced bread frozen.
I rang Electrolux on 28.06.17 and after checking the freezer control and restarting the fridge as requested, I was given the contact details for their recommended repairer.
Despite four (4) visits by the recommended repairer and having the sensor and controller replaced, and a data logger placed in my fridge, the ...Read more
freezer still did not work correctly. Following numerous representations to Electrolux, I was eventfully advised that the data log report indicated that the freezer was not cooling. I was also advised that my fridge was a single control model and would not work if the ambient temperature of the kitchen was below 10C. I was further advised that if I wanted a Westinghouse fridge that works, I would have to purchase a dual control model (only available in the 600 cub metre and above range). My old Kelvinator refrigerator ran for 28 years without any problems. For 17 of those 28 years the old refrigerator stood in exactly in the same spot as the new Westinghouse and never once was there a problem with the freezer.Similar opinion? How do I reduce temperature in refrigerator
2 answers
Hi John, I'm not a refrigerator mechanic just someone who bought a dodgy product from Westinghouse and listed the complaint above when I didn't get satisfaction. Obviously you've played with the thermostat dials and now if your fridge is reasonably new contact the shop where you bought it. If it is outside the 1 year warranty tell them that ACCC (think that's the right body)state that a purchaser can expect the product to perform within the reasonable life of the product. I can't remember whether it's 5, 7, or 10 years for a fridge but you want the shop or Westinghouse to fix it now. All the best but Westinghouse are as slippery as a wet eel when it comes to excuses.
Great response thank you but as they say we think we have a lemon. There are no thermostats dials I can find to adjust. Thats the main issue. Thanks again. John
