A Great Family Fridge

published

This is a good size family fridge. The freezer and fridge areas are quite generous and a good size for a family. The crisper is a good size and does it's job perfectly.

The SS finish is excellent and easy to wipe clean and quite pleasant on the eyes, not to bright a shiny. The glass shelving in this fridge is easy to clean and is a lot better than our old fridge that had wire shelving where things would fall rough and over.

It is easy to set controls that suit you, it is quiet running and there is a door open alarm to remind you that someone has left the door open.

Wry happy with purchase.

Great fridge

published

I had to replace my previous Westinghouse due to an issue with the compressor, it was 10 years old which is apparently the life of a modern fridge. I looked around and found that I was back with the Westinghouse. I like the way the new model has adjustable shelves on the door, gives great flexibility and you can use the space well. The vegetable crisper is still one of the best on the market as it doesn't lose space with chunky sides that we saw on other fridges.
It is a simple fridge, no bells and whistles but does exactly what it's supposed to and looks great too. Happy customer.

Stylish & Functional

This is my second Westinghouse. I am just as happy with this one. Quiet motor, keeps food a good temp. Plenty of options to set up internal shelves and door. I use the slide out meat compartment for an additional fruit & vegie storage. On the freezer, I removed the ice cube tray though it seemed like a waste of space.
I keep a lot of food in the freezer and put it to the test - It passes with flying colours.

Like it and hate it

published

Good fridge as in keeping temp and the running cost. However the set out of the shelving and plastic compartments makes the fridge size smaller, the right side door lockable compartment is silly as it doesn't open right up and would easily be broken if used daily. The meat compartment tray is a waste of a shelf and is also flimsy

Excellent product

Purchased from Harvey Norman at around $150 less than other retailers and then got a $150 rebate from Westinghouse as well, so net delivered promptly price was around $744.Very quiet, keeps its set temp and food in freezer does not get too cold. Glass shelves easy to clean and hold minor spills. Plenty of convenient trays and compartments. Minor item is ice trays do not empty easily into tray, you have to thaw them a little first. But that is pretty common to most ice trays in fridges in our experience - only our large W'house with ice maker in other house does not do that!

Quiet fridge that looks great

published

Temperature control is easy to operate and the unit maintains the set temp. Our main conce was the noise from fridges. This one is quiet, no gurgling noises or noisy compressor operation. Easy to clean with glass shelves that simply wipe clean with a damp cloth. Lots of storage spaces in door. The ice cube maker in the freezer is a delight to use.

Westinghouse Fridge

published

I have found the temperature to be good over the summer period. I especially like the fruit and veggie compartment as well as the dairy as food seems to stay fresher longer.
I find it a little noisy, but in saying that I think it is only when it is defrosting.
Very easy to clean, I just use a damp cloth, and spills are quickly absorbed.

Not a bad fridge

published

Had this fridge for a few weeks now and generally happy with it so far. The only problem is the crisper. It's so small! It doesn't open and close smoothly unless you use 2 hands.
The fridge runs quietly but makes some pretty weird noises at times. From what I've read this is normal (sounds like a yeti moaning softly, can be quite soothing)
All in all I'm happy with my purchase so far.

Bought this brand new fridge last Friday 3 March through Appliances Online & it simply doesn't work. Fridge & freezer both not cold. Milk has gone off along with other food. Called Electrolux Care. No empathy from staff member at all. Didn't think I would be having problems from Day One. Very disappointed.

Excellent fridge

published

We bought our new fridge in November and went with Westinghouse because of the excellent reviews, because we could get left hand hinges and because our other new appliances are also Westinghouse. We are also very happy with our duo oven and cooktop.
It works really well, keeping the food very cold and items in the freezer like ice cream are also kept very cold.
As stated in the manual it does make some interesting noises but they are by no means loud.
I realise the glass shelves are to stop spillage but would prefer my old metal rack type shelves.

Westinghouse for me

published

I chose Westinghouse a well known Brand for decades always reliable and trustworthy, quiet and easy to clean and maintains correct temperatures. A pleasure to have in my kitchen and the LED lighting illuminates all shelves as well as the big spill proof glass shelves. The fruit and vegie divider a nice addition as well as the twist and serve ice cubes. Plenty of door storage and easy inside controls. The Brand Westinghouse Refridgerator for me always.

Great refrigerator with old fashioned quality.

I find the top mount freezer easier to use and the refrigerator works extremely well on Medium Cool, as does the Freezer. Freezer keeps ice-cream just perfect. Recommend as price very good too ...around $1600.

What a great, robust fridge.

published

I'm about 18 months in, from upgrading. This is a much larger fridge - and for only 2 adults, it has been a perfectly working fridge.
It holds a large variety of specific foods (eggs, meats, cheeses, medications) in special compartments, and the crisper works a treat.
Quiet as a mouse and super easy to clean. At times the tray's can be somewhat difficult to remove, given the fridge door only opens a certain distance. I like my ice cubes large, and the ice cube tray only gives smaller sized cubes.

Crisper drawer

published

The problem with the opening and closing of the crisper drawer is a real pain - is there a fix? Also to NON SELF-CLOSING door is a pain in the backside as well. It is quiet and cools effectively and so far not hard to clean but the above problem is a real bad one. Would NOT recommend the fridge to anyone...

Still no further reply from Electrolux. Harvey Norman have however replaced the unit with another of the same brand/model and that has no problem with the crisper, although the door problem is still there. Bob Davies

Great fridge but the crisper draw is terrible and is impossible to stop if dropping off its mounting

published

For almost 12 months we have tried everything to fix the vegetable crisper draw and slide mechanism. We're not at all happy with this feature and are seeking a positive resolution to appears to be a common problem with this model fridge. Apart from the crisper issue, the actual fridge is great.

How do I reduce temperature in refrigerator

Garden gnome

Hi John, I'm not a refrigerator mechanic just someone who bought a dodgy product from Westinghouse and listed the complaint above when I didn't get satisfaction. Obviously you've played with the thermostat dials and now if your fridge is reasonably new contact the shop where you bought it. If it is outside the 1 year warranty tell them that ACCC (think that's the right body)state that a purchaser can expect the product to perform within the reasonable life of the product. I can't remember whether it's 5, 7, or 10 years for a fridge but you want the shop or Westinghouse to fix it now. All the best but Westinghouse are as slippery as a wet eel when it comes to excuses.

Great response thank you but as they say we think we have a lemon. There are no thermostats dials I can find to adjust. Thats the main issue. Thanks again. John
