I’ve got a westing house fanforced oven the fan blades hit the element intermittently approximately six months later I didn’t do anything about it as sometimes it went for long periods without any problems then after two and a half years it suddenly stopped working the fan jammed against the element .We had it repaired and were told it was a factory fault Westinghouse replaced the parts but I had to pay for the repairs.Seeing it was a factory fault I feel Westinghouse should have paid the lot. What do you think?

Of course I was informed by the repairer it was a known fault and the new fan he put in was a newer part, he also replaced the element around the fan.....

I was in warranty period though for my model oven...... All you can do is email customer care at westinghouse with the model and date of repairs etc and sort of beg that they do something about it.

Thats what I did and had some luck i guess

Hi, for the last couple of weeks we are getting a rattling sound when we turn on. See there are many complaints about this and that it is a fault with some units. Would appreciate your advice. Thankyou, Chris

Reading the above issues I have second thoughts ....I was going to install it in my rental property where the kitchen is small and the tenant has 4 children under the age of 9. Pls someone respond special about the heating up of knobs and hot air venting into the kitchen after use. My tenant uses her oven most days twice a day. Pls reply quickly so I can go looking for another brand over the weekend. Thanks.

I think the knobs would be out of reach of small children and they don’t get hot, even after quite a lot of cooking time.
Some hot air does vent into the kitchen but I think this happens with most ovens.

Raepat thanks for reply........why are there multiple concerns expressed over this issue. The knobs don't heat but the panel on which the knobs sits does. Why. Do you have it installed in your kitchen.

I am going to have a kitchen renovation tomorrow and the person who will do the kitchen is also going to furnish( included in his kitchen renovation package deal, which he highly recommened Westinghouse brand) and install the cooktop and oven which happens to be Westinghouse WVE615S model and Electrolux WHC 642BA cooktop. I am now reading the reviews and I am getting worried . I read one of the reviewers said that the glass door oven shattered. Than the grinding noise of the fan. also, the electrical power inside the oven Bang. Please tell me that all these were already been looked up by the Westinghouse especially Made in Australia WVE615S oven. And I hope those faulty issues has been corrected, rectified, resolved, fixed and actions has been taken. Is there any guarantee that this oven i am going to have this year will be safe to use? Thank you.

Brandnew underbench oven. Panel where knobs and clock are heats up so much once the oven is turned off you can’t touch it. Also heats up the Formica bench extremely hot.
Manual says some models have a cooling fan ...... but of course don’t know it this model has one? When oven is turned off there is no fan that continues on so I don’t know if this is a fault or this model dosent have this feature. Will not be keeping it if this is normal because huge safety risk but also it will end up warping the bench.
Alarmed at how hot the panel is. Glass door fine but panel so hot you could not touch it for long. When ok fan bake hot air is released at top which sounds like is normal. But should a fan continue once the oven is turned off until it’s cool? I have a service guy coming next week.
If there is no fault I will be asking for a refund. This oven is dangerous.

Well it’s a saga. Got the Westinghouse house rep out and he is blaming installation which is rubbish. Kitchen installed by reputable kitchen.
Found the rep to be dismissive and blaming.
He told us that we need to turn temperature off and keep fan running from fan bake mode for extra 30 minutes to help it coop down. Never knew that when we bought this model that there is no cooling down fan. If I knew I would have spent more $$ to buy a better model.
So because he wrote on his call out sheet installed incorrectly, we had to pay call out fee and Westinghouse taking no responsibility. Kitchen company says this has happened before, where appliance people try to blame. It’s 100% installed correctly. So as a customer stuck. It’s a entry level oven and because the panel heats up I would not recommend it.

I'm renting and there is a WVEP615 in built oven and have been unable to change the time on the clock. When I use mode to scroll through the options and am on the clock setting, if I press either the + or - buttons I get long beeping tones instead. All I've found so far in the manual refers to setting up the clock the first time connecting the oven, not resetting from a already set time.
Any advice would be great?

All that should need to be done is to tap the mode button till you see a flashing clock face on the left of display and then adjust time with +or - buttons.

Hi Lin, I've just rechecked the front of my oven and yes it's hot to touch. It became hot once i turned it off. The knobs are still cool to touch. I think this is a normal part of the ovens operation. Perhaps contact Westinghouse if your still concerned.

Many thanks. Contacted retailer who contacted rep for Westinghouse who said she had heard of this problem when you do the first heating to get rid of fumes. If I get same problem when cooking I have to let them know

I just purchased the Westinghouse WVE615S electric oven.
The amount of air blowing out of the top above the handle is ridiculous. Even staring 1 foot back front he oven it blows your hair all over the place.
This CANNOT be normal. You cannot even bee within 2 feet of the oven - how the hell are you supposed to open the door?
Very disappointed - I will be taking this much further.
Please explain ASAP

This is the cooling fan used to reduce the temperature of the electrical components. Once the oven has heated sufficiently to activate the cooling fan, air will pass through the vents above the door. The Air coming out of the vents should not be at an elevated temperature that you cannot open the door.

We have the same problem ..my previous wall oven a St George was installed and the vent was at the back ... this westing house has been installed in the same place ..... why can’t the air go out the back. Are all modern day wall ovens like this .?.

This oven is a disappointment. I previously had a Westinghouse 668 which was 15 years old and had no problems cooking. I updated to stainless steel and was told by Westinghouse the WVE615S was similar to my previous model. I decided to cook a veal roast which was only around 1kg. Followed the instructions and cooked it on fan forced setting. After 1 hour the meat was still raw inside. I rang customer service and was told that I would be charged for a service call if the serviceman did not find a fault with it. I have had it for less than 1 month. I am sorry I ever updated my oven now even though the ovens got a good rating from Choice.

I'm waiting on Electrolux to get back to me regarding this oven. As far as I am concerned they need to RECALL it as it is dangeroulsy unsafe to use.

If you have air conditioning and you use the oven your air conditioning unit will cost MORE TO RUN as the oven pumps out HOT AIR into your kitchen thus making your air conditioner WORK HARDER.

Refer to my comment titled "Dangerously overheats exterior panels and glass, may cause fire" at /p/westinghouse-wve615s-wve615w.html to get the full picture.

Tookie
Tookie

Micheal,
Hot air is suppose to come out the front of the unit to cool the electrical components.
And of course if you run your air con while using the oven it will take longer to cool down(common sense)
The units have a cool down period after the unit has been turned off also.
Please read your instruction manual.
If the unit is not browning your food, ensure you have it on the correct setting, and that the rear fan is circulating the air in the oven (fan forced)
Different settings will help brown the food ie turbo grill which has the grill element on whilst the rear fan is running.
