Do you convert existing sheds or only supply new one's? We are looking at purchasing land which has a recently built dwelling/shed on it which includes bedroom, bathroom, kitchen (council approved). there is 70sqm of shed space left and we would be keen to expand the living areas (second bedroom, larger kitchen).

At Wide Span Sheds we assess a range of variables, including the surrounding terrain and topography, in order to determine the actual site wind speed and the correct engineering specification for the new buildings that we supply.
If you wish to modify an existing building on the land that you are considering purchasing we strongly recommend that you engage a local Structural Engineer or suitably qualified licenced building practitioner in order that they can assess the ‘as-built’ construction of the existing building in conjunction with the modifications that you are planning to make and they will then be in a position to advise you of the options that may be available to you. Are Wide Span homes considered to be removable to meet council requirements for a dependent living unit?

Thank you for your enquiry. We understand that conditions and rules on dependent persons units vary between councils and therefore it is best to check with your local council.
If the council requires that dependent persons units must be able to be easily lifted and placed on a new site within a short period of time (generally a few days) then you might be best searching for demountable and / or transportable buildings.

Hi, my family built the Weekender 85 – N3 – 600 flooring system at Poona in QLD. the kit cost us approximately $30,000. My mother in-law was the owner builder of the project, and we employed a family friend that is a semi-retired builder, understand we had every little experience building a house, however the cost saving benefits for us to manage the project and the ability to negotiate and choose the tradesman we felt most comfortable with was great. We had a budget of $100,000 (including the kit) to full complete the house ready for living. The plans where fantastic and easy to follow, the stud frame is individually pack and clearly marked for each panel and each truss and went together without an issue. From day 1 to completion it took us around 7 weeks to complete, we had no sewer so our budget includes a septic system and 2 x 5000-gallon water tanks (cost was approximately $16,000), also we purchased a lot materials second hand like the kitchen (gumtree). So, all up after everything done and completed we spent between $90,000 and $95,000 for a 3-bedroom 1-bathroom house, I hope this helps you and we love our little weekender. Jeremy

Hello, my wife and I are thinking of a kit home from this company, but after reading some of the reviews we are having second thoughts.
Has anyone had an experience building one of these kit homes, if so could you please inform us of your dealings contract wise, delivery and if it was council approved and delivered on time.

Hi KYLIEWANE, we built on 100 acres so didn't need council approval but contract wise it was great. We had regular email updates as to its progress during manufacturing and all plans and engineering document were posted on their web page accessible by our password. Shed was delivered on time and no hassles with organising the delivery to suit our time schedule. Hope that helps. Cheers Rob
I purchased a shed through them not a home. The build of the shed by Metroll in Lismore was fine and delivery was also not a problem (Widespan don't own a factory). The issue comes if you use their recommended builder. I am still waiting for contact from their installer after recent several promises he would call me. The fact is that Widespan technically only supply the building and distance themselves from any issues with construction by protective clauses in their contract. My experience is that if there is an issue you are on you own and no assistance will be provided by Widespan. This is simply my experience though I'm sure others have had good experiences.
